A baptism of fire at my first ultra endurance cycling event, A Bike Race roughly the size of Wales! You can find out more info here www.abikerace.co.uk/ I knew this was going to be a huge undertaking and that it wouldn't be plain sailing.

Thank you for watching this video. I hope that you keep up with the regular videos I post on the channel, subscribe, and share your learnings with those that need to hear it. Your comments are important to me, so please take a second and say ‘Hey’ ;).
Ed is an elite cyclist, 2019 British Hill Climb Champion and former Under 23 British RR Champion. He has raced as a Continental level Professional Rider in Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, Azerbaijan to name a few. He is also a public speaker, coach, and remains grounded with regular returns to his roots at Bynea Cycling Club. At the start of 2021, the Discord community began, and plonked many of Ed's viewers in to a 350+ strong group of people that had many things in common. Not least wanting to explore the world and pedal their bikes faster!
Ed coaches lots of cyclists in the online community too! If you are interested, email laverackcoaching@yahoo.com for information on the 1-2-1 coaching package and training plans, of which there are many!
Ed now prioritises having fun with my hard earned fitness and knowledge in the sport. Showcasing that maybe there is an alternative to racing for teams when you can race for yourself and your community of followers and brands. This KZbin channel is a docu-series highlighting what it’s like to be a cyclist in today’s competitive age of sport.

Awesome video. I often wonder how I would do long events without Boosts - they are amazing. Also, good on you for knowing when to stop, takes a lot to do that after training/sacrificing etc so shows a lot!!! Also helps us lot know it’s okay too! Cheers.

You are amazing for embarking on the race and for how far you got, let alone documenting it in the way you have, or listening to your body when it is screaming to stop.

I salute the decision, and as said in the message you got, showing up is the first challenge. Stopping before it's too late for bad injuries was smart. Wishing you good recovery !

Great video Ed, lovely to see my native country so nicely captured (and more than just the usual Snowdonia stuff normally seen on KZbin!). You've inspired me to sort out a week's stay with an old friend in Aberystwyth, so the plan is to reacquaint myself with rides I've not done since I was a teenager 40+ years ago (Nant-y-moch, Llyn Brianne, Cwm Ystwyth/Elan Valley and a few others), so thanks for that :-)

Firstly really really enjoyed the video. And at the end of the day you can always give it another go another time. I could see how much you were enjoying it at the start but then again I could also see the discomfort you were in near the end. So Chin up rest up and crack on with your next challenge and mostly keep smiling 🙂 👍

Totally enjoyed the video. I live in Bristol so keen to see the areas in Wales. Was looking forward to seeing you complete the route. It takes a strong man to realise that something is wrong, better to walk away, rather than carrying on (nee injury) wise choice.

I had to laugh very much when you weer reading the quote out loud. I Imagine myself turning up at the start of a sportive and then turn around and go home right away, thinking "That's it! Valuable lesson I learned was it is most important to turn up at the start 😂"

It was great to meet you Ed! Shame about the knee:( it was my left knee that went too and having carried on I think I may have done some damage to it now for sure, so good decision I think by yourself 👍 I agree the headwind was brutal and some of those hills…. I think I’ll do it again next year so perhaps see you again then 👌

@@beermonster1234 hi Chris! Thanks! It was my first ultra race so happy with how it went, I slept for 13 hours when I was finished I was totally knackered 🤣 in the race the first night I slept for 3.5 hours which is where Ed re overtook me in the night and then the next night I could only sleep for an hour as I was outside in just a sleeping bag and it was raining 🤣 Not riding for a few days so will see how the knee is on the weekend but not feeling great at the moment

Enjoyed that Distances you ride are like telephone numbers to me but then anything pushing the max of an individual “longest ride” is essentially the same thing I guess, plus I’m old and not built like a Japanese racing snake … nor do I ever race, but I enjoy that same “pushing myself” thing. Great to see, new to the channel so subscribed because you are a natural story teller and come over very straightforward and honest. Thanks for that
