If you're able, please support this great organization that is fighting against human trafficking in Eastern Africa. One of my Patrons brought it to my attention and your donation would greatly help those in need, especially during this pandemic. Check it out, my guys! haartkenya.org/ And as always, make sure to check out Matt's behind the scenes video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKmvqXurmal4rK8

2:02 If youre watching a movie that deals with a certain issue ( i.e. the abuse of people of color) & You're looking to have a conversation about said movie Then shying away from having a discussion about said issue is a problem and it honestly bothers me Not only does it keep the analysis of the movie at surface level, but I feel it does the movie makers and their social commentaries a disservice This kind of thing is part of what's holding me back from subscribing Youve all done some amazing work and I appreciate the entertainment But I and many others don't always need a distraction I value a persons moral code first And for someone to have my respect and support their moral code has to apply for them 100% of the time Not just when its convenient I want to hear your actual opinion Not what gains you clicks That being said I hope Im not disappointed by this video (edit: I didnt dislike the video. Everybody could educate themselves on the differences between Racism & Systemic Racism.)

Killmonger’s death hits me hard every time. That last line is amazing. My great great grandfather (whom i never met) was lynched in his military uniform upon returning from fighting for this country in WWII. While i never met him, that moment will forever bring up thoughts of his legacy and stories my great great grandmother (passed at 105) would tell me as a child. No superhero movie will ever resonate with me the way this one did. Thank you so much for your reaction and the reaction series as a whole. EDIT: Returning after the devastating loss of Chadwick Boseman. RIP to an Icon. Thank you for giving the next generation something to aspire towards.

Great great grandfather? I think you've added too many great's here. My grandfather on my father's side of the family was old enough for WW2, but a great great grandfather would have been too old to have been able to serve in WW2. A great grandfather would have served in WW1, and a great great grandfather would have served in the Spanish American War.

R H - you’re trying to correct someone’s own family lineage based on your own? 1. There’s no point, unless you’re trying to imply that the story is fake. 2. Not everyone has kids at the same age as your family. Examples: This family always has kids when they’re 20. The Great Great Grandfather, born in 1920, is 100 years old in 2020. The Great Grandfather is 80. The Grandfather is 60. The Father is 40. The man is 20. 3. Men and women can have children at even younger ages than 20, I just used that as a simple number for your simple brain to comprehend.

Also I much prefer the physical helmet over the bleeding CG one. The suit carries less weight without the manual placing of the crown so to speak. Now the act of removing the helmet has no purpose other than seeing the actor's face. I know why they did this because the suit was too rigid and uncomfortable for stunts but it's still a shame.

That's what stan lee CLAIMED but it's more of a marketing tagline than actual fact. If you read up on Malcolm X he is nothing like magneto. In the earliest X-Men issues magneto is literally just the head of the brotherhood of evil mutants and he intends to use his powers to conquer earth. Malcolm X never wanted to do anything like that. And considering all the times magneto has tried to commit genocide against humanity im the marvel universe it's very disrespectful to compare him to Malcolm x in any capacity. Malcolm x did not want to commit genocide against white people. I bought into Stan Lee's claim for a long time until started reading about the civil rights movement and realized it was total crap.

This movie, for me, is very personal. I went to see it with my family (we're Black and Ashkenazi Jewish) on my 21st birthday. To put it in perspective, my family NEVER watches superhero films with me. Ever! They all came out of the theater really impressed and happy. We were all in agreement that a movie with a mainly Black/African cast that didn't focus on Black pain and suffering that didn't have us as slaves, servants, gangsters, etc was really refreshing and so wonderful to watch. For the first time, we saw characters that looked like us be in a state of genuine power and in charge of their own destiny without any oppressive influence and it was GLORIOUS. That being said, I do work in the industry, so the vfx took me out of the experience a few times. BUT, my rating is still an 8/10 Great video, Holden. I always look forward to your discussions with Matt, Jenna, Pastor, and company. Can't wait to see how the rest of the Infinity Saga reactions go. See you next week for Infinity War!

