You’re a real combine driver now Chris! Reading the manuals will help a lot. Take your time exploring the whole machine once it’s in the shop. The old 301 sounds good.

Very limited experience with combines. I think the cost of repairs prohibited the learning curve. Thank you Chris.

Great project Chris, there Great machines that men in the past kept going with a crescent wrench and a hammer, you'll do fine! Read your manual and make adjustments and soon it will be A1.

Thats awesome Mr Chris, so happy for ya!! That thing is a beast, such a wide footprint!!! Double check that manual on the ATF vs HYDRAULIC , and the variable speed (ground speed) gives you options of speed travel for each of the three gears. It is a hydraulically operated pulley that changes the belt depth for a faster or slower speed. You cheated, had a helper watching the wheels at first 🤣🤣🤣 That infamous slapping sound is the unload auger belt😉 Runs like a top! I can't wait to see more details over the winter on the the G 😁😁 You did excellent in my opinion, I am gonna cheat as well and install some modem technology to ole Glenda, I have bumped the gate poles already 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Awesome video my friend, thank you sir!! That looks like it's going to make you a great combine!! 😁😁😁😁👍👍👍🌽🌽🌱🌱🌾🌾🇺🇸🇺🇸

For the record both of you have more experience than I do. Dad was territorial with the old combines. I did operate one briefly for a friend.

Engine needs to run around 1500 rpm’s for variable speed and header lift to work efficiently. Enjoyed the video You can lower head for rain to roll off . These are fyi

Chris, you're doing just fine. You just got to give yourself time to learn soon as you get it in the shop and you start working on it, you will start to understand things a little more. Plus reading the manuals will be a huge help by next spring. I bet you'll feel pretty comfortable and excited to try it out.

Ground speed let's you increase and decrease your speed in each gear by pushing or pulling that lever. I have a L and a M with electric push button ground speed.

the older gleaners used atf or red transmission fluid in ALL the hydraulics, only one reservoir. the variable speed is a hydraulic shive right under the grain unload auger - should change sizes even if it is not running full . check you hydraulic fluid again bet it is low again, should be a lower lever near the floor on the rt side to put the thrasher in gear, lever on left side on floor/ back wall is unload auger . never ran one with a corn head. one of the levers on the console ground speed and header height (pull up or down) should be a lock or stop on the lift cylinders under the header just inside the front wheels the other should be a reel height / speed lever push forward AND HOLD it there for speed(the hydraulics are Not very fast) up and down for height. after cutting Always open elevator doors and run FULL out to clean out . Big trap door under the front Just behind header , it opens to the grain cylinder, (big pulley on rt side near header (16.03on vid) check the state of your cylinder bars( grooved bars bolted on cylinder and rasp bars(u shaped bars they run against)). the bike chain outside the window is hooked to a crank below the key console it changes the grain cylinder speed LUB it !!cylinder height is by 2 long all thread bolts one on each side. some had a toothed cylinder bar for corn i think . in the cab overhead on the rt should be a filter housing for the cab blower. should be a flat spade shaped wrench with a square loop on the back side of it also has a shallow hole in the other end loop goes over the cylinder trap door, hole pushes spring loaded tapered pin to release the header bottom (big cast hooks on top). transmission is mated direct to the front diff and axle assembly, penetrate the shifter rods and linkages. brakes if you have 3 pedals on the rt side are left /right/ both , side brakes are hydraulic the fill plugs are under floor boards ; big red light is cylinder trap door sensor (if you run a big slug of straw through sometimes it will blow the door open) looks like you are missing the straw chopper or straw spreader to go on the back Hope this helps give you a little overview of it . check the cross tubes under the combine that feed the elevators they rust out especially if you dont open the clean out doors
