Thank you Dominique for your frankness. At 55, I have just realized too my dad does not express emotion, never told me he was proud, good job, etc. and I’ve been searching for that my whole life. It has been a real eye opener and here you are talking about the exact same thing. I also starting working at 14, for spending money and the feel good that comes from working. My dad is still here at 85, and I love him to death!!! He lost both parents by age 17, so really never had anyone tell him what a good job he was doing....he really did the best he knew how to. Then, 2 weeks ago he’s in hospital and I am basically interpreting to him what the docs are saying, he looks at me and says: “ you’re really smart”. I bout fell down. I’ve never heard anyone talk about their dad being emotionally unavailable, so thank you so much!!

Dominique, thank you for being so honest, open and vulnerable. Your story has inspired me and I am sure so many others. Your journey in many ways paralels mine. I am a retired clinical psychologist and 82 years old. I am so glad that you told people that the way to undertand yourself was through a deep self exploration. It is the only way we can truly understand our own behaviors and that of others around us. Parental relationships play a large role in the choices we make throughout our lives. Our parents, just as we have done as parents ourselves, did the best they could with the roles they learned from their parents. And life events paint each portrait differently than the next. As I have progressed through another phase of life, I have found that each phase has me exploring my past behaviors and realtionships even more. The things we do not know about aging could fill several libraries. I continue to learn more about myself, my body and my relationships everyday. I have learned that there is never an end to learning and also that our bodies continue to change until the end. Thank you again and please continuegiving us this wonderful gift of yourself.

I am 60 years old and have no family outide my three children, two of them are young adults with multiple disabilities and I am also disabled. With the three of us being disabled and me virtually trying to do three different lives with no support has left me with much support and no role models. My family was extremely dysfunctional and my mom did not like me at all, which was hard to live with. The point of sharing this with you is that I agave found a role model and mentor in you and I wanted you to know how very much what you do and how you are means to many people, especially me and others who may be in similar or worse circumstances. Thank you!

Routines. Protein first, medium serving. Followed by 1 brownie bite or equiv., (pack a small protein and ice water in a tall yeti cup for next to the bed. (Not from Amazon. Too many Yeti knockoffs.$40) Turn all light to low. Then a hot soaking bath, low activity, in a large amount of epsom salted water. Cheaper in agricultural size bags from an upscale feed store. It is sourced from the same place as the drug store variety. Then into a cool bed in a cool, fully dark, quiet, safe room with no disturbances or light. No electronics. White noises are fine. As you lay mentally relax each zone. Spirituality helps if you're into it. No drugs, alcohol, caffine, or worry. 💖 Sleep builds immunity. Try to get off anything which introduces steroids. ie corticosteroids, inhalers. Melatonin and other supps or meds can produce nightmares which can produce sleep performance anxiety. As much as practical, down with the sun and up with the sun.

I also did not have a weight problem until middle school. The summer before my Senior year, I gained 30 pounds. I’ve yoyoed for years. Five years ago at the age of 56 I lost 75 lbs and was very happy. Of course, over the next five years, I’ve put it back on. I hope to take your weight loss success story and use it to help with mine. Thank you for being so honest and open. It’s so nice to hear someone as beautiful as you say they had a weight problem. You understand the reality of it. Thank you for allowing us into that area, so personal to you, and yet so relatable to the majority. I must say, I’ve never listened to or watched a video so profound in many ways to my own life and experiences. At 51, I’ve dealt with my own experiences by opening the “windows” to catch my breath. What you have helped me do is to bypass the windows by realizing I have a front door...opening up that front door and actually stepping outside...not to catch my breath, but rather, just breathe. Thank you, Dominque.❤️

Tina! 😍 I am 47 and was born on the 28th of January too!! I had to take a double take when I read your comment...!! Oh, sweet sis, you've been through a lot, but I can feel you are a true warrior and I wanna share a little bit of my story with you as well... but not here.. I made a video and we can talk, if you want, if you have any questions after watching the video. Hope you find it helpful on your journey or feel inspired by it... I just love my fellow aquarians and wanna share the gifts I've discovered in my own journey, which have helped me SO MUCH!!! 💝 I'll leave you the link to my video in my next comment... but in case it doesn't show, you can simply go to my channel and look for the second video I posted... which is called "MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE URINE THERAPY 🌈 17 YEARS practice" 😊💞

Dominique is our local treasure! I get to watch her every week night and check out her hair, makeup, and fashion picks for the day. She loves the Houston area, it shows by her involvement in the community. I've never met her - can't imagine I ever will, but by the steller reputation she has built by just being caring, candid, real, and transparent- she seems very down to earth and I love her to pieces.

