You may not be a make-up artist, but for me, this is the best of the many makeup videos I have seen. So good to see someone working with their actual features instead of with some picture in their head, and without caking on the product! Not to mention that I love the 5-minutes part. I always giggle when KZbinrs say they are going to show their everyday makeup routine, and then it takes 25 minutes. Sadly, I am not enough of an organizing genius that I could free up 25 minutes for makeup every day...

I feel like Instagram started out as an outlet for artists to express themselves and is now becoming a huge source of pressure on girls so that they wear lots of makeup... I LOVE makeup, I do crazy stuff all the time for my Instagram, but for everyday I prefer natural makeup (or even no makeup) and I do wish it would become a trend instead of the full coverage foundations and endless cutcreases and liquid lipsticks...

Amanda, I agree...ain't nobody got time for that! lol It's just unnecessary, these young women already have beautiful skin and they slather that stuff on like they're greasing a cake pan! I love using loose powder to spot conceal only where needed and even then it's just "dot, dot, and go".

Mind blowingly simple and chic, Justine! I live in Paris and so many people here love natural makeup. It is such a French thing, and so much better. I only wear a little tinted moisturiser, concealer, brow wax, rouge, a bit of smudged kohl eyeliner (my eyes are black but my skin is white, so the contrast looks ridiculous without eyeliner) and a lipstick I 'made' by melting a nude Mac colour and adding it to lip balm! Like your routine (which I am now wanting to try!) it only takes 5 minutes and then wham - off to work/pilates/yoga/dance around the living room! I also hate the waterproof mascaras and I am so definitely going to try the one you have - bound to have it in a local Pharmacie! I grew up in another country but since coming to Paris, my makeup has been much neater and simpler and more natural, and I feel like a human being when I wear it! Thank you so much for this wonderful video and for showing your lovely smooth skin and kindly smile to us!! You always make me laugh and brighten up my day during an otherwise quite tough part of my life :)

I'm looking forward to moving back to Europe where people appreciate a more natural aesthetic, especially on women over 50. There's a difference between looking like a more awake, improved version of yourself and looking like you're ready to go on camera for a TV show. I live outside LA, and everything is so overdone and so fake. I finally found a hair stylist who encourages me to just wear my hair long and simple, instead wanting to do one of those horrible spiky frosted hairdos that so many older American women have. My makeup routine depends on if I'm leaving the house or not (I work from home). When I'm going out, it's tinted moisturizer with sunscreen, under-eye concealer, brow pencil, mascara, blush, and lip gloss/lipstick. I only add eye shadow and liner if I'm going out at night or to a formal event. The older you get, the worse too much make up looks on you.

+Jamieson Paine Way to get offended over nothing. She meant the average working woman that doesn't have the time and energy to put on makeup like a fashion model for a photo shoot. And yes, most women don't wear tons of makeup every day, but still want to look polished. Many KZbinrs don't have normal working class schedules, so their makeup routine is longer.

I admire your natural makeup look, and I was pleased to see we use many of the same products. The NYX brow shade I use is blonde. It's very hard to find brow color that looks natural for blondes. Most look gray or yellow. Your beauty is enhanced with these products, not camouflaged. That is my goal, too. Thank you for letting us see how you enhance your natural beauty.

I love the natural way you keep by putting on minimal. I am not a fan of those “doll-like” make up faces, nor would I spend hours putting layers and layers of make up. I used to say to myself (when I was younger), imagine having those layers on, you have a new partner and then you wake up next to him the following morning, looking totally different from the person he saw the night before! How scary would that be. LOL. Once I signed up as a volunteer to have my face “dressed up”. As soon as it was done, I had a feeling my skin was not breathing. I could not wait to get home to wash it all off! Natural is the way to go.

I will quickly throw the bulk of North American makeup tutorials under the bus (sorry!). So garish and overdone. Love it girls!-just not the day to day look I’m seeking) Thank you, Justine! 🖤

Simple: any amount of make-up that leaves one looking like a $50 hooker is not 'better'! The 'old school rules' of simple, timeless elegance and feminine, womanly beauty were established for a _reason_ ~ because they *work* -- and they still apply.

