I think consistent luck = proof it aint luck ;) Those things do look sexy!

Haha that’s a good point, I’d have to agree. I just like these because for one, they catch some nice black rockfish but two, there are so many other species I’m gonna be using these for... “sexy” is on point haha

I think I need to get away from some of the shore fishing areas I’ve been in for that.. there are a few spots I really want to try blasting out something heavy. Give me some time lol it’s bound to happen. I loaded up with videos in late April so I’ve just been relaxing the last week and a half (FINALLY)

Honestly it's what you're confident with is the best lure. Literally anything that works for bass, will work for rockfish. I think the reason you're having such a great season is because you're in the right place at the right time. You've gotten into some good black schools in your last couple videos.

I caught my first 3 rock bass at newport south jetty.. your channel definitely helped me figure out the process. It is a lot like smallmouth fishing a river with lots of current and boulders.

@kingoftweaks3 жыл бұрын
Have you watched King Slew's video? He uses very basic cheap jigheads and soft lures, and he always limit out with huge black bass and lingcods. He's in boat though. I'm on jetty only, use cheap basic soft lures and sinkers, and I almost always catch more than 5 bass and 2 lingcods including big ones. So, you really do not need such fancy lures with realistic eyes.

I normally use a clip mainly so i can change to different colors quicker. weather it be for spoons or spinners. Although i do think that the Non Slip Loop Knot does extremely well for big flies and soft baits. It just seems to give things more movement in my opinion. Try it.. Another good video Pal..

I used to use the same PLine swivel/snap in size 10. The snap wire broke after couple weeks and lost couple expensive hard lures.

I use the storm bunker in the surf for stripers.
@AnglingAddictsPNW3 жыл бұрын
That’s one of the things I love about these baits in particular, you can use them for multi species. They look so life like, any predatory fish would snatch these things up... man I need to get just a bit further south. I’ve been wanting to catch stripers for years!!

2 years later and I came across this again. I meant to respond long ago. I actually did a mirror image on this video so the location wasn’t a dead giveaway. I do switch up time to time though depending on whether I’m having wrist or arm issues.

Nick, can you use your same rod/reel combo for surf fishing for perch or no? Ideally I’d like to invest in one combo for Jetty/rockfish and surf since I can’t justify spending the dough for two combos at this point.
@AnglingAddictsPNW3 жыл бұрын
Definitely! if i were to go surf fishing i'd be using this same rod and reel... possibly even swap out to a lighter reel since i have a few but there is no need to buy EXTRA gear

U like to fish the barview jetty and u are a hell of a fisherman I live in Rockaway Beach and would like to get some professional help sometime if you are ever around my nephews want me to take them but I have no idea what I’m doing any advice where the fish hang out and what to use and how to use it would be awesome thnx
@AnglingAddictsPNW2 жыл бұрын
Check out the video I did on 7 different jetty fishing setups. The ones I use the most would probably be the high/low rig with sand shrimp as well as casting jigs with soft plastics on them…. Though the Texas rig setup can be a killer! Check out the vid, it may help. Barview can be tough at times. It’s definitely not like it used to be, so hit or miss is the norm. I usually do best at peak high tide (during slack tide) then fish until the water is pulling out too hard, then I call it quits. You won’t have much luck when the water is ripping through there

So we fish off the jetty here in Washington but there not that big those black rock fish what time of the year do you catch them
@AnglingAddictsPNW Жыл бұрын
This was early Spring, and they are pretty rare to find down here as well. I fished for a few days and got into them pretty good, but I’ve never experienced fishing like this since, but I’m always trying lol. I was so stoked to find some monsters. I’m pretty sure there were a ton of smelt around at this time as well so it may have drawn in some bigger fish from out further. Keep fishing, you never know what’s gonna happen when you are jetty fishing!

Hey buddy, I noticed you took the swivel off at the end... didnt like it? Can you update us about that? I'm debating about starting to do that cause seems easier to switch baits
@AnglingAddictsPNW3 жыл бұрын
My line was a little frayed near the knot so I cut it off when I swapped baits but I would have to say after seeing both of the setups in the water, I think that dual lock helps keep it oriented correctly and gives a better action, whereas tying directly to the swimbait causes it to roll sideways more when you swim it fast or give it quick pops. I do prefer being able to swap out quickly.. I will probably be using the dual lock more often