Dominique - thank you for sharing your story. I'm 6 months into my fitness journey and the transformation has been incredible! My journey has been very, very similar to yours - your college story is almost identical to mine! Carbs were my crutch to get me thru study time, relationships, general college stress and the habits continued into early adult life. I am also in my early 50's and also getting into the best shape of my life. Not only physically, but also mentally and spiritually. I hope that your platform inspires others! Blessings

Absolutely lovely, honest, informative and gracious in what you have shared!! As a gal of almost 55...I have spent my life caring for others...and you are/have been encouraging me to now take the bull by the horns..:), and start working on my own journey. As a Texan in Central TX, I love that you always share lovely things about our home state. And I so appreciated when you and your Sweet Husband gave a car away to a Harvey flood victim!! That is spot on Sweet Friend!!! And I am so thankful your husband is doing so well!! That is a scary accident for sure. It was great how you took the time to reflect, be thankful and move forward with great thought. I literally lost my Daddy a week after Harvey and less than five months later lost my Mom. Such a difficult journey. We cared for them before and took care of all after. They had both been sick for a while and there were lots of misses in their estate. But they tried...and I am so happy to have been there to see their journey and to have loved them. There is joy in the journey!! :) We just have to keep looking up!! Thanks for your shares & your encouragement for us experienced ladies. And for your constant encouragement to keep on!! And one of my favorite parts of your channel is you sharing your faith!! :) Such a joy to see an accompished public figure speak of things above!! Keep serving Him well and taking good care of yourself, your family and all you do!!! Hugs and prayers...k :)

Whew! She is a much needed light, in an increasingly dark world. 🕯️😇👭👭👭❣️

I LOVE what you said about your father. My father was very kind and loving when I was a child but distant in my teens. I would even go so far as to say I was scared of him. My mother suffered cancer throughout her 50s and he retired at 55 to take care of her. After she passed, it was tough for him. He phoned us all every Sunday. This was kind of a first. He remarried quickly because he was so lonely and she wasn't the nicest person. Things were a bit Rocky again over the years but I have learned that in the bad there was a lot of good. He passed away from Alzheimer's a couple of months ago. None of us are perfect. I know I'm not. My weight has been a battle since my thirties. Last year I said enough is enough and i lost 65 lbs. I keep an eye on my food intake and food choices plus exercise has been so helpful. I feel great. I'm enjoying my sixties. Life is good and will be even better one things aren't so crazy.

Your heart is loving and kind. We all need to be aware of how real "kindness" goes a long way. Even if in the smallest of ways. Like to the person that rings up our groceries. We need to remember that they are probably only making minimum wage, and they may have to have another job as well. Or, they may have had unloving parent's. I know it's hard to imagine but it's a reality.

At 60 I’m happier w/myself physically & emotionally then in anytime in my life. I was a survivor of child sexual abuse who used eating throughout my life as my crutch. At 55 I was meditating & realized my perpetrator still had a hold on me 50 years later. I lost 120 lbs, became a Sexual Assault Counselor than met my husband of 2 years after being a single Mom for 30 years. My Mr & I follow a Ketogenic lifestyle to keep not only our body healthy but our brains on point.

Wow! I guess it's not too late for me to find love once again. My husband of 20 years, up & left me 10 yrs ago, & it shattered our family so badly, that both of my daughters haven't spoken to me in 7 years. Apart from my sister, her big family, & my 80 Yr old mom & dad, I have in effect lost the family I poured my life into for 20 plus yrs. I've been trying to rebuild my life, but I have no heart for it. At 53, I have many years ahead, & I must strive to find my heart again, because I cannot continue living an empty life. I must do this for myself! That includes the extra weight menapause has surprised me with! I seem to have gained 30 pounds in just 4 years, & my eating habits (following the zone diet) haven't changed. Although , my sleep patterns are all messed up, which I know isn't helping, either. 😱🙄

Cheryl Fox I spent 30yrs saying “Never again” which was a mistake. What I realized was I had to heal and be content with myself before I was ready to find someone. The nice thing is I didn’t NEED a man as I accomplished everything on my own but my Husband (still feels weird saying it) fills me emotionally in ways I didn’t know existed. You can get to a healthy place Cheryl but it takes hard work, emotionally and physically. Keep in mind changes in yourself are for YOU & if you find Love again it’s a bonus.

I just now saw this video, so awesome! I went through my younger years dealingwith childhood issues, relating with my adopted mother dying when I was 14, meeting my bio-mom, and having serious anger issues towards her. I went through therapy, did what I now call "a brain dump", wrote letters, yes, almost a book of emotions, but that started my healing and learning forgiveness! I found a church that was a big help with my walk through all this, also. After that, I felt like I had lost tons of weight, l felt like I was walking on air! Thank you for sharing!

What an amazing "Life Story," It explains why you have such inner beauty, that is so transparent. Thank you for the time you take to help and give others the wisdom you have obtained over the years. I like yourself was working at age 13. My families financial instability put me in the work force at a young age. But because of this, I have instilled in my two daughters the importance of education and to never stop trying to better one's self. This video has encouraged me to start taking better care of myself better. I am 66 years old and have not taken time out for me, in the past 10 year. I need a healthy balance in life. Some time to exercise and destress! Weight gain after menopause is harder to remove. But not impossible. So here I go, on a new journey. Thank you for all your advise! And yes, forgiveness is necessary in life, so you can move on and not become bitter.
