Dear Muttnchop Piper I want to thank you for teaching me how to smoke using the Breathe Method. I started smoking a pipe in the 1960s. I'm now 74 of years of age and recently started smoking pipe again, Your method has helped me enjoy the experience of pipe smoking so much more. And thanks too for all your very informative videos.

I learned this from an old gentleman way back then and the greatest thing I ever learned. I have taught thousands over the years. Great Video

Hi sir. I’ve recently started taking up pipe smoking. This breathe method is the first I’ve used, I do find that I end up inhaling the smoke while doing it. Something I don’t want to do. I also do the conventional sip method to see if I can find a difference in flavour. Any tips on fine tuning the method? Cheers

Thank you sir , I amost quit the pipe smoking because of terrible flavour & tongue burning. Your method is really a saver . Now I can feel a series of taste without a tongue on fire . The bowl is very cool. And the remaining taste is in my mouth even hours after piping. I didn't have a single idea of how to smoke. What I did was only to puff puff. This is indeed magical .

Your breathing method has changed my pipe smoking. So many more flavors. No tongue bite either. I was scorching the tobacco almost every time. This taught me to slow down and sip the smoke. Now that I've practiced,

when smoking a cigarette what you want to do is actually, draw the smoke into your mouth like you're pulling water into your mouth from a straw. then after pulling the cigarette away from your mouth, you open your mouth and inhale, then exhale. you don't want to draw directly into the lungs. it is very hot and harsh that way. I switched to a pipe from cigarettes, and im so happy that i did. its helping my to no longer be addicted.I am so thankful that i found your channel chris.

As a noob pipe smoker, I have followed your advice and have practiced the methods you demonstrate and have discovered a new pleasure of pipe smoking. You are a friend to the pipe smoker. Keep up the good work.
@PatrickSteil3 ай бұрын
Simplified and explanation that works for me. Breathe normally through your he nose. Keeping your mouth closed on the pipe, puff out on slowly on the pipe. That’s all I think about and it’s easy. You will have to be drawing air in in order to puff out. But not having to think about drawing air in makes it easy.

As a new pipe smoker, this method has helped me to start off in a great way. Lots of enjoyment, very little frustration. The only part that doesn't make sense to me is how reversing direction of air - out through the pipe, can actually cool it. The air we breathe in is around 21% Oxygen, and it makes sense that as we draw in this air through the pipe, it is going to 'feed the fire' and the ember will heat up. However, the air we exhale is still around 16.4% Oxygen. As this air passes through the bowl, it will also 'feed the fire'. The ember doesn't care which direction the air passes through it, it's still going to increase combustion. When we stoke a campfire and blow out exhaled air through the embers (or tinder, if just getting it lit), this exhaled air results in increased combustion due to the increased Oxygen supply. Anyway, aside from that, I sincerely appreciate the enjoyment the Breath Method has added. Thank you Muttnchop.

I took up pipe smoking again this year after 10 years and decided to watch this and your other breath method videos; tonight I watched this video as a quick refresher. I then settled down to a bowl of Peterson deluxe navy rolls for the first time (sampler pack) and I’m able to pick out so many more flavours from it and all without tongue bite. Thanks for sharing your experience and spreading the joy of this hobby. I am, as I’m sure many are, ever in your debt. Dave

I guess where I got confused with the original method is where you said "Breathe in through your nose." I assumed it meant "When you breathe in through your nose, naturally it will draw a little on the pipe since the air in your mouth has to move with your nose air too." So in this way, you 100% concentrate on breathing only through your nose, and none through your mouth. What I realized while watching this video is you actually meant "When you breathe in through your nose, you also breathe in through your mouth just a little bit. Like a VERY little bit. Then when you breathe out, you push a little whisp of air out the pipe stem in your mouth. Do this 3 times, then breathe out fully through your mouth." At least I think that's what you're saying. This sounds like something someone has to try for themselves I guess.
@SquiddlyInk24 күн бұрын
When you’re breathing in through your nose you slowly pull your tongue back with it - creating a sort of vacuum effect where the motion of your tongue is pulling in smoke and when you exhale you push the other way with your tongue - all very gently. The farther you pull your tongue back the more smoke you get. I too thought the same way you did until another guy here on YT broke it down in an easy way to understand.

I would add to smoking cigarettes or vaping that there are two different ways people inhale and especially with vaping effects throat hit: some “direct inhale” as you demonstrated, and others draw the smoke into their oral cavity and then inhale. As far as the breath method - I love it and my pipe is typically clenched and I’m breathing through my nose and retrohaling a lot. I love it 👍🏼💨💨💨

Cigars are similar to pipes in that you have to pace yourself. You also have to keep an eye on the burn and make corrections from time to time. The lighting of a cigar and pacing of smoking determines how much flavor you'll get. Slow, gentle, long draws. Burning it too hot will ruin the whole stick.
