just because you can see the future doesn't mean you can avoid it it got to a point where Nighteye saw that he couldn't escape Overhaul, and so he lost

I mean you're right, you still need the speed to avoid things but Nighteye was doing just fine. What happened is that he saw that in every future where he dodged the boys would end up dying, so he was trying every possible action to try and get a future in which they lived. He hoped that by getting impaled maybe the future would change, that's why he said "Please let me see it" as he got impaled. Like "Please, let this action work and change the future" but it didn't unfortunately.

I love deep villains, tragic villains, complex villains, ones who may have a point, that kind of thing. But that being said, there's always room for a villain that's just a straight-up MONSTER, and Overhaul fits that niche perfectly. He may not be particularly complex, but Overhaul is easily one of the most straight-up evil villains in the entire series, and I loved every second he was in the frame.

@@baylaust Completely agree. In my opinion, there are two factors that make a good villain: NUANCE and PRESENCE. There are plenty of examples of nuanced villains, who you understand where they're coming from, but there are also examples of great villains that don't need nuance. Two examples that come to mind are Fire Lord Ozai and Horde Prime. They were kinda just bad for the sake of it, but they were so COOL (whether in design, voice acting, power level) that they still made great villains. This is personal preference, BTW, so I understand not everyone will agree.

What I just noticed? Aizawa once said that Midoriya would be a liability in battle. Yet who is the first student he finds himself in a real battle with? Yup, Midoriya. Aizawa's respect for Izuku has grown incredibly over just a single year. I imagine he's probably better aware of his abilities than he is. such a great arc for this character, hard to believe the show wanted me to hate him at first.

Nighteye LET himself get impaled because every future in which he successfully dodged he saw the boys dying so he hoped that maybe if he took some hits that would change. He was desperately trying every possible action to get a future in which the boys would live. That's why he said "Please let me see it" after he got impaled. But even that didn't work.

Most people don't realize that if the future can't be changed it makes everything you do pointless. The only reasonable thing to do is believe you can change it. If you can't your opinion and knowing you can't all mean nothing. In the case of his quirk it becomes a question of whether the quirk itself restricts the possibilities or not. If it does you probably don't want to use it at all since your basically just rolling dice on what happens next with no real advantage being gained since it can't be changed. Of course we know it can be now so it has much more value.

Reactors either always miss or choose not to comment on how Overhaul uses the power of the guy he fused with on Eri at the end that forces her to tell the truth. Its very subtle but you see the same purple waves coming from the mouth in his hand and again when it shows Eri. Obviously he doesn't need to use it for us to know that she doesn't want anyone else to get hurt or die but I feel it just shows more of how he is brainwashing her forcing her to think about the question as the quirk invades your mind and makes you have to answer.

Just to note, the future he saw of Deku with all the blood was what you saw when Overhaul spiked him, before it shifted to Miro and Eri. Nighteye only saw the blood, so he didn't know what happened.

It’s better explained in the manga about how Nighteye gets hit. He knew that he would get hit, that’s what he saw. It was inevitable but he used one second glances to kind of buy time and dodge. He knew he couldn’t dodge forever but he went as long as he could.

iirc, that hand part with Eri was even worse in the manga because he used the voice of that henchman he absorbed and shouted that she was the reason why he had to die. anyways, i think the reason why Nighteye got hit despite the fact he could see the future was because he shifted his priority from seeing Chisaki's moves only a second before they happened to looking for a future where they won the fight. He was hoping he could see a future where Eri was saved but all he saw was them dying failing the mission.
