@@Dubitz right, I know the camera films frames at a certain hertz (24/second, 50, 60, etc), but usually pure DC powered lights don't have a flicker, which is why I thought it might be an AC powered light, which would be silly if Tesla had a DC to AC inverter just for a cabin light. When you see ICE cars on film, their LED lights are almost always flickering because of the cars engines alternator (I am guessing). I'm no electronics engineer, just wondering.

I have a Y on pre-order as well, but since we might not see it for 1.5-2 years, why not get a used one and start driving tesla? I found a very good priced model S 70D with 4 year warranty from tesla, with free supercharging for life. I used the EV-CPO Hunter's website, which is completely amazing, to find my used model S out of over 300 used ones for sale. Dont use tesla's used inventory site, its garbage compared to the other one. In a year from now, as the Y approaches production, i should know more about what my needs are and whether or not i need to buy the new Y. Buying used with warranty saves you a lot of money and it might be good enough to drive for a few years and then buy a used model Y. Something to consider, meanwhile, i get mine in 1-2 weeks and will be enjoying free supercharging instead of continuing to drive my ICE rig this summer!

Thanks, Ben. I did exactly what you have just done. I bought a red 2016 model S P90D last August (2018). It had been bought by a leasing company and leased out for 2.5 years. It then came up for auction and I was fortunate enough to get it for 51% of its sale price when new. It had 45k miles on it and so I needed new rubber for it and rim rash repair. Like you, I also added some after market upgrades like a spoiler and stone chip protection. Even though it has the older fascia and "only" AP1, it is my dream car and so I am bliss-ed out by it. So, I'm totally with you in recommended anyone buying a used Tesla.

We bought the Model 3, new. We bought the Model S, used. Purchased through a Dealership in San Antonio. 2015, Pearl White, Glass roof, Black Interior with Alcantara Headliner with AP1 for $39k. It had 56k miles, so outside of Factory Warranty for Bumper to Bumper, but still maintains the Drive Train Warranty of 8yrs or 100k miles. I'm willing to live dangerously, without the Bumper to Bumper. We have a Service Apt scheduled with Tesla in two weeks to review the Car and it's service History and see if anything needs to be done. A thing to note, is that you need to have the Vehicle Registered in your name, before making a Service Appointment. Tesla would not allow us to make one until the S was registered in our name to show ownership and was available on our Tesla Account for Connectivity. After the transfer of the Ownership took place, we did a full Factory Reset at home, to erase all of the previous Owner's information. Upon purchase, the car was in great shape, drove well, AP worked just fine (not as good as the Model 3 AP, but far better than no AP). It's a 70D, so we have AWD, it accelerates on par with our Model 3 LR RWD, but is noticeably heavier and bigger on the road, than the 3. The 2015 70D had an original range of 240mi. Charging to 100 SoC now gives us 233mi, so only 7 miles of range lost in nearly 4 years. There are more and more Used Model S listings in Texas, with AP1 falling between $35k - $40k. Some P models, without AP for about $35k, decent miles. Our next purchase will be a Model X, it will most likely be new and will probably be about two years from now. I'll be interested in seeing what new options will be available at that point in time, but not much has changed, I'll be looking at used Model X first.

I saved about $7,000 out the door compared to ordering the car in the same configuration, considering no use or sales tax for private sales in my state, and avoiding doc fees. The car also had several key accessories/mods that I would have done myself (center console wrap, tint, door weatherstripping, wireless charger, etc.), further adding value in my case. I feel bad that the seller took the depreciation hit, but I suspect he's claiming Fed and state tax incentives to offset the loss.

I thought about the used Tesla MS but now that they have the 370 miles MS and with all of the latest Tech, I've become more partial to that one. It's just the peace of mind of having that amount of range while you have the cold weather package in full swing makes it that much more appealing. Ben, as you have a far reaching channel, I am wondering if you could get feedback and make a little video about owning a Tesla in different locations. Depending on the road conditions, salt on the roads that eats the cars, freezing rain and door handles? How about being near a tough neighbourhood? Is it better to go with a Mercedes or a Tesla when you are in the DC area? The Mercedes has a harder steel that does not rust out that fast if it is made in Germany. You know what I am saying?

You and I bro, no regrets on my private party MS buy. I researched the heck out of the seller though, immaculate credentials and lifepath guarantee no surprises. Few know that buying a Tesla ever registered to a dealer for sale will void the warranty extension option.

Love your new Tesla, but I’m still trying to figure out the overly dramatic thumbnail picture.

Hey Ben! Great video! Love the X! I bought my Tesla used it’s a 2012 model S 85 signature.. I bought it with 60,000 miles.. I’ve had it for a year and a half.. had some small stuff that needed to be fixed some which the dealer I bought from fixed and some I paid for out of pocket.. some which Tesla good willed.. which is great! My only question to you is.. do you ever worry about your model s battery pack once it’s out of the 8 year warranty... I’m coming up on that in a year.. still worries me at times.. my car is coming up on 100,000 miles currently at 98,000 as of yesterday.. I do everything to protect my battery.. not going be low 20% unless absolutely needed and I hardly charge to 100% unless going on a trip which isn’t often.. is this something you ever think about or have tips on keeping your battery at its best capability? Thanks!!!