TheZapan99 Now I can agree that “historically” I’ve never heard of a black Viking but Thor is also set in a fantastical alien world where there are many creeds and colors unknown truly to society, it is also based off of the comics that featured these characters...so maybe I could give you Heimdal but Hogun (of the Warriors Three) has been Asian as of the comics...also need to look at the setting, Wakanda is a earth based isolationist African country that has never been conquered, meaning white people have never affected it (if you follow World History of colonization), so an alien planet with two “non-white” people/aliens makes more sense than an African nation that has never been colonized and who have remained in isolation having a bunch of white people around

I enjoyed this edition of “my friend watches” and I appreciate the efforts all of you put into it to make the connections this film has with our current political/social struggles while not taking a divisive position. The emphasis on humility, compassion and finding common ground and unity is much needed in our day. It is far too easy for us to talk over each other and to confuse loud voices with strong ideas. Well done everyone. Keep making great content.
@sertaki

Sometimes, strong ideas need loud voices to be heard. Sometimes, divisiveness is necessary - You can't just embrace your oppressors and hope for them to see the errors of their ways. Let's not pretend that Gandhi or Martin Luther King Jr. were scared of a divisive position. They knew that only in spelling out the problems you can really find a solution and move people to truly come together to change the world for the better.

I don't know if this will help or come off as cringe buy you matter. As someone who has not dealt with personal depression but has friends and family that have suffered from it I can say that it does get better. I have lived my life with someone who was depressed and I have seen them fluctuate a bit but generally get better. Just remember that. Right now is weird but things will get better. And also remember that you, as a human being matter. I don't know you, but I care deeply about your well being. Good luck and hang in there.

I feel Eric also didn’t interact with any of the other past kings while in his ancestral plane bc of this and the fact that he didn’t grow up there and shared no true/tangible connection to that land and it’s Panther god

Really enjoying taking this whole journey with you guys. The MCU is by far my favourite on-screen universe; I'd call it the defining cinematic achievement of a generation. I grew up on Star Wars, Aliens, Terminator and the like - they all have a special place in my heart but this just blows all of that out of the water due to the level of the craft, the scale of the character and world building, the casting, the threading of so many arcs and narratives and the emotional heart of it all. Seeing Holden sign this one off by saying "See you in Infinity War" gave me excited tingles for what's to come for Matt and Jenna! PS: I know Jeremy wasn't part of this one but his sadness at not being featured in the comments recently made me think - I feel like his observations are so on-point that I subconsciously feel like he and I must have already discussed these films at length even though we've never met! Just wanted to give him a shout-out as his contributions are solid.

When I first looked at your channel and was introduced to Matt I was very critical of him and his view. But over time, I have come to understand him alot better and began to understand his point of view and those things that are important to him. He has grown considerably and although I don't agree with some points and got to understand his frame of mind and he began to grow on me. 1st impressions can be misleading at times and sometimes it takes a couple times to get a good read on a person. So with that being said, as they say, " I don't care what people say about you, you're alright with me ". Lol .Also you've done a good job handling current issues in a sensitive way !!!

What's interesting about Black Panther is that they made the most advanced country in the world ultra-Nationalist and it's most intelligent resident the most openly xenophobic hero in the MCU.

The movie is definitely anti-Imperialist, but then it takes a weird turn at the end to become pro-Globalist despite the bulk of the film seemingly validating Wakanda's Nationalism. Even Okoye proudly admits that if she is forced to choose between her nation and her husband, she'd kill her husband without question.

I feel like I gotta seperate my opinions on this movie, since it was such a phenomenon back when it came out. All in all, I loved it. I'd give it an 8.0, and it's only that low because of the technical problems like poor CGI. Solid story, great villain, phenomenal soundtrack. As for the cultural impact, as a black man it was great to see a film with a mostly black cast in such a high profile franchise. I'm not saying I can't relate to white heroes (peter parker is still my fav. superhero), but there's something special about seeing an entire cast that looks like you. Additionally, a major character, M'Baku, was played by a Tobagonian, and I am from Trinidad and Tobago, and our country was quite proud to see how popular he became after the film. Also, Shuri's actress was Guyanese, and the cast also incuded several other West Indians. So there was an additional layer of "representation" in this film was appreciated by myself and most others in my region.

I loved this film and did a research paper for my class on this film and the subtleties in all the frames are incredibly intricate. Like the warm tones and colors for characters represent freedom while the blue you see on characters represent colonization. The difference in locations for the Astral Plane between Erik and T'challa shows how far away they are from their original Home/Ancestors. Rest in Peace Chadwick Boseman
