The symbols that pop up in the bottom during cutscenes that denote paragon/renegade actions are important to keep an eye out for. Some have pretty drastic results if you do or don't trigger them.

Please don't spoil this game, don't read too much into the comments and DON'T walk back on your decisions, no matter what happens! You can replay the whole Trilogy later however you like, but you can only play it blind ONCE, and you should carry the burden of your decisions all the way to the end of it all.

My only gripe about the Legendary Edition is that they changed the dialogue between Miranda and TIM in the opening. The original 2010 ME2 actually had Miranda say what choices you did. After she says "More than we could have hoped for" she elaborates "Saving the Citadel, even saving the Council" or "But letting the Council die" depending on your choice. Such a small but important piece of dialogue to me because it felt like someone within the game saw your choices.

When ME1 was first released it was an XBox/PC exclusive. With ME2 Bioware/EA released the game for Playstation as well, but wanted a way for PS players to make some of the choices they couldn't get by not having the access to ME1. The comic summarising ME1 was, therefore, created for that purpose. If you didn't have an ME1 import, the comic would ask you to make key choices (Kaiden/Ashley, Save/Abandon the council etc) which could then be incorporated in your ME2 game

Great to see you back on the Normandy. ME2 significantly overhauls the combat mechanics; one thing that is not well explained is that you can now perform biotic combos. If a target is lifted into the air by pull or singularity (or slam as well, but the timing is trickier) and you hit them with warp (shockwave and throw work too IIRC) you get a detonation that deals extra damage. The powers used to set it up can be performed by two different characters but you need to strip defences (armour, shields, and barriers, i.e. you need the health bar to be red) to be able to lift them with biotics.

@thajocoth2 жыл бұрын
In the original version, they ask on the shuttle who you chose as the human councilor as part of the memory test. The reason is that the original version of Mass Effect 1's save file didn't save that final decision, so the import didn't know the answer. I see that they fixed that for the Legendary Edition & removed the question.

I kind of hate that the comic says that Saren died believing the reapers would save him. That isn't true. At least not if you do the paragon charm choices. Saren is able to break free from indoctrination long enough to realize he is wrong but that he can only stop it by taking his own life. He thanks Shepard for helping him.

1:20 Well...we all expect one playthrough for each romance option in any of the games. That's 12 unique playthroughs in total ;-) Regarding the difficulty...maybe you should ramp it up one step to hardcore or insanity for ME 2 and 3 - the games are balanced for a fresh level 1 character especially in the early game (some people start directly with game 2 or 3 and therefore with a new level 1 Shepard - however your imported character is considerably stronger which means the enemies will be a lot easier for you to handle). Fortunately you can change the difficulty at any point if it gets too easy. 59:35 That's not what this is - it is predetermined when you wear armor and when you wear casual cloths. In case of the armor this allows you to use different pieces of gear that provide different bonuses. The casual cloths are simply for visual effects in all situations when Shepard doesn't wear armor. Both options are there for customizing your character. A dedicated RPG-style equipment system like in ME1 was removed from ME2 and 3. If you don't import a character these are the defaults: Council dead, Wrex dead, Rachni queen dead, Udina on council, no love interest, opposite gender human survives Virmire (=Ash survives in MaleShep and Kaidan in FemShep playthroughs). 1:26:00 That depends on your settings. If you deactivated automatic power use or set it to defensive the squad mates will not use offensive powers on their own. Some people prefer it that way, however I always found (and was proven in many of the playthroughs I watched) that automatic power usage is way better - players tend to be way less efficient in using the powers than the AI. It also greatly disrupts the game flow, especially on console, because you have to open the menu all the time (on PC you can set not only Shepards but also the squad mate powers on shortkeys). In the end it comes down to what you prefer.

In this game, taking cover is so much more important (especially on higher difficulties) than ME1. You'll want to take that into consideration. Also, don't be afraid to use your powers (especially biotic charge) more. With the inclusion of an ammo system, powers are even more important now.

