I discovered Gabriel by accident but I’m glad I did, yes we all have to face up to stuff that sucks and it’s not easy to tell a bunch of strangers the stuff at times. We can’t all be like Superman and rise above it all as if we are invincible, instead we have to say them prayers drink the milk and be a good person which can be easier said than done. I respect Gabriel for being honest and not having an attitude where he can do no wrong. Yes a break up hurts but I’m sure he’s determined to move on and give things his best shot. As the song goes everybody hurts sometimes, how we accept and cope is a thing unique to us all. As one door closes another one opens it’s up to us to take the steps to move forward.

But my love lost….knowing he’s 1.2 miles away and not here. Is very difficult. But I won’t be acting like a crazy lady and stalking him. I just try to let him be. After my divorce, I thought I would rather he was dead. Death feels like a clean pain. He would be gone, but I would still have my memories and our love. Instead, I had a festering wound mixed up with love, loss, hate, betrayal and a sickening rage. If he could cheat on me with my best friend while she was going cold turkey off her psych meds and was actively suicidal, did he love me? Was he even a good person? Did he ever love me? All our love and memories twisted into an oozing open wound. Death just seems cleaner.

When I was in college and someone broke my heart, I woke up in the middle of the night one time and glanced at my TV to see what it was playing and it was Come Wake Me Up by Rascal Flatts. First time I ever heard that song. while i dont condone what it was that he did, it kinda seemed inevitable considering that they never wanted to actually get married. like, i am unsure of how long they were actually together but it seemed to be about 13 years because frankie was very young when they got together (i think it was established he was about 5 at the time) and around the time they split up frankie was about 18/19 years old. which implies that after 13/14 years gabriel was probably wanting something new and didnt realize it considering him and his girl refused to tie the knot. still bad what he did though.

I was still a kid in my early teens when I first heard Whiskey Lullaby, and being that young, it didn't affect me. Queue a few years later, some empathy learned, I would sing along to it on the radio like I did to any song I knew and realized what the lyrics meant, and a ball formed in my throat and tears just started to pour out. It was the first song to make me cry, and still does 20+ years later. Country music has a way of meeting you at any walk of life and resonating with emotions both joyous and somber and I think that's what makes me appreciate it years later even after growing apart from the religious and patriotic aspects of many songs.

Country, despite what all the haters say, is music/songs about real life. Not fantasy life, like some other music types, it's real.

This routine made me think of the murder mystery series from Australia called 'Brokenwood Mysteries'. The lead character of the series is a fan of country music because the music covers all the human emotions, especially heartache. 😆
