I remember one of my first games I had a king vs 2 knights and a king. At one point my computer could've drawn by repetition but it decided to play a different move and play out the game, because it apparently thought it had checkmating opportunities with just a king. I got checkmated... in a drawn endgame...
@danielglidewell
@danielglidewell 3 жыл бұрын
You were the one with just a king right? I'm not surprised the computer would want to keep playing then. 2 knights isn't enough to force checkmate, but checkmate is still possible if you walk into it.

@@danielglidewell This is about auto chess. Two computers are playing against each other on human's behalf. I've had some success with Bishop swarm, All in queens, all in rooks, and more. But the thing is what you really need to do is think about how to gain the initial advantage against what they're building. One way to do this is to mess their arrangement up by threatening some specific piece or pawn.

The problem with knights is they can be slow and take quite a few moves to reach their maximum potential. If you have too many knights you are choked in terms of the moves you can make to have them become valuable. I've had games of chess where I didn't even need to develop my bishops to have them contribute to the game. For the same to be true with knights is very rare. Clearly you were going with the synergy between closed positions and knights which was pretty interesting