Best opening to a game ever, but dang it really packs a punch! And Tali sure has grown these past 2 years, now she’s giving orders. I realize I missed my chance for giving advice for intro section, but for your 2nd playthrough: The game gives you all of ME1 codex as new and unread, so as soon as Shepard wakes up, can mark all codex as read. That way when codex gives new updates it will be easier to find. Also, your Shepard was imported in at level 4 so has skill points to allocate. So 2nd thing to do is level up-fighting goes much easier then as Shepard (and squad) have more abilities. 😃

This is a great game with one of the craziest openings ever, and some set pieces that are amazing. You'll figure out the new system pretty quickly, but as others have said, using cover is really useful, and learning what abilities or weapon types negate what type of enemy defense will be super important. Using squad powers can help set you up for really powerful combinations, too. Don't forget to level up! Some tips that may help: fast weapons like SMG's or assault rifles are good on shields or barriers (blue and purple health bars), while slower weapons like shotguns or pistols are better on armor (yellow bars). Overload is great on shields, while stuff like Warp or Incinerate is good against armor. I am excited to see what you think of the game and what choices you make!

Just like in ME1, you can direct your squad to take cover or target an enemy, or return to your position. Directing them improves their accuracy and damage, protects them from enemy fire, and keeps them from getting in your way during a firefight. Your weapons also have strengths and weaknesses - fast-firing weapons like the SMG and assault rifle are great against shields, while slow-firing weapons like shotguns, sniper rifles, and pistols are better against armor and biotic barriers. Your squadmates each carry two weapons with these strengths in mind. As a Vanguard, your main weapon is the shotgun, which works best up close; the strategy is to use Charge to close in and slam into the enemy, then finish them off with the shotgun. This leaves you vulnerable to counterattack, though, so you have to be ready to take down everyone nearby or get out of danger quickly. It's a very high-risk, high-reward class. I prefer Infiltrator, which has a cloaking device and Incinerate attack, and Engineer, that has A.I. Hacking and an attack drone that acts like an independent squadmate. Also, killing mechs with headshots causes them to explode. The big YMIR mechs will sometimes go "nuclear" upon headshot death, unleashing a wide-ranging blast taking out anything nearby. And keep your eyes peeled for potential Paragon and Renegade Interrupts (like the one you used with Veetor). They're almost entirely beneficial, and let Shepard have a more direct interaction in cutscenes. They also give you more freedom in the Paragon/Renegade spectrum - even in a Paragon playthrough, I still use most of the Renegade Interrupts, especially when dealing with mercs and gang members. You've finished the prologue, and are now in Act 1. And they just dump all these missions on you. 😆 Recruiting the main four dossiers will advance the main story, bringing up Act 2 - and an even greater number of missions to complete. From here to the end of ME3, "Priority" missions are best saved for last. It'll take a few episodes just to clear out your mission log. Two dossiers you can recruit without advancing the story are The Veteran and The Thief, which were DLC and are simply cutscenes where you meet your new squadmates, meaning you can grab both of them before doing any missions. Other DLC: Overlord is a long, multistage mission that assumes you've done the Firewalker DLC. Overlord is an incredible mission, but it might be best to save it for a little later, when you've gotten used to the game's new features first.

