@@mollyesanbornI think it might be their debut album, they have a song called Afterlife and I don’t even listen to this genre of metal as much but that song is rlly good, same with Hail to the King, and personally Afterlife is rlly emotional bc it makes me think of an ex I had who introduced them to me, and it’s one of those hard teenage memories about the person you at least think or thought you love or loved Shit makes me cry, and I’m not a crier

Many people are suggesting Waking the fallen, which ofcorse is totally understandable, but I think Life is but a dream is really the best album you can react to from what's left. It's just SO different from any other album they've made. It has so many different elements and it gets different with every song. Unlike many albums this one requires a full listen to understand the concept and really feel each and every song. I love how all the songs are so different from each other, but they all blend perfectly at the same time. It's probably my favourite or second favourite album by them.

Its hard to recommend just one album so I'll give you a few to pick from if you decide to gibe them a shot. Their lyrics are in Japanese though but i promise it doesn't make them less enjoyable. They have a few one song albums that you could try if you like really noisy and dissonate ambient music. I would reccomend either Feedbacker or Flood. If you prefer something more active and riffy I would recommend either their album Pink or Akuma No Uta. All of those are great boris starting points and madterpieces of albums. While Nightmare is my favorite album personally from them, I think WTF has the best mix of their more heavy metalcore side with the melodic and dramatic side that takes precedent on all the albums after it. Fans often consider it one of their absolute best, but it never got the commercial recognition that their previous albums got, so it can be forgotten sometimes.

I love this album but it was different from their others. It had a more classic hard rock and metal sound. The best thing about Avenged Sevenfold is regardless if you love them or hate them they keep trying new thing and changing their sound on each album. Their latest album is their more experimental. A bit too much for me but at least they tried something different. I am not sure why they get so much hate as they are better that alot of other bands. Could be that they changed their sound on their 3rd album and found commercial success. Why is that a bad thing?

even thou i really like a few songs from this album, the whole album isn't my favourite, many fans feel this way because this album was tribute to the early rock/metal bands they grew up listening to, u could notice the influence of that in a few tracks, and in my opinion this albums lacks the unique sounds of avenged sevenfold, from the album you have left to check out first i would recommend "waking the fallen", than "The Stage" and lastly their most recent album "life is but a dream". their first official album "sounding of seventh trumpet" isn't worthy of listening to in my opinion because they made that album when band's members were teens, so it lacks quality and music production but it's great to check out if you wanna see the progress they went through from their first album to their latest, for this band almost every album sounds different that's why they have so many haters, when one album was appealing to certain audience and on other album they sounds different many people don't like that since they want to hear same sound they liked from this band

This album has some of Gates' best guitar solos, but aside from that it's not my favorite.

They go in the "bands I should like but dont" category. I respect them as musicians but they do not move me. This entire album feels like a parody to me. I still enjoy your take as always.

Great album, both HTTK and City of Evil. Imo, Nightmare and the white album are equally A7X’s top two.

Most generic album in their discography, pretty much composed to sound like the bands they were inspired by growing up still a good album tho
@ninja_tony
@ninja_tony Ай бұрын
Does that really make it generic though? As you said, they are intentionally channeling their favorite bands from their youth. People always incorrectly call this album a ripoff, but it was MEANT to be a tribute to those bands. In my opinion, they even outdo Metallica in some parts of the album.
@Ratovx
@Ratovx Ай бұрын
@@ninja_tony Yes, generic doesn't mean ripoff, the only song that could be a ripoff is This Means War. But the album as a whole is generic, nothing new just repeating formulas unlike all their a7x stuff

I can definitely hear that inspiration from earlier bands in their music, Avenged Sevenfold does a great job fusing so many styles on one record.
