Well, I bought my first pipe tobacco and a Chacom pipe kit four days ago. The tobacco was Savinelli Black Cavendish 50 grams which cost almost $31, it seems that around $30 is the average price as far as I have seen here in Sweden for what I guess is premium tobacco. But we have very high taxes on tobacco and alcohol here. The rest of EU I guess have lower taxes...

I believe Cornell And Diehl blends age exceptionally well. I've had their stuff between 5 and 15 years, and the stuff is almost always intoxicating when popping the top on the aged stuff. Just incredible dried fruit and tangy and savory notes and loads of sugar crystals on their tobaccos. I suspect Bijou will age into something very very special.

Ethan C - The way I prepare Plum Pudding I just peel off a portion and break it up as loose as I can get it, then pack it in my pipe loose, the more you press it into the pipe the less air circulates, then you are constantly relighting because it won’t stay lit. If you have the tobacco in the tins, I keep them there, once you open the tin, transfer it to a canning jar. 👍👍👍

Maybe this is like being a new Scotch drinker, it takes time to acquire the taste, but I've immediately gravitated to Frog Morton on the Town and rejected the other types of blends I've tried due to their, for lack of a better word, "blandness". That includes Elizabethan Mixture. I'll give them some time and see what happens.

I purchased both CAO Eileen's Dream and Maltese Falcon. I am trying to like the Maltese Falcon. The aroma when you pack it is nice, but the taste is like a pack of crayons...hard to explain. Have you ever tried capt black royal? I can't put it down. My everyday all day long smoke. For an OTC I can't believe it. It's so smooth and sweet. Tin and room not is off the chart. Razorback Piper Guy - I followed the same pattern as you, tried Mississippi River and was not impressed, took a chance on Plumb Pudding and was amazed at the difference, Mississippi River taste flat to me, not a lot of taste, but Plum pudding is just the opposite, sweet, smoky, tangy, great after taste, and packs and stays lit well, give it a try, I don't think you will be disappointed. 👍👍👍

Razorback Piper Guy I to tried mississippi river and having only been a pipe smoker for about a month that was the first tobacco I bought after the lane 1q that I purchased when I bought my basket pipe. Jayson Dagner was the one who suggested it. I bought a dagner cob too. So, being a new smoker with only two pipes I don't enjoy it much at all! Always leaves a terrible aftertaste, it's bad! I do have to agree the Maltese Falcon is pretty darn great, I've tried a few other blends that are often too strong such as Peterson's Nightcap (Which is also extremely good but knocked me on my ass.) but since I tried Maltese Falcon I just find I can't go wrong with it. It just works well all around.

what part/s of USA is your (or his if your a viewer & U know?) is your accent from/based-around, Muttnchop? As a Brit gal (my hubby smokes a pipe & loves Nightcap & your vids) I/We can't quite place it; I get notes of Southern, maybe a dash of Texan, Midwesterny overtones, a teensy bit of Northern-border region possibly (Pennsylv./Fargo e.g., hey I'm a Brit I'm gonna be way off prob!?), and a hint of light New-York here & there. But really it just sounds like what we in rainy old England might consider a 'straight-American-Dialect' with a touch of some southern state/s; usually the only Southern-State accents we tea-drinking islanders can tell apart from the others are New-Orleans and 'pure' West-Virginia (if that counts as a Southern state?, it sure sounds like one to us). Just curious & interested to know how way-off we are - happy piping! 👍

I was really disappointed when I smelled Bourbon Bleu for the first time. I thought I wasted money on a tobacco I couldn't smell before I bought. When I smoked it I learned a valuable lesson: aromatics smell like you can eat them, but don't taste like much when you smoke them, while a non-aromatic can smell odd, they are delicious when they smoke.

In all honesty my opinion on Maltese falcon is not the best I personally don't like it for me it tastes like a cigarette and I don't care for that taste. But I do love plum pudding for me it actually tastes like plums and I love the taste. I do have a recommendation for you though try the next time you have extra money for tobacco try a pipe blend by Peterson called Irish dew I highly recommend it right now it's my second favorite blend

Adolfo Bolivar - no, you're good Classic Samsun is a great blend to smoke during the winter, but there are a couple of other suggestion I have for great blends to smoke. 1 Hearth & Homes Whiteknight, or 2. Cornell & Diehl's Star of the East Flake. Both are great tobacco's. 👍👍👍
