Good video, thanks for sharing! I laugh when you describe the model 3 as being so tight and a little difficult for a family to fit. We've had our model 3 for about 4 weeks now and love it. It's actually the largest car we've ever owned, so it feels roomier than what we're used to. We only have one child, but we lived with a Corolla through her first 12 years and it worked fine. Not spacious, but sufficient. The model three is just slightly larger in all aspects than that car and for us feels relatively roomy. Like you both pointed out, make three changes and the 3 would be amazing: - add a hatch instead of a trunk - power lift gate on that hatch - glass roof without the dividing bar So essentially the model Y. I expect that will be an amazing car. We just couldn't wait any longer, and I doubt we'll be in a financial position to upgrade to it anytime soon. Having said all that. My wife, daughter and I all love our model 3. It is such a pleasure to drive and even just sit in. Love it!

The best one is the Y for me. I know it's not available yet but you have the best of both world : Range & performance almost as good as the model 3 Handling gonna be really similar to the model 3 More practical & you got more space than the 3 with the hatch back Just a little bit more expensive than the 3 And you have the HW3.0 capable of FSD Y ftw :D

“There has never been a time when I could not fit something in [the Model S].” From personal experience I can say the same thing. I’ve fit in my Model S an entire queen size bed (mattress, topper and bed disassembled), 100 rotisserie chickens from Costco, and an 80” tall standing mirror (separately ofc). I was very glad to have my car both times I’ve moved into an apartment.

This video was just fantastic. Most car reviews give one opinion but I loved how Ben & Jenny bounced their thoughts off of each other. Both of you had different angles from which to judge these cars and together your opinions were greater than the some of their parts. I hope you continue to review future cars together. You make a great team. I think I too might prefer the Model 3 if it were a hatchback.

@@PlutoisaPlanet I have a Model 3. There is only a trunk. Maybe I'm not used to premium cars, but I don't find that I need the trunk to be opened or closed automatically. On a minivan it is very useful. But the Model 3 is really just a small sedan.

I sold my 3 because of not having a hatchback and power lift-gate. Waiting now for the rumored X refresh later this year and hoping to fix some of the interior out-of-date issues to switch to that.

I love the fact that Tesla keeps improving their cars even after you bought it No other manufacture to my knowledge does that. My big gripes with the Model S interior (totally understand her saying it’s old. Feels that way to me too) - is that it lacks many of the convenience features of other cars... simple things that I miss like a dedicated place to put my glasses, a center console/storage area, a place for a reasonable sized drink (those cup holders are super small). Cup holders are poorly placed yup.

All the Tesla are great, but the X is the best! The space, the advanced technology, the wind-shield, the falcon doors and the higher ride position all make it the car for me.

Note that the Xs windshield visor can be in varying positions. You do not have to 'lock' it in the magnetic lock.

Enjoyed this video a lot. I have the Model 3 and drove the S once. With grown children I do not have the same issues and my young grandchildren love the car. There is certainly a learning curve with the car. I am very tech savvy but it took me two weeks to feel really comfortable with the car and a month to have all the features except auto navigation become second nature. I cannot get used to auto navigation; it freaks me out. I rarely use adaptive cruise control either but in truth since buying my first sports car so many years ago, I’ve always liked to be in control of my driving experience. I've owned a Corvette Stingray, a Porsche Boxster, and a BMW 330i - all with a manual transmission. Yet, I have never loved a car more than I love my TESLA Model 3. The Boxster was a wonder to drive, fast and with amazing ability on curves. But for pure pleasure and zippy zippy performance on the highway and in town, this car is by far the most satisfying car I have ever owned. The icing is charging while I sleep and the avoidance of gas stations forever! If I could improve anything, it would be to add Waze like traffic and police notifications into the map. My least favorite feature is the missing warning notifications on the too small side-view mirrors. Those side-views are poorly designed in my opinion. Finally, Apple Car Play has better integration of features than this car and I miss it, especially when I have to fumble around when trying to start an Audible book on a drive. This can be downright dangerous on the Model 3.

I'm with you on wanting the display in front of me and not off to the side. Its visual ergonomics. I understand Telsla's stance on this minimalism and cost-cutting but at a minimum, I'd like a HUD then. All the info needed to drive should be in front of the driver and the rest is fluff. And yes, a A7 style hatch is completely necessary as well as flat-folding seats. Great video, and nice to see you two together. Congrats on your growing fam!

Excellent review of all three models. I have a deposit on the model Y after deciding not to purchase the 3. I wasn’t totally in love with it b/c I’m used to a hatchback for loading bigger Costco purchases and I felt I’d have to use my ‘87 truck for that, which isn’t ideal. So after listening to both of your thoughts I’m excited again about the Y. I’ve been wavering lately b/c I felt the 3 was too small and started leaning towards the S. Partly b/c I haven’t had a chance to see the Y in person to size it up (pun intended, 😉). I’m with your wife on the auto hatchback being a necessity which the Y will have. 🤞🏻 I’m old and want my comforts. Ha BTW your wife is lovely and you make a great team. Please ignore the haters. Use the Diona car seats in the 3rd row for kids when they start facing forward. Rear facing in middle. Put larger passengers in middle with forward facing kids in back. Works great for us.

I prefer the Model S. Drove a model 3 for a bit and think it feels like a zippy VW bug. Model 3 is nice, but seems too small - and something my grandparents would drive into their retirement. The model S feels like an SUV, great storage space, but without the added height. I disagree that the S is clunky. To me the S feels like a nimble strong rocket ship. And makes a statement...

