A compendium of five short but terrifying tales contained within a video. This video conjures scares from traditional bogeymen and portents of doom. In one story, a monster named John terrorizes a young boy with the nick name of Dickers. Another focuses on a crazy man who worked out at a gym late at night. Can you handle these stories of pure horror?

At the Wal-Mart I work at its not the customers who are the problem. They are usually surprisingly nice or at least normal. Its the employees and definetly the managers. Not just that but being a sales associate has been boring to the point that I constantly think of suicide while at work.

Secret shoppers are bulls**t. Retail is stressful enough without having to worry about some jabroni watching you and reporting you to management for not doing everything perfectly. One of my favorite things while working retail was catching people trying to cut in line. A lot of them storm off like little 5 year olds when you catch them and say, "I'm sorry, but the line starts right over here."
@scroth0303
@scroth0303 5 жыл бұрын
It's funny... Over time, I started to just get a kind of sixth-sense about secret shoppers. I could almost always pick them out. (There was usually something just *off* about the way they started talking about what they were looking for. They would always sound the way that upper management assumed customers sounded like, not how *actual* customers talked.) Once I learned how to pick them out, I always got some of the highest scores of whatever district I was in. That said, the secret shopper Rich describes is TERRIBLE at doing the job. The entire point of the process is supposed to be to find out how an employee behaves when a customer *isn't* making a scene. I can't imagine why that particular customer forced the issue in that way.

@scroth0303
@scroth0303 4 жыл бұрын
I doubt I can really put it into words; it really was a matter of the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end after talking to them for a few seconds. Have you ever heard about how terrible "a smile that doesn't make it all the way to the eyes" can be? It's that. The insincerity of the whole exchange just stuck out to me. I guess about the closest I could get to a specific example would be something like this: When an actual customer walks into a store looking for a thingamajig, they will typically walk up to the counter and ask something like "Do you have thingamajigs?" or "What thingamajigs do you have?" What an actual shopper would *never* do is hang around the part of the store vaguely in the vicinity of where the thingamajigs are, wait as long as it takes for an employee to approach, and then ask "What can you tell me about thingamajigs?" The questions just don't track with the kinds of things real customers usually want to know about.

@@scroth0303 Worked in retail for a couple of years and after a bit it becomes pretty obvious when they come in to secret shop you. One of the biggest giveaways was they would always act like they knew everything about the item they were looking for, but then you'd ask a couple questions and realize they were actually clueless and didn't act like a normal customer.

I agree. I’m a “sales associate” for a small chain of hardware stores. My managers are all really nice. I have a good mix of older, more experienced coworkers (50+), and a lot of younger guys around my age (I’m 20). I’m close with all of my coworkers and managers and I love DIY building, grilling, fishing, and I’m also a handyman for the properties that my grandmother owns. The store I work at fulfills all of those interests, so I genuinely like working there because I also get to lear a lot. All that being said … customers in the store are really some of the most terrible people with some of the most difficult attitudes to deal with. And many of them are regulars at the store. You would think if you have to interact with someone on a regular basis who is just trying to do their job, and their only job is to help you, you would try to treat them with a little bit of respect

Bad customers NEVER affect my day nor my attitude because the reality is that they are the ones with a problem, not me. My happiness does not depend on other's people behavior. I NEVER entertain my mind with my previous customer experiences. As soon as I finish with a customer, my mind goes right back to my loved ones, hobbies or entertainments (positive things and actions). It takes some times to get used to that but remember this and you will get used to it pretty soon.

That sounds great mate, but I'd wager you're an outlier and not the rule. Good on ya though, and yeah that positive thinking does help but you have to have the right kind of mind for that; as a very analytical sort of private person I can definitively say that what you're suggesting would work for about maybe 5 or 10 minutes for me and then it wouldn't. Don't wanna discourage anybody but that's my experience. And who knows, maybe I just don't have a high tolerance for bullshit.

I was a cashier at a specific gas station for a couple of years. I've worked at multiple gas stations but this one I worked at mainly. This guy came in as I was eating my lunch, since I was the only one there they allowed me to eat at the register. I can multitask, it's not hard. So this guy walks in and throws a crumpled up $20 on the counter and without even looking at me he demands gas at whatever pump he's at. There was no retrieval of fuel that day, so we were out of gas. I tell this guy that and he doesn't care. He thanks me and grabs the bill from the counter and leaves and I proceed to eat my lunch. He comes back in a few minutes later saying I stole the cash he put down because he didn't have it. I told him I didn't have it and he called me a liar and told me he would kill me that second if I didn't put a $20 bill in his hand. I got pissed and told him I didn't have his money and that I watched him put it in his pocket as he left. He continued to call me a liar, got my name from my nametag and called my manager over. He ranted and raved about how it was an act of aggression and that I had an attitude (wouldn't you if someone threatened your life?) My manager looked at the footage and it clearly showed me chowing down on my food and him shoving his money into his pocket. So my manager told him what happened. The man STILL proceeded to call HIM a liar and told both of us he was going to file a complaint with corporate and vowed to have both of our jobs. He came back in a few weeks later apologizing and saying he found the bill as soon as he got back to his car. No one gives a damn about retail employees. I guess we're all expendable assets. We're just faces for people to act their aggression upon.

So if one employee doesn't clean other people's fecal matter with their bare hands, you fire them. But if another employee does drugs at work every single day and chases another emplyoee around the store with a blunt instrument intent on physically assaulting them in a quasi sexual manner, every single day, and you get told about it, that is somehow NOT cause for termination. Really great priorities at this store.
