Great stories except the idiot who thinks that he/she has figured out HUMAN predators from watching his/her small dog hunt small animals. Even though I agree that human predators (who attack the weak and defenseless) are less than animals, go get more educated on what human predators do. It could save your life. I think you got extremely (and rarely) lucky.

As a female I have to say yes, it is always good to carry some type of weapon/protection. However you also need to make sure you know how to use them, especially knives or guns. First, do not ever even pull it out unless you're going to use it. Second, especially with knives, and guns as well, if you're not really good with them, you need to use it immediately (don't forget the safety for a gun)or not at all. It's very easy for someone to take your weapon from you and then what?? That's how you end up getting hurt or killed with your own weapon. Be safe ladies. Avoid shady areas. Try to have someone with you. If you feel in danger and all else fails, run like hell. Just please be careful and smart. I speak from experience. When I was younger I only carried a blade, thankfully I was very good with them. I collect and practice with them. If I hadn't been, I'd likely be dead. Now I carry legally, which I practice that as well. I know gun safety, and go to the range every weekend practicing with my 9mm, 40cal, AR, SHOTGUN, and a couple of others. Practice makes perfect and could definitely save your life one day

@@emperorpalpatine1228 I don't think so. Again just super aware of people and your surroundings. Hell when my niece was a baby/toddler I would lock us in my car to put her in the car seat. When I eat at restaurants I don't like my back to face an open area, meaning I like to sit where I have a wall/something at my back and everything at my frontal view. I prefer SUVs as they sit higher and easier to check underneath. I always check all doors and windows and garage door to make sure all are closed and locked. I could go on. But it isn't debilitating, my life is as "normal" as can be. LOL my husband laughs at me because I lock my Xterra doors when parked in our locked garage.

Emperor Palpatine I live out in the middle of nowhere, woods all around me, one night at 1245 I had just got off work, I got out of my truck, I got this creepy feeling, my hairs stood up on the back of my neck, I turned back around and reached in my truck and grabbed my 9mm that I keep in my door pocket and made a show of sliding the magazine in and cocking it. I head some bushes shuffle by the other vehicles in my driveway (it was a clear summer night no wind at all) and I got my keys out and opened and got in that door and locked it fast as possible. Now I park 5 feet from my porch, and make sure to cut my spot lights on my truck on and scan the trees and bushes before exiting my truck

Don't know if society is partially responsible for our conditioned thinking of people, normalcy and what's " appropriate" BUT DON'T let yourself stay silent.. your not overreacting, being to nervous, anxiety or whatever you want to call it... , Rude, probably no big deal, probably harmless. The gut feeling is usually pretty accurate. Be aware of people and aware of protecting yourself and know you have a lot of power that is just silently sleeping in the backseat of the soul. I totally relate to the 1940s dress girl and the creepy old guy. I have somewhat bad social anxiety and I tend to be too nice and understanding and let people get away with doing or saying certain things I’m uncomfortable with because I don’t want to be rude. It’s got me into a lot of awkward situations. I try to be more assertive but it’s always been my weak point. I’m a people pleaser. It’s Especially at work because I feel like I have to be extra nice and everything with customers. It always seems to be the old guys that get fixated on me... one wasn’t even my customer anymore and had moved away and one day he shows up to “just say hi” and that he was in the area and “thinking of me” so he decided to get me a huge bouquet of roses. That’s I guess harmless in itself but he wouldn’t leave and just kept leering until I told him I had work to do. That guy did that twice. I’ve also had old guys tell me they think I’m pretty and ask me if I’m still in high school (when I was 21 I could pass for 17) they would be visibly disappointed when I told them my real age and all of a sudden they didn’t want to talk anymore. Which, fine by me. But wow... clearly they wanted to talk/flirt with a girl that’s underage. Old guys make me the most apprehensive to interact with because so many of the majority of them have been super creepy.
