That quote “he may have been your father boy but he wasn’t your daddy” made me feel for my wife when we saw it at the cinema, because her father left when she was 2, but her stepdad whom she calls daddy is a little rough around the edges and has battled alcoholism, but he was there for her. And we both balled our eyes out at the end with Yondu dying and all the fireworks going off was beautiful. The first guardians got a 7.5 this one got a 8.5.

@susanmaggiora48004 жыл бұрын
DJ Mattador I love both movies. I’ve always thought second one felt a little forced in the 1st act, but definitely makes up for it later in the film. If I had to rate them, I’d probably give the slightest edge to the first one, simply because of how different it was from any previous MCU movies at the time. The studio really took a risk with the 1st GotG movie, which is something they seem to do less & less these days, so I give them some credit for that.
@swanpride4 жыл бұрын
It's pretty much impossible to rank them...the first one has a more fluid story, the second one is more clunky, but has some really strong scenes to make up for it. This ending...
@susanmaggiora48004 жыл бұрын
gerizzyYMcrew What has Marvel done recently that is risky? All the movies are all very formulaic. I mean, I like them, but it’s not like they’re going out on a limb. GotG got away from that. If they DO take any risks now, it’s probably because the success of GotG showed them that audiences were willing to accept a broader group than they may have expected.
@susanmaggiora48004 жыл бұрын
gerizzyYMcrew How were any of those risky? They were formulaic movies of heroes that were well known in the Marvel universe. Also, they ALL came out several years after Guardians, which further makes my point if you think those were risks. Maybe they never take those risks until they see how people loved Guardians..

I haven’t spoken to my father since I was 15, and he wasn’t a good father before then either. My stepdad has been the one who helped me through my darkest times and who was there for me every time I needed him, even though he had no real obligation to do so. When he asked my mom to marry him, he also said he wanted to be a good father to me as much as he wanted to be a good husband to her, and I’ll never forget that. Now I’m planning to ask him to give me away at my wedding, and I already know we’re both gonna bawl our eyes out. This movie has a special place in my heart. Few years back I lost a lot of friends and family over the course of a year. For most of the year I just felt numb and really didn't react to their deaths, but when I watch this I lost it. The funeral scene was always emotional for me, but that time I watched it I had probably one of the most cathartic crying sessions in my life. It made me not only remember and appreciate the ones I lost, but also all of my friends and family still left alive. It's even more special now because I became a father this year and truly grasp what it means to be a father. Gosh I'm tearing up writing this. Matt, Jenna, Holden, and friends thank you for letting us be part of your journey through this.

GotG2 is one of my absolute favorites in the MCU. I’ve watched it dozens of times. I love the music, the color pallet, the continued character development. The themes of abuse, abandonment, family, and reconciliation are so poignant. The death of Yondu and his funeral get me every time. But the scene that I absolutely LOVE is between Drax and Mantis when he is remembering his daughter. The unexpected way they use her powers to reveal how emotional it is for Drax is perfection. He reminisces stoically but as she touches him she immediately starts weeping. Such an emotional gut punch.

How is it that you guys say the beginning dragged a little, when it was necessary expedition to lay the ground work for what you're about to see? Otherwise you are watching a movie with no context or something to relate and connect to. Is it possible that people's attention span has shortened in the age of technology, tiktok, and instant everything? This movie is very relatable in terms of the emotions and raw vulnerability. All of them struggled with it, but in the end they did what had to be done. If anything, I think it helped them grow and become more connected. Baby groot is cuter than Baby Yoda. Yeah, I said it. I loved him in this movie so much. He was like watching dog and puppy videos. ...Just warm and fuzzy and smiling from ear to ear over them....and baby groot. The graphics on this movie were amazing. The way they de- aged Kurt Russell was amazing, yet freaky because he literally looked like his younger self. Btw...He is Disney royalty. He is the oldest and first big Disney star with his hit movie "The computer wore Tennis shoes." I thought it was fitting that they made him a part of the history making MCU saga. It hurt my heart to realize just how much Peter had to see and go through. He watched his own mother die. He had to kill his biological father he dreamt of his whole life. And then he had his adopted father die to save him, and he had to watch that too.

Although I don't get why Ego didn't just obliterated her.. I mean, putting the tumor and then wait X amount of time for her to die seems a little unCelestial and counterproductive... not to mention unpractical.

@@ohc1492 I think he couldn't just kill her because he loved her too nevertheless but he chose his objective over her so he wanted her to die slowly or less painfully I guess. Also he might did this so Peter could be raised by his mother before going to space .

You nailed it, and that's why I think Matt likes these more. Even though it's huge scale sci-fi and REALLY out there, that's just the wrapper. At its core, it's a bunch of people handling regular problems, in space.

@@bejaouimalek2208 I would argue Far From Home is worse. Peter listens to AC/DC while he builds a suit with holographic technology, which seems like he's more like Iron Man Jr.

I know!! I love what they did with Spiderman in the series. I know ppl don’t like him as Iron Man Jr. But he does get the iron spider suit from him like the comics. He’s just a teenager & ppl should know even at that age they need a role model. Tony was basically MCU Uncle Ben even though Peter keeps Ben’s suitcase.
@cardboard0924 жыл бұрын
@@marcusward6235 i prefer FFH because it's the start of Peter growing up and being his own person. In HC he lives under Tony and doesn't really get the opportunity to be his own person as Tony is the one that did almost everything for him including making his suit

Man, even in reactions, seeing Yondu's funeral gets me a little choked up. I was crying a river the first time I watched this movie, so I can't even tease Matt about crying four times. This movie hits the emotions hard. lol I can't wait to see what Matt and Jenna think of Spider-Man Homecoming. And see what Holden has to say about it, as well.

I know the music was a big part of the first GotG but in Volume 2 it really got elevated to a new level for me. There are just so many scenes where the song combines with the visuals in a surprising and affecting way. The arrow vs. the ravagers scene and the funeral scene stand out in particular.

Kinda the opposite, I liked it more than the first Guardians when I first watched and I still really like it, but the pacing drags a bit. And the story with his father is not that interesting, it's everything else that's great.
