You're so lucky to have the symbols on your canvas. The canvases I had received were blank. I had ordered too early when they hadn't had the symbols on them yet. It definitely should be a challenge for me. It will be fun to see your progress.

It looks like a mystery kit and you won't see the full picture picture until the colored drills start going on it. I love that Jade has a kit up service because that is just freaking awesome for a project like this.

I completed my first Crown Jewel Canvas last year. I got it in color and I found that several symbols where impossible to see. I also got the drills from Cooper Diamond Art. I recently purchased another canvas and this time I got it in black and white. I figure this time I won't have to worry about not being able to see the symbols. Plus, it will be like a mystery painting without the risk of not knowing whether or not you will like the artwork or the rendering. I'm waiting for my drills from Jaded Gem Shop.

Oh no! I'm sad to hear that. I will say that the symbols are pretty small, but so far they're clear. I agree - it is like a mystery painting without the gamble of getting art you might not enjoy. :)

It's kind of like a mystery painting since you don't have the colored canvas even though you know what the image is. There is a challenge going on this fall to do something you haven't done before. a HAED is on my list but I think I'm going to start with special drills first.

This might be a silly question, but when you order the no drill canvas, does it tell you what color and how many of each drill you need at that time so you can then place the drill order too? Or do you have to get the canvas first? I've never seen this before so I'm curious. The kitting is wicked!

Yes, it does come with a color chart that lists all the DMC's you'll need as well as the quantities. :) Some of the HAEDs also have a downloadable color list available.

I'm not going to lie to you - it is a pricey way to diamond paint. The canvas was about $35 and the drills were around $100. The plus (for me) is that these aren't canvases where you churn out 3 or 4 a month. This is definitely more of a long-term time investment. 😁

I went to HAED and wondered what is “tape glue.”

Probably double sided adhesive depending on where you saw it….her pre made canvases can be dsa or poured glue you get to pick

Anxiety Girl nailed it! Yes, tape glue is double sided adhesive, which is applied in big strips of what is essentially tape. Poured glue starts out as a liquid and then dries with a tacky finish.

I have a HAED I am dying to do (tapestry) and I want to use Jade's drills. The drills are expensive but I think they are worth it - I have seen too many people frustrated by HAED projects because of the drills. My birthday is coming up so I am just waiting for one of my kids to ask what I want for my birthday. 🙂

The advantage with Jade I think is that she uses her drills on her own HAED canvases, so the sizing is right. The tricky part with getting drills and canvas from different suppliers can be that the two sizes don't always play nice together. Plus they're resin and SO SPARKLY! 😍