Damn! I am a day late! Will update this after watching! Edit - Watched it! Always love the first reactions to the explosive opening of ME2. But it has just begun, there's a lot to find and learn. If you just start from ME2, and/or don't import save, the interactive comic gives the big choices and you get to chose on the spot, this obviously means any side stuff isn't carried over (like you capturing Balak, helping Tali etc.). It is quite irritating that Feros isn't mentioned because that's where Shep get the Cypher to even understand the Prothean vision and language. The combat is quite fun in this one, check if Auto Squad power use is enabled. Also, always make sure to distribute points and their guns. Shepard heals on his own, it's explained in the game in codex. Well, a lot has happened in the 2 years and I have a lot of lore to share for it. I'll mention that in the codex there's a timeline (ME1 had it too), but this one is a bit for focused on Cerberus. An iOS game called Mass Effect Galaxy was released before this. We play as Jacob in it. It's his first meeting with Miranda and the mission where he joins with Cerberus. I'll give out the details when Jacob talks about it. There's a novel released before this game too, the events of it forced Cerberus to become a public organisation, earlier people didn't know about it but TIM took some decisions and everyone learnt how powerful Cerberus is. I'll give out it's details in the coming parts. Thr biggest mystery of the game is obviously The Illusive Man, who I'll call TIM (or Tim, or his real name if you'd like) from now on. His and Cerberus origins are in a comic that takes place during First Contact War, at Shanxi. Spoilers for Mass Effect Evolution a 4 issue Comic! Skip this part if you want to read it on your own. The art is great and striking just like the interactive comic's art. It begins with Three "mercs" (working outside Alliance, but helping them) Jack Harper, Ben Hislop, and Eva Coré are tracking a squad of 7 Turian soldiers on Shanxi. An ambush later, one of them is taken prisoner who Ben also wanted killed because of his personal losses in First Contact War, but Jack reminds him that they are here for intel gathering and if he wants to kill Turians he should join the military. A Mako pulls up to them, and all of them are taken to General Williams (Yes, Ashley's grandfather). He reveals that Alliance is retreating because of the losses and only Jack's team can help figure out what the Turians were doing Because Alliance intel had said Turians were looking for something on Shanxi, which Alliance themselves hadn't found yet. Jack requests 20 hours to figure out Turian motives and leaves with his friends and the Turian prisoner. Jack finds a device on the prisoner, but he doesn't reveal what it is. He reveals that his name is Desolas Arterius (yes, Saren's brother) and if humans don't release him they'll all be killed. Jack reveals that he knows that Desolas is a General in the Turian army, and the device is a communicator with Turian camp. Desolas is impressed but says that Humans want everything for themselves as new arrivals, but many more have come before them and Turians aren't gonna give even a kilometre of the planet. Jack replies that now it's time to Divide and Conquer. At the Turian camp Desolas' Lieutenant Abrudas is angry at Turian researchers. They have found an Old Relic, and moved it to a 5km network of caves to hide it. He's about to tell this info to Desolas using his communicator when Desolas calls him. The static filled transmission says that he's escaped and meet him. Abrudas informs him that the relic has been found, but Desolas says that he's hurt and can't move much. Abrudas divides his squad in two, one to recover the relic and the other to save Desolas. Jack's plan works both the General and Lieutenant are captured, and he forces them to reveal what they were after. Desolas only warns him by saying "be careful what you look for human. You may find it." Jack, Ben and Eva ambush the relic recovery team and threaten them with Mako's guns and the captured Desolas and Abrudas. Desolas order his soldiers to stand down, and allows Jack to "satisfy his Curiosity". Jack and Ben enter the cave, leaving Eva behind who assures that she'll run anyone over with the Mako if they try to pull a trick. Inside is a large object with glowing chains extending from it. Jack notes that it was moved here but Ben says that people would have to be monster sized to move something so huge. A group of strong creatures in robes ambush them, but while they win the fight, they are astonished at the amount of bullets it took kill them. Jack pulls back the hood on one of they creature and it turns out to be Turian with some cybernetic implant (like Saren had in ME1, Yes this basically means the creatures were Reaperified Turians, kinda Husks but made from Turians instead of humans). Jack tries to radio Eva and General Williams but there's interference blocking that. Ben moves towards the relic, assuming that it is the cause and he may be able to turn it off Jack tries to stop him, but Ben gets hit by a pulse from the Relic that immobilizes him. Jack tries to save him but a pulse from Ben and they both fall on the floor. Eva rushes in, injured and in ragged clothes saying that another Turian squad came because of the lights in the Cave and all three are captured by a large Turian. Desolas says now it's time for them to study them, because Ben was hit with the pulse. This was first issue. I'll write out the next issues in the next few parts, because I didn't know the comment would be this long. You already know how interesting it is though! Ash's grandfather knew TIM (Yes, i haven't revealed his identity yet), and a Reaper Artifact is involved so early in the timeline.

There are lots of comments on your vids so I have no idea if you figured this out in your later vids, but the armor customization is just that. You don't choose Casual or Armored at that moment, you are choosing what you look like during those times that you are attired appropriately. For example, you will be Casually clothed while in the Normandy and you're Armored while on missions. You are simply choosing the look that they take.

Mass Effect 1 did the humongous task of doing most of the worldbuilding, but Mass Effect 2 had the most locations and side missions it felt like. Medigel wont save you if you just dive into a group of enemies with out securing you rear, flanks and finding immediate cover. Shepard is far too squishy to just go into a bunch of enemies, Charge is a great skill but its also great at getting you into trouble if you leap before you look. Its not a finisher, its not an equaliser, Its a gap closer with some knockback built in, its best use is for covering long distances, retreating back over covered ground is not ideal after use. Used properly it can be devastating, used recklessly a reload screen is your best outcome. You'll get it Im sure, new skills take time, just be careful. Dont be too disparaged if you get your ass handed to you repeatedly, its the only way you really learn, but you have to learn.
