You've just found a new trademark. Thatchers nearly always have a signature piece they finish their thatching with that identifies them. The Mouse man always carved a little mouse somewhere on his furniture. You could make the Rose heads and mount them on your jobs as a signatory piece. In years to come you would be known as the rose lead worker. Mounted over a door or on a roof would look the part. Very artistic.

Yes that would be very cool. It would be great to have a trademark that my work could be identified with.

That video was the one and only time I’ve ever done that. I honestly can’t remember the dimensions. How did your rose turn out ?.

To achieve the best thorn affect may i suggest building up a spot weld, when you have built it up around 5mm high flip the rose so that you spot weld is facing the floor, hit it with the torch so that your built up spot weld drips off and your left with a perfect looking thorn.

Thank you that’s a great way of doing it. I’ll have to try that next time.

There's a technique called repousse that you can do with copper etc, may work with lead but possibly it's too soft. You get a tray, fill it with pitch then lay the metal on it and hammer in your design with various punches to create a relief. Might be something to play around with. Always like watching your craftsmanship, great videos!

That's really smart 👏 I think a spider's web would be a good signature mark with initials in the webbing.

I am lucky enough to have one large ear 👂. I got so much piss take over it by my mate at work! I realised he was jealous!! So bossed a very large ear then burned it to a lead strap so he could wear it at work !! Yes he did wear at work the next day!!! And yes we still laugh about it now 🤣 . I might make him a rose 🌹. I love to hear him explain to his wife I made him a lead rose !!!!!
@slbleadworks Жыл бұрын

That’s great mate, well done. Do you remember that other task I hoped you could do? Making a lead bowl with no welding? Would love to see your attempt at that mate… I once knew a guy who told me that “he could beat lead around a ball” haha.. never saw him do it 😂
@slbleadworks Жыл бұрын
Thank you I really enjoyed doing this. Oh yes the lead bowl. I definitely want to have a go at this. I just need to find one made from wood that I can use to boss against. I think this will make a good vid. I’ll keep my eye out.
