I feel like “The Ember Empress” is more of a title while “Empress Ember” is more of a name. Actual Arachnophobia or just afraid of spiders? There is a difference. For example. My ex was afraid of spiders. My Sister Boyfriends is terrified of them. As for me, when i cleaned my spiders enclosures, I would wear a tick winter glove, just in case they tried to attack my hand, the fangs would not get me (Too much fabric, fangs not long enough) Of course if you keep pet tarantulas, you cannot really fear spiders. From our perspective (top-down hierarchy for lyfe 🙄) it looks that way, but I see interdependence here. The workers know they can't survive alone, so they behave in whatever way benefits the colony, as a whole. That means caring for their Queen, aka The Source of All Life. In human terms, the Queen is less like the "My-House-My-Rules Mom" we're used to and more like the Planet Earth, aka the Source of All Life... we could learn so much from how they take care of her 🌏🌍🌎😭🙌🏾!

This coming week I will be introducing my new HS Bio I class to AntsCanada as we are starting our ecology unit. I'm not sure which videos yet but one will certainly be about fire ants (maybe the flood) as they already are a little familiar with fire ants. I will also pick one that highlights a type of symbiosis and it's importance in stabilizing ecosystems... maybe the carnivorous plants or the mites. When showing any YT video I always ask them to write down questions for the creator. If I get a few interesting/unusual ones I will post them for you.

Hey man I have some quick questions... How do ants “replace” their queen...? Or when she is gone do they all die? Where do queens come from..? What do wild ants do when their queen dies? Do they find another colony?

Depends on the species -Some have only one queen and when she dies they all die, some have queens that could be replaced by another dominant ant(forgot name) -Queens come from other nests and mate with males from other nests and the males die and the queen will look for a place to build its colony -Same as the first one -some colonies will combine, but only few species, if the queen dies, the remaining colony will just soon die out
