The way Pablo Barn cat was acting looked to me like a cat that was feeling bright and happy. I think the cool temperatures and a warm place to sleep may make him feel good. Elderly cats have their good days. Now about "Feeding America" perhaps supply a link. As we get near the end of the year, I and many others will be doing our "end of year" AKA "Christmas" donations. If it stops one person being hungry, continue to sing. If it doesn't please stop for the love of humanity.

Many years ago (I will make this story short, long version is available) I moved. The new neighbor's dog noticed my cat in the yard and came running at it. My cat went into the thick bushes near the house. The dog followed. All of a sudden there was a yelp and the dog stuffed it into reverse as fast as he could. He come out from the bushes with a line of 4 scratches from between his eyes to the tip of the nose. I had to go to my neighbors and suggest they clean the wound. For the rest of the time I lived there, that dog never messed with my cat.

I visited Scotland 4 years ago in the spring and we had a mix of clouds and sunny weather. The countryside is gorgeous and the highlight was Glencoe and ur hike to the hidden valley where we celebrated our 30th anniversary with a picnic listening to the melt gurgle under the wash. We loved it so much that we extended our stay in Scotland and only spent two days in London. I could live in Edinburg or even a ruined castle we loved it so much. Hopefully we will someday visit again, the Highlands own a bit of my heart.

An interesting thing with a map or globe: Take where you are and go directly west with your finger to NewFoundland. Chances are you will hit a place that is a nice place to grow rocks and snow and not much else. The wind blowing over the Atlantic's water is warmed in the winter but also gathers water vapor. The result is Scotland gets rain and clouds while directly west of you gets clear skies and too cold for man or beast.

I love how you respect the fact that your animals have their own thoughts, likes/dislikes, and personalities. Not forcing Abby to wear a costume she clearly doesn't enjoy says a lot about how much you respect your animals. I've seen too many pet owners who fall into the mindset of "my pet should do everything I want them to do, when I want it, just because I want it." This can range from people who force their animals to wear outfits they clearly hate just so they'll look (arguably) cuter, to people who simply fall into the habit of telling their indoor dog to "sit" or "go lay down" every single time it enters the room (even when there's really no reason to ask them to do so). As a service dog trainer/handler, I can attest that a person's relationship with their animals tends to be *much* richer and deeper once they realize and respect the fact that those animals have their own thoughts/wishes, and once the humans involved develop a habit of listening to the things their animals want to communicate. Human/pet communication really should go both ways. Not just one. Kudos to Morgan for doing this so well. One more reason to love this channel.

A short story from where I used to live: The area was at the boundary or suburbs and farm land. One day there were cows all over an intersection. I had nothing to do that day so I went to watch what happened. The farmer came down the road and stood in the intersection for a bit and then said "come on lets go" to the cows and slowly started walking back along the road. The cows followed him away.

I used to feed a small flock of ducks who lived in front of my garden apartment on a huge pond. It was so much fun feeding them and watching their antics all day long, and of course the ducklings, usually 8-12 of them, were so adorable. They had a regular lunch time, which was where I came in and that was followed by bug hunting lessons. They even took a nap around 1pm everyday in the same spot in the shade under a tree. Of course it was all leading up to the big day: learning to swim. Even dad showed up to help out as security, cause they were still pretty small. As they got bigger, Mom would teach them how to dabble,, to go head first under the water to eat plants and things. It was so wonderful having them there everyday- I loved it!

Have you considered putting up some kind of fencing along the rows that keep the cows away from the trees? In theory, you'd only have to move the parts of the fence that cross the row they're in & it would be less work for you each time you move them & depending on the type of fencing, protect your trees from the cows.

I now live in Scotland Morgan. The thing about Scottish weather is that it can move through REALLY fast. One minute you can have the lowering grey skies that you imagined, the next it will be bright warm sun, and then a bit later it will blow a minor hurricane with the fell voices calling out. Finally to finish off we can then have a cataclymic rainstorm which starts out of nowhere, and finishes just as fast, inbetween dropping about a millions gallons of water in five minutes. So the key here word is variable. When we first moved up here, someone told me that it is best to dress for the next fifteen minutes - and not for the whole day - because chances are whatever it was you put on fifteen or thirty minutes ago won't be quite right now... Oh and - yes it can get a wee bit chilly in the winter, but nothing you havent shown us in your videos, so on that side you have probably already seen worse.

Morgan, the frost line here in VT is only 45"-60" inches, so the deepest you'd have to put your water lines is 5 feet. That said I am a born and raised VT'r and I grew up learning that 4 feet was good enough for 1" id (inner diameter) and up if it's getting used throughout the winter. since you aren't using water up on the hill in winter just bury them 1 foot and come freeze disconnect them at the bottom of the hill and let the lines drain.

as to calling the cows - I used to help with calving out a small herd of beef cattle, and they were trained to come when called. Every time they were called, they were fed. Every time they were fed, they were called. We could call them in off a hundred acre pasture right into a corral to work them. You're doing great with that training. (we also had a second pasture across a steep, wide canyon from our farm and could call them across by opening gates on both sides. Saved miles of trucking them.)

PS~ Morgan about the oak tree… If you cut it off at the base probably next spring you’ll see shoots of growth…. Much like suckers that you would see along the trunk anyway but, it’s gonna take a lot longer for them to grow and if you talk to the nursery they’re probably going to suggest you just get a different oak tree. For one thing you’re not going to have a strong trunk you’re going to end up with a variety of shoots and nobody claiming to be the “strong trunk” as they say… it’s not that costly to pick up a oak seedling tree come spring or even in the fall when they have them on discount Nursery sales, ok! I myself love oak trees especially Pin Oak… I know you have so much to do on the farm but you are going to have to probably put up a little fencing around some of your trees to protect them from the cows until they get bigger and stronger. I hope you can win some of these battles for your trees because you have so many nice trees and such a nice variety. Good luck😊❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳

You don’t need to cut the damaged oak tree it needs to be braced. Unless they ate a circle around the entirety of the trunk or snapped it completely, you should be able to brace and support it to in time become a tree again. It can resprout if you cut it back, but then a lot of the sprouts will need trimming.