Model X, I owned the non folding second row seats 2016, eventually bought a folding second row 2017. For me a huge difference for flexibility. First time I ever sold a car after one year but was the right choice.

A Tesla has been and continues to be my dream car which I plan to eventually get once I have the means, and without having owned any of them yet and only having test driven the Model S, I agree with you; the obvious choice for me is the Model X. It fits all my criteria: range, style, space, speed, safety, technology and best of all... NO GAS.

I have 7 cars including a Rolls Royce Phantom EWB and my 7 seat white Tesla X. I've driven the "S" but the "X" is by far my favorite. It's easy to get in and out, great view while driving and the speed is AWESOME along with the handling and range as well as the many configurations for storage. The "X" is like stepping into tomorrow and MY FAVORITE CAR!!!

Owned 2014 S for 6 months..traded to 2016 X P90D...Test drove the Mod 3....Mod X absolutely my favorite. I want the room, the view, the dash, the sound system, free supercharging, and above all the falcon doors.

I love my 2017 Model S 75D. My wife loves her 2019 Model 3 long range Dual Motor. As 60+ year olds, the one feature our Tesla’s are lacking are entry assist handles above the doors. It’s nice to think you’re going to be young forever, but reality can be harsh.

Na Ben! I agree, I loved all the room (big Frunk) of my 2013 Model S, power lift gate for sure too. It's a highway cruiser. But the Model 3 is an awesome all-around agile commuter (future) car. The Screen is *not* too small Ben. You're just an ol' school fuddy duddy with your binnacle up front, and 17" portrait screen on the side. Congrats to you and your wife. She's truly awesome, love her view points. You are one truly blessed guy!!!

I own the model 3p, and have driven a model s as a loaner. The S feels too big and clunky. The 3p feels so nimble along with the acceleration.

The advantage of phone being your key on the 3 is you will never forget your phone at home, and to over come the blank dark dash in front of you, i use DigiHUD speedometer app and set it right on the dash wood trim at night, had to do it when i first got the car but now that i have been driving the 3 for over a year, i no longer really need it

Nice video guys! For a European, the Model 3 has the ideal size, I own a model S and it is too big for most parkings, despite its nice looks, 2 screens and other pluses, I will sell it for a model 3 performance. Fits my needs better as I don't have small kids, and need the range for travels, the smaller size for easier parking, the latest tech with FSD in mind, and best safety of any car, Tesla or otherwise! (according to NHTSA). And after test-driving a 3, I don't find the single screen a problem at all.

I love watching Tesla videos, but I'm not that balla right now. I got a Fiat 500e, and it's phenomenal. Family of 4 fits just fine (though it would've been MISERABLE when the kids were still in 5-point car seats, boosters are great). The hatchback is wonderful, so while I've been daydreaming about the 3, Jenny's comment has totally ruled it out for me. Looking forward to seeing the Y when it shows up. Congrats and all the best with the baby, too!

Congratulations on your pending arrival! You really MUST include Jenni in more of your videos. You interact great together. I really enjoy the dialog. I really love my 2018 Model S 100D. It’s a great looking car. A Model X for me would be overkill. I have driven one and I loved it. I don’t have kids in the house anymore, so it’s just not practical for me. The Model 3 doesn’t appeal to me. The lack of a lift gate is a real turnoff. Keep up the videos. I really enjoy them.

On the Model X, if the falcon wing doors don't open fully, just hold down the "open" button (or screen or door jamb) and it will open the rest of the way. I love my Model X, my wife Rita loves her Model S with sunroof...

The 2022 model s plaid is my dream car. I like smaller cars and hatchbacks as my first car was a 2002 Acura rsx hatchback. The hatchback gives me so much room for storage with its wide opening.

I have a 2019 Hyundai Kona which I love. It doesn't have the software update capability or self-driving features, but it's VERY comfortable, drives great and has the advantage over gas cars that all EV's have (instant torque, takes hills like a champ, quiet except for the very cool sound it makes under 20 mph, range is rated at 260 but I usually get more than that, can sit in it for long periods of time with the A/C running and the radio on without worrying about it)- and most importantly it's fun to drive. It's only drawback in my opinion is that the back seat room and trunk room should be bigger to accommodate long-legged people and more storage. But I'm leasing the car for three years so expect those issues to be resolved by the next time my lease is up. I may go with a Model Y then though - who knows.

I have not heard many people comment about the hatch opening size being so small on the M3 but that would be a big deal for me. I have only ridden in the S and I think it would suit my needs/wants most since I can't have a Roadster. I live in a country now that has very few Tesla cars, I have only seen one X and one S I do not even have or need a car now after being a nut for restoring classic Italian GT's with a large collection of classics, moving to another country where there is good cheap public transportation I have no need for a car. If I had one it would sit 95% of the time but for road trips, an S would be perfect, with many European countries just a few hours drive away. Growing up in California it is just part of life depending on a car every day or not being able to get to work, shop or live. I thought it would be inconvenient not having a car but I adapted instantly and love the freedom not having a car creates. Maybe a used S will be in my life for those special dates to the opera or road trips. Congratulations on your second coming soon!

I've looked longingly at Teslas but the 1st one that does what I need in a vehicle is the Cybertruck. Pre-ordered 1st day. Every day for the next 2 years is like Xmas eve.
