I don't know where I heard this phrase, but it may explain why some of your plants don't flower until a couple years after having them: "First year it sleeps, second year it creeps, third year it leaps!" The first year the plant is getting used to its new home. The second year it starts to grow more prolifically. The third year it feels like flowering. 😊

I have the same type of Aloe Vera and found that it didn't like direct sun and would react as if it was overwatered (turn grey/pale and go mushy). Might be worth shifting it. You'll know it worked because the green colouring will return, often darker.

Nice collection of different types of house plants. I'e found over the years I go through phases of liking a particular type of plant, then I get bored and won't have that type for a while. I used to have a large cacti and succulent collection in the 80s, and liked the maranta prayer plant and bromeliads, now I prefer vining/climbing more tropical plants, micans, pothos, scindapsus. I have a Devils Ivy, golden pothos that I got in 1980, its my longest lived houseplant!
@SheffieldMadePlants2 жыл бұрын
That's very good going to keep plants so long. Are they massive?
@louiseahmedtropicalplantgr50002 жыл бұрын
@@SheffieldMadePlants haha no the opposite the Devils ivy grew so big over the years I cut it back many times, recently it became very woody and suffered leaf drop on the lower part of the stem, so i cut it again right back to base level, and repotted into fresh compost, and divided the long stems into cuttings.

Aloe Vera can be a tricky plant. Mature ones love direct sun, but they have to be gradually adjusted. I have found that especially the smaller, younger ones have to be kept out of the sun. If you notice them turning orange/brown/grey it is probably sun damage! Moving them back from the window will usually fix that, and they bounce back quite quickly. As for water, wait until the soil is completely dry and then wait a bit more. Don’t water until the leaves feel soft and droopy, then give them a good soak! Good luck!

Your green orange spider plant looks super healthy! I got this plant over summer (I know it as a fire flash plant) and was super excited about it however I’m having similar problems to what you described. It’s leaves are curling up and the tips are going brown and new leaves are browning completely quite quickly. I’m going to try taking it away from the window and change to watering it with filtered water in hopes that it will recover, if you have any more tips for this plant or would even consider doing a full video on its care needs I’d really appreciate it!! 8:30 You need to give the alocasia more fertilizer and you can have more leaves. Lesson I learned with my alocasias. I fertilize them every time when I water them with half amount. I have for example an alocasia silver dragen with 8 leaves which I bought as baby plant 1 year ago. But I guess if I had 200 plants I would not have the nerves to figure out what every plant needs exactly :)

Good morning from Canada!! I am still playing catch up with your videos, have learned quite a bit while watching. Loved this tour your plants seem happy and healthy. Just a couple of questions, why don't you have any african violets? I bought a couple of things that you recommended, the soil meter ( which I should have bought ages ago ) and the API stress coat. Could you give me some info about how much of the API I should use when watering my plants? At the moment I fill plastic jugs and let the water sit for minimum of 24 hours. My spider plants still get some black on their tips and my boston ferns are kind of meh also when you use the plastic growing pots ( that you put in other pots ) do you use a wick? If not, do you wait and then drain pot? As you can tell I am a wee bit confused about this, lol. Thank you for all the great info you provide and it is ok to smile once in a while!!!!
@SheffieldMadePlants Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Not that keen on violets to be honest. Add just a drop per litre of water of the API. No wicks in my pots. I tend to bottom water so just add water to the cache pot and let the plant wick up the water through the holes in the plastic pot

😊🪴❤️.impressed with how clean your surfaces are 😂! Mine always seem to be covered in soil . Really nice tour. I love my aglonema’s too. I am giving up on calathea, ignore their siren call when I go plant shopping! Do you have any black velvet tips? Mine has just croaked, attempting to save it in perlite at the moment ( in a plastic tub) I don’t know what I did though to make it drop it’s leaves and wilted so fast.

Thanks! The camera hides a thousand sins believe me. Not got a BV tips video but maybe I should...
