I’m not going to offer words of advice or encouragement as you didn’t ask for that. What I will say is that we support you, Jon. We support your health, mental and physical. As an eye doctor this is a rough video to watch. We take our vision for granted and when we lose it it’s devastating. I can say that with previous patients dealing with similar situations that do a lot better with time. Even if your vision isn’t back to what it was the brain is amazing at adapting over time, albeit with different functional capabilities. Prayers to you and keep moving forward buddy!

Hi Jon. I hope these words reach you, and I hope they might help you a little bit, at least. I’m a 46 y/o dude, and I have lived through a lot of stuff. My sight was always not so good, but my audition was spotless. I'm a DevOps engineer, but in my heart, I'm a musician. A few years ago, my left ear failed with pain and a buzzing sound. Doctors told me that I had a stroke on my eardrum and that my hearing would never recover and the buzzing sound would never leave. I was destroyed, but even in pain and the buzzing, I kept playing my music as I could, that and some antidepressants helped me move forward, but I never left playing. Funny thing, I fully recovered my left ear works perfectly again, no buzzing, nothing. I hear perfect! Sorry for the long message. I just wanted to tell you to keep playing the guitar with your eyes closed, and I promise it will help you walk through this moment. I really hope these words reach you or someone close to you that helps you know this. I wish you the best, Jon; all my love and care goes to you! Rodrigo from Argentina

Wishing you all the best Jon, I'm an ophthalmic assistant to a retinal doctor, and we see issues like retinal detachments, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy on a daily basis. I can really empathize with people who lose their vision and I can reassure you that there is a life beyond your condition. I'm in the process of losing my vision, I understand you 100 percent. I've met so many blind and visually impaired people while going through my problem. Although part of my is glad I've been able to see for 40 years, other part see that people who were born blind doesn't go through as a big trauma, because you can't lose what you never had. I can't help but hear sadness in your voice, and that's a part when you lose your vision, your other senses go way up, and you are able to use those senses to "see" a new way. It's not easy going through vision problems, but it's not the end, there will be new people in your life as you are going through this new path on your life. You'll be on my prayers. I didn't used to believe in a higher power, but after losing my vision, I actually began to "see" stuff regular people don't see. Don't focus too much on your eye issue, understand everything happens for a reason, and know your going through this because it's meant to be. Believe, although you can't see or understand, do not lose your faith.

Professional blind person here! I can see a little bit, but not nearly enough to drive and read normal text for more than about a minute. That’s been my life for the almost 19 years I’ve been alive for. Meeting other people going through the same thing was really great and helped me really figure out that it’s not the end of the world! You will make it through! Wishing you the best! When in doubt-have your phone talk to you so you don’t look at it.

If you’re in Los Angeles The Braille Institute and the Dayle McIntosh Center have been really great resources for her to learn more about her condition. The Dayle McIntosh center actually gave her a referral for an eye evaluation and suggested technology to deal with her condition. I had shingles when I was 21 (the youngest the doctors who treated me had ever scene) and that was 17ish years ago and I doctors had to keep a close watch on my eye because they were afraid the sore on my eye, if it hit a nerve, could blind that eye. Luckily it didn’t. This is why I’m also so adamant about needing trials of the shingles vax because (at 38), I still don’t qualify for it and I do fear, especially during stressful times, that’ll it’ll reappear again in an aggressive fashion. I hate that this is happening to you, and adding my support for you to the pool.
@Raymond_Petit Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't tolerate that nonsense! You have a history of shingles so it can come back. I think what you meant to write is that you need the vaccine not that you need to be a part of vaccine trials. I've had the vaccine 2 years ago. I had the same issue some years ago when I was refused a colonoscopy because I was under the "recommended" age. I fired that doctor and the next until I got one the agreed to give me the necessary referral. They found six polyps which they say were non-cancerous. Advocate for yourself!

Hey Jon, I’ve been watching your videos since your veeeeerrryyy early iPhone/iPod/iMac/ videos (definitely over 10 years). Your videos have definitely been one of the many factors that have grown my love for tech and influenced me into where I am today. Thanks for that and I’m wishing you the best!
