as someone who got his r3 within the last two months, even looking at an mt10 through video feels like a death threat

I spent a year on my husky svartpilen 401 for my first bike. Picked up the mt10 last year and Im just a few weeks short of having it a year. It's been a fantastic upgrade. With the rider modes, it allows you to work your way into the bike and power.
@TrizerFlame7 ай бұрын
Honestly, a MT-07 would be just enough of a upgrade from the R3. I’ve demo the MT-09sp and it just asking for trouble. Breaks stops on a dime, throttle response gives plenty of power while asking to be open up. The power, weight, breaking, and the addiction of the MT10 and R1 is far beyond the R3. But once you have the skills and mastery, any bike will be rideable for you.
@trynagetspreadsheetslikeexcel7 ай бұрын
if it makes you feel any better, im a fairly extreme adrenaline junky, and i decided to buy a 2011 R1 for my first bike. I crashed it on a 4 lane highway coming over a hill at 45 mph because traffic was at a dead stop and I couldn't see it until it was too late, but BEFORE that it was my favorite thing in this world. Never gone so fast or had so much fun. Full exhaust, race tune, low voidrate racing tires, and a cracked radiator lol

I rode my Yamaha Tracer for a year before I bought my new 2023 MT-10 ...it was SO shockingly more powerful I actually pulled over a few blocks away from the shop and put it in the highest mode I call rain mode I did it because my brain was calibrated to an overweight MT09 and kept unconsciously giving too much throttle input having said that within a day or so I was used to it and not scaring myself accidently....muscle memory is REAL and you dont realize HOW real until you do something brand new with jarring conquences! Your brain has to LEARN every powerful throttle....and brakes and cluthes whatever might feel remarkably new

Put on a simple decat link pipe with the stock headers and muffler, and get the ECU flashed, and it picks up 10hp up top, easily. That simple mod puts about 150hp to the wheel, rather than the 138ish it comes with. It's a brilliant bike
@theenzoferrari4587 ай бұрын
It comes with 150 stock from the factory. What are you on about?
@Daves_Man_Cave7 ай бұрын
@@theenzoferrari458 Manufacturers advertise hp measured at the crank. But you lose about 15% of that through drivetrain losses, so the dyno measures the HP at the wheel. Same with cars. By the time the crank HP has to overcome all the losses going through the transmission to the wheels, you end up being about 15% lower than the car/bike maker claims. When you get rid of the CAT and flash the ECU to remove all the throttle by wire restrictions and get it tuned, you pick up 10-12hp at the wheel. Meaning, your new HP at the crank is closer to 175hp...
@Daves_Man_Cave7 ай бұрын

WORST thing about the MT 10 is its THIRST for fuel! I call mine my EMPTY TEN because most of the time is already in need of gas Another bad thing is its geared to high sort of hard to take off from a stop compared to lower geared models (fixable) Also the clutch is way harder to operate than many smaller machines....but the quick shifter sorta makes that a moot point. Another bad thing is its a naked so no wind protection which gets OLD at higher highway speeds. Also stock it is really stiff suspension unless you are heavier I am only 165 plus gear so I had some adjusting to do ! My stock rear tire lasted 600miles to the wear bar and that was break in! No burnouts just all twisties which destroy tires on a liter bike
@trashman8356 ай бұрын
These bikes are wheelie machines absolutely love my MT10. If the bike doesnt have its ECU flashed you can get it done by 2Wheel DynoWorks or moore mafia they make the best tunes for these bikes but get it done it turns these bikes into a different beast and it’s fucking insane it opens the mt10 right up. These bikes arnt very keen on running lean. Another thing doing oil changes the oil filter is above the pipes i just found a piece of plastic and you can just rest it on the pipes at angle to drip it into the pan without spilling anything on your pipes. I found once the fuel light comes on you have about 30ish miles left give or take.
@dougiequick15 ай бұрын
I HOPE you meant the FUEL light! LOL....hopefully your 10 is not burning oil like a fool! BTW I feel like it is bad to run tanks to empty as it can damage fuel pumps....Id rather gas up the moment that light comes on rather than play with getting 25 of 30 supposed miles ....which is so variable on a bike like this!
@trashman8355 ай бұрын

take a riders course! Dont die! It is so easy to REALLY screw up fresh to motorcycles....REALLY easy you MUST train your brain and you MUST understand motorcycle behavior.....a course ! FIRST thing new to motorcycles is training your brain to automatic muscle memory ...an empty parking lot very slow slowly let clutchout apply throttle go just a little throttle off clutch in front brake full stop rinse and repeat dozens of times it will be fun and is CRUCIAL to not crashing in the first 1 mile of riding....doing this does NOT mean you are ready for the world but you are ready for a motorcycle school to teach the rest....another tip when riding loose hands and arms hang on with knees and ankles push right handlebar to go right (at speed not parking lot slow speed) push left handlebar to go left ....work on this THINK about this BELIEVE this...if you forget and panick you could easily end up in oncomint traffic because you failed to countersteer...THAT has killed MANY MANY new and returning riders! I was off bikes for years and assumed the old "its like riding a bicycle you never forget" hey I rode and RACED motorcycles for many YEARS and I DID foget! Following my brother in the twisties I FORGOT countersteering and panicked overcooking a curve and ended up in oncoming lane! WHEW no cars coming or I would have been dead likely! THAT is why you need schooling! you NEED to understand everything! learning "the hard way" is NOT for motorcycles! LOL maybe for computer games but NOT the real thing! Trust me!
