"King Explosion Murder", while hilarious, is actually a clever pun that got lost in translation. I have very limited knowledge of Japanese but from what I know, bakuhatsu, which shares the same kanji for Bakugou's name, means explosion. He replaced "hatsu" with the kanji for "satsu", meaning kill/murder. Then he added the kanji for sovereign/monarch at the end, read as "ō", the same sound in "Bakugō/ou". So you get Bakusatsuō, the name of a great hero LOL.

Hey Chris, A _Mental_ Hospital actually has far worse implications in this scenario than a physical one. If he had injured her badly enough to go to the hospital, the media would have heard about it, and his false image would be ruined; but if he places her in the mental one, *she can never leave of her own accord,* and can't tell anyone about her or her children's abuse. And that's fcked up.

The Anafront I think for some patients you can actually leave the mental institution when you want or they deem you save to leave, but in the case of Todoroki’s mother she has to be there because she literally poured boiling water on one of her very young children.

The Anafront um no offense or anything I agree that endeavor is a terrible person too, but putting her in that hospital was probably the only good thing he ever did for her. Considering she poured boiling water on her child because of her damaged mental state she definitely needed both the therapy this place can give her and to not be near her kids for a while while she recovered. This also has the bonus of her not being around endeavor as well so.

I love how the hero name for Kirishima drops a huge bit of info about him. The hero he most admires. Which we've seen is very important insight into a character's motivations (as seen so far with Deku and Todoroki) Marketa may lose some years of her life watching the next arc.

So if I remember correctly (and I could be wrong) but in the subbed version, they explain that one of the reasons all the hero's passed on Deku is because they don't really know what his quirk is or how it works. They just know that it is powerful and he can't control it. And you don't know the nature of a quirk, it would make it very difficult for even the best teachers to instruct someone in how to apply their quirk and develop into a hero.

Japanese language is made up of like 3 different sets of alphabets. Most writing in Japanese will incorporate 2 or 3 of those different alphabet at once. So for anyone who didn't study Japanese b4, I can get why it would look like it's written in different language.

actually its super common to have a mix of english and a native language. If you look at the titles of most anime, they have an english title with japanese version of it. In india Hinglish is a combination of hindi and english, they mix different languages in the same sentence cause its easier to express some concepts in different languages.

In English Uraraka's hero name is just a combination of her real name and gravity, but in Japanese it goes a bit deeper than that. Proper word play. If you were to spell out "gravity" using Japanese 'letters' you'd get something like "Gurabiti (グラビティ)". Removing the 'G' you're left with Ura, which is the start of Uraraka's family name. The "ビ (bi)" character can also be read as "ka", like the end of her family name. Then there's "Ti", which is pronounced like "Tea". Welp, her given name, Ochako, means Tea Child. So the parts of her name (Ura, Ka, Ocha) combine to become Uravity. (They haven't got a character for "Vi" so they use "Bi" instead)

It's not uncommon for words to be borrowed from english to express different concepts or for coolness factor around the world. But the names are pretty true to what they originally were in Japanese, Froppy and Pinky were quite literally pronounced in english in the sub, I was gonna say Jammingway too but in this they used JammingYay perhaps because Kaminari in his stuppid form says "yay" instead if "way" in the dub? idk... EDIT: Um, so I went back and watched the scene in the sub and they pretty much all said their hero name in english apart from Bakugo, Tokoyami, Todoroki, Deku, Tenya and Ururaka (but she did say Uravity, idk if you'd cassify that as english or japanese)

If you're wondering, YES, Horikoshi (the writer of MHA's manga) is a massive nerd; he has a love for Clint Eastwood films (hence Gran Torino) and Star Wars (hence all of the locations named after various Star Wars settings). Dagobah is the locale where Izuku trains with All Might and Kamino plays a major role in season 3, so keep an eye out for stuff like that. Also, new OP! Can't wait, it's one of my favs.

It's not really explained but the "impact grenade" attack bakugou used at todoroki was ment to absolutely crush him. The basic attack was to add a spin to the attack aswell as spread his nitroglycerin around the arena to create the explosion, but the suction from the "tornado" he created was supposed to suck in todoroki's fire and make bakugou's explosion even bigger. It just speaks to how tactially brilliant Bakugou is.

But todoroki did nothing, used neither of his powers and only passed out. Maybe it was targeted for his powers? I dunno the power scaling in mha is weird sometimes

@@t.a.n2685 The explosion was powerful even when Todoroki didn't use his fire but if he did, he would have powered bakugou's explosion to ridiculous heights. Im not saying bakugou is stronger than todoroki or vice versa but bakugou had a plan to counter his fire.
