That were the most efficient 4 minutes spent in my life yet :) Thanks for the tip, Dave!

Thanks! For our workflow, we shoot all day and then I render optimized media during dinner so that editing is smooth and ready to go the next day.

I love the "Generate Optimized Media" feature. Once that's done, 4K footage from my drone plays smooth as butter up to 32X speed! This is very nice for editors who need to blaze through and make cuts. Then I found an effect slowing things down again. So I read the manual and placed the effect on a color correction node INSTEAD of the strip on the timeline. Smart cache rendered it just fine, and I could see the blue loading bar in the timeline to see the progress. The plugin was an OFX plugin called NeatVideo for noise reduction. Hope this helps someone.

@@DigitalGenki He shows you at 1:53 You have to set the F5 shortcut to "Render Cache Color Output" via Preferences > Keyboard Mapping

I assigned the same function "render cache color output" to control+R, but when I hit that, the red bar appears above but it does not start rendering until I hit play. And it won't render the whole clip...I'm in DR16.

Great tip, thanks Dave. I was not very happy with the User caches because it needs to refresh everytime you edit the clip (I don't know if it is better in 15 though), so I generally generate optimized media in DNxHR LB format half the resolution and yeah it takes hell of a time :)

Hi Dave, I have one problem on the fusion page about setting render range.My auto render range is between 1-14400 on the timeruler.I want to change it but I can not find out.Do you know how to change it? Thanks!

In the Fusion page it is a bit more complicated, I am not an expert on Fusion.

And, where could you do a quick tutorial on where the cache is stored? I would like to possibly have it set on a different drive if possible.
@DaveDugdaleColorado5 жыл бұрын
I store it on a very fast separate NvME drive

All the places doing dailies for the big guys immediately transcode all MP4 to ProRes. Those ProRes are the new masters going forward for post and the MP4's are backed up on LTO as a "just in case". MP4 is a pain

Dave you should do a video and audio editing course for davinci resolve. I’m almost this close to moving to davinci resolve. I’m just so use to having so much control in premiere and audition in terms of the editing side (obviously color sucks in adobe). But I just wish davinci was a tad more customizable with window sizes and fluidity of the timeline/clip movement

Ben Just FYI I switched to Resolve 15 Studio on Windows 10 and it seemed to crash at least once per hour of editing on my computer that's stable with virtually everything else. That being said, I had "live save" enabled and I never lost more than a few seconds of work.

What are your computer specs T Freeman? Also, this guy suggested this if your problems are with fusion. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKqZlX6opquoaLM Even though it should have updated, make sure you're still not on the beta version of 15. You might need to delete it, and download the official one from davinci's site that isn't the beta anymore.
