Love the different patterns they used for the walk way and drive way. I would have added a potted miniature connifer for the previous entrance, minimal maintenance and additional beauty to the front. Obviously that the client was so happy at the end is the WIN 🥇

I suspect it's going to be overstuffed. I would have preferred a bit of lawn for contrast, but maybe the owner didn't want to have to mow. Instead he's going to have to do a ton of weeding.

Question on the Birch - Were there considerations about soil shrinkage and the implications the tree could have on foundations once the rootball expands and three matures? Birch a low water demand tree, but still have a zone of influence of around 7m from the base of the tree?

When looking for a new house I specifically look for houses that do not have a bunch of trees in the front yard. 1. They block the light. 2. They block the sight line. 3. I love trees and could not in good conscience cut them down. Many new homes have small tree saplings directly in the front yard. These fortunately can be moved off to the side.

The finished landscape is stunning! I love the curved walk and half circle driveway. But I have to question if they considered the adage "the right plant for the right place". They spent the whole video talking about how shaded the yard is, and still will be, then planted several sun plants because they fit with the historical gardens... Those Peonies and Roses are going to by COVERED in powdery mildew within a year. Also, River Birch require a LOT of water. The location looks shady and moist, but they never said how much water the yard gets. You should not choose any plant just because it's pretty, it needs to be a good selection for the location you're planting as well. This is so important, especially when you're planting a tree. And for the love of all things growing STOP PICKING UP TREES BY THEIR TRUNKS!

@brynnkohler40844 жыл бұрын
They planted the lilacs in an awfully shady location. Without heavy flowering, lilacs are worthless green-blobs in a garden. Kinda like yews and Siberian pea shrubs. Nothing like planting a paperbirch too close to a building, too.

My first time watching this channel. Beautiful result, but I am concerned how practical it is. From experience, pedestrians tend to take the shortest route, I doubt the mailman will ever walk the circular walkway. I would add a couple of plants in containers where the old entrance was, so it is abundantly clear it is not an entrance. Gravel is hard to maintain and paper birch while really adds beauty to this yard is a rather 'dirty' tree (peeling bark and wind-broken small branches everywhere! A list of the plants used, approximate location or the agricultural zone would be nice to have. Looks like way over the desired $50-60 budget! :)))

Gravel is an absolute pain to maintain pebbles getting stuck in car tyres and require constant yearly top up, which in turn questions sustainability in long run, so a pretty bad choice.

I would never allowed the river birch. It is one of the messiest trees around. Our neighbor planted one and the whole neighborhood hates it. It drops branches in our yard, if wind is blowing it blows into neighbors yard across the street. The limbs hang over the street and drags on trucks and tall vehicles.

Can I send in pictures for some DIY suggestions for my yard? I could never afford a professional landscaper. I am a staging student so the inside reflects my talents. I really need help with the yard. Impressive results. I just want a pretty garden with pampas , perennials, stone driveway, etc. I also need the tress that's used for privacy fencing. I don't want much? Peace health and blessings from Atlanta.

I dont understand. Doesn't this place have snow and ice? You can't shovel pea gravel! Or why would you purposefully pick a coping stone which will collect water and ice? This is my first viewing of this show. I am completely unimpressed with these design choices.