Much needed content! So many young girls on KZbin (and consequently in everyday life) spend so much time caking on makeup that completely changes their appearance. it saddens me a bit. I agree for special occasions it is wonderful to look glamorous and flawless, but it becomes a daily habit, and women from a young age start feeling they need to hide their face. I am not adept at makeup so my routine looks very similar to yours - moisture + spf, concealer, multicolour bronzer used in various areas and mascara for special events. I used to be embarrassed I didn't even know what bb cream, contouring or highlighting were. Thank you for showing us that none of it matters and that our skin isn't something to hide but something to care for!

One product I really love is Perricone MD No-Eyeshadow Eyeshadow. I have veins and some discoloration on my eyelids so I can't go totally bare, but I love the natural look. That product covers all the "bad" but doesn't look like makeup, and doesn't crease or anything like concealers do. I stocked up from Costco because they were selling it much cheaper than Sephora 😊😊

I can't remember what was I doing with my face at Justine's age? Mascara and bronzer/blush for sure, moisturiser. Didn't even think about genes, collagen, etc. Since I hit 50 and then on, every morning I discover yet another thing that should be "lifted up" so that I look more awake and fresh. Except for the dark circles (not running in my family), you name it, I have it. I end up with a bit more defined eyebrows, eye lushes dark and curled and blush or bronzer. The rest of It? I stay away from magnifying mirrors and enjoy watching young and fresh faces around me with or without makeup and have smile on my face:) In 5 minutes I can't "lift up" even my coffee cup, let alone anything on my face:)))))

Justine, your eyes are your most beautiful feature, the shape and color. I think you under estimate how pretty your natural eyebrows are. They complement your eyes without over-powering them. So you really don't have to do to make them much fuller. You are a very lucky girl. I just found you. I love your personality and love your videos. I've learned a lot already. Thank you!

Thanks for the realistic morning routine :) I think it is also important to check if spf is mineral (titanium or zinc) or chemical (everything else). Chemical sunscreens are not so good for the health and for the environment. Cheers! 😘

She’s never lost her identity in the name of KZbin. She carries herself the way she feels comfortable and right in. Some KZbinrs even though they start off well, eventually get lured to some of the viral trends to get more views. That’s what I like this channel for.

The only thing I do anymore is cover up redness and blemishes (I do get the occasional zit) and sometimes the circles under my eyes. When I'm going out, I apply mascara and some lipstick. Some days, I don't apply anything to my face at all. I've gone from never leaving the house without strong eyeliner and eyeshadow to doing the absolute minimum. My goal for the future is to implement a better skin scare routine that will allow me to get away with never using concealer/foundation again (or at least a lot less frequently). I love wearing close to zero makeup. It's so liberating and a huge time saver too :D

nervengewitter Same!! It seems like there are more and more of us these days doing that. I got really into the youtube beauty stuff and, embarrassingly, bought soooo much expensive stuff at Sephora and beyond in the course of 2 years or so. Foundation plus concealer plus color corrector plus contour and blush and highlight and 5 colors of eyeshadow and liner and mascara....omg it was horrible and heavy and my skin hated it, yielding the need for more makeup to cover the skin problems. Now I do a light layer of Bare Minerals foundation, Perricone MD No-Eyeshadow Eyeshadow, mascara, and some blush, and my skin is happier and I look more like myself. I see more women going natural now vs. the full-face!

Mineral powder foundation can be a great in between when you're transitioning from wearing liquid foundation and concealer to as little base as possible. Some look incredibly shiny :/ but if you find one that works well with your skin and has a finish you like it's so easy to apply a very sheer layer and feels like nothing. :)

+Esther Herzog I have never worn high coverage foundation anyway. I do have a mineral foundation I like but I don't have too much use for it as I never do a full face of makeup.

Hi Justine! Your eyebrows are naturally very beautiful but with this technique you enhace them even more. Love it! And I also use the brow pencil from Benefit, it is one of my personal favorite makeup tricks. I find it specially helpful to counteract gravity's effect as time goes by (you know, everything tends to "drop"...). Thanks for another great video! 👌😉☺️

Good Morning Justine, I love the make tutorial that you did. the natural look and letting your beauty show, less is best. I did learn something this morning the under brow highlighting pencil I love the way it just open the eye. And in five minute your done. I think as an aging woman a mature woman of my age tent to go a little heavy handed with their make up. I love the nature look something that make the glow of a youthful skin. Thank you so much, I'm a person that rarely wears make up but if I do I like it to look natural but polished and in this vid that's what you did, plus you made it so simple that truth to be told yes I can spare 5 mins to implement this routine to my everyday :) Thank you for educating us and share your wisdom with us.
