When I helped a cosplay group making Wakandan spears I just removed all the significant parts and made them slide onto a standard PVC pipe. That way I could just print "spear kits" and they could cut the pipe to the right length to match each member's height. You could probably do something similar with this, but they would need to buy, cut, glue, and paint the staff once they got the rest of the parts. I also think that running a cable down the staff and using a cylindrical battery pack in the pommel would help balance the overall weight and make it easier to remove to charge it. Maybe even just have a spare that you can swap while you charge the other one.

Hi, I have a bit of experience building some staffs, I’d just use PVC pipes really, find a thickness that looks the closest. I’m am afraid to FDM print sticks like you mentioned the strength issue. The wires can comfortably sit inside the pvc pipe and it’s just that much stronger

Where the rod threads end at the shoulder of the joint, giving it an unthreaded radius will increase the strength of the joint hugely.

I knew you were going to use the K1 max to print. That seems to be your "go to" printer. Also glad to see you found a reason to use the Giga. All-in-all, it came out really great. On a side note I printed the Inverted Spear of Heaven, thanks to you. It came out awesome. Kaiju No. 8 is a good anime to get ideas on stuff to make to 3D print

Love the beginning xD. Thanks for these videos you've been pivotal in my FDM printing journey. I was always scared and assumed everything to be overly complicated but you and your videos have helped me ignore those thought and just run with it. Keep doing what you're doing and know that we appreciate you.

A good way I’ve made props com saw are by using fiberglass driveway markers (those orange sticks with reflective markers). They’re wobbly but super tough since they’re made out of fiberglass, you’d only need to make the socket a bit bigger, and it won’t trip a metal detector.

I'd suggest making the threads slightly wider, and having a void running the length of the staff. You can buy thin carbon fibre rods, and put two through the holes running through all rod parts, it'll be preposterously stable, and the threaded joints will feel so much tighter (especially with a rounded shoulder).

When using a usb cable, the + and - are only part of it. If only using those you are limited to 500mA. Short the two data wires to tap into up to 3A.
@FranklyBuilt
@FranklyBuilt 3 ай бұрын
Many don’t have data wires if they’re just for charging.
@raegun
@raegun 3 ай бұрын
@@FranklyBuilt I wouldn't go with "many". There are certainly some, specifically the ones included with some doohickey for the purposes of charging. If you cut it and only see two wires, the ends probably already short the data pins at the connector, tho, to pull the 3A(unless _very_ old or the doohickey maxes out at 500mAH). But if you see 4 wires, sworth shorting out the pins. But I find even cheap dollar store cables are usually "charge and sync". I just bring this up because any strip longer than a foot or two is gonna be putting pressure on that amperage cap. I won't even try going into USB-C PD because....errr....no, just no ^_^; But yeah, lots of my props I just grab a $2 USB cable, short the data and can power up to several feet of LED strip easily. I've even powered motored stuff.

I have no idea how to fix it, and i have checked the internet for answers, but i can give you the issues.
