This Day Aria is fantastic not just because it sounds good, but also because of how it's handled musically. I forget the specifics, but it's along the lines of the 'mangy' pony singing a true or full cadence or something like that, and the dressed up pony singing a deceptive cadence, alongside the fact that an aria is a piece sung by only one person, and while there's only one singer for this song, it's performed by two characters. There's a third thing which elaborates on the first thing but it gets into spoiler territory. One of MLP's best songs.

The real Cadance is singing an authentic cadence (the dominant pushes into the root), while the fake Cadance is singing a deceptive cadence (the dominant pushes into the submediant).

Smile HD, along with cupcakes HD are two videos that I would never suggest to somebody as an introduction to the series. And I always worry that when somebody says they’re going to react to the smile song that they accidentally find HD first.

The Smile Song is like the Brony check song. If you dislike it, the show might not be something for you, if you like it, the show might be perfect. One of my favorite songs is "you're in my heart like a catchy song" Its a love song between Applejacks Parents. Its really special, especialy if you watched the Episode to it. Aj, Applebloom and Bigmac go around town and try to lern more about their dead Parents, hearing little Stories from Ponies that knew those 2. Its sad and beautiful, i'm pretty sure many cried in that episode. Those two are just great, sadly its the only epidode where you'll see those two

There are so many great songs I could recommend from across the series. A Kirin Tale is one of the best, also The Magic Inside, A True True Friend (if you really don't mind spoilers), You'll Play Your Part, Let the Rainbow Remind You, Super Duper Party Pony, Dubstep Cello (not technically a song but close enough and worth watching). If we're including songs from the movie then add The Friend You Need, Time to be Awesome, One Small Thing, and Open Up Your Eyes. And if we're including Equestria Girls then the list gets REALLY long: Cafeteria Song, Battle of the Bands, Welcome to the Show, My Past is Not Today, Acadeca, Unleash the Magic, What More is Out There, Coinky-dink World, Let it Rain, Dance Magic. Sorry for the super long list but this series really does kill it with the music, and I'm sure there's still more I'm forgetting.

Another one I would add (that doesn't seem to get enough love) is Luna's Future. It's a short one, but I'm such a sucker for the sweeping orchestral style. Celestia's Ballad is also a great one, but without getting into spoilers, that one might be better with the context of the episode it's from.

just try and avoid Smile HD for a good while. the song in it slaps but the video is gruesome, the song by itself i believe is smile rmx by foozogs. definitely gonna have to check out some fan songs though. The fandom went nuts with music, just feral with it. it was glorious.
