Best Introduction Ever to a haunted house story: You start of slowly, teasing us about paranormal stuff and ghosts... giving a very subtle introduction... And then! We hear random noises in the middle of your introduction! "Sorry if you can hear stuff in the background, my dog is running around." Anticlimactic as hell... Also, yeah. More stories would be nice. It's hard to follow your channel, if your play things I keep on my shelf for "when I have the time AND can call my parents if I get scared" ;)

It might be interesting to address the ghost, if there is one, whenever the dog starts barking at nothing or you hear weird noises. Tell "him" the story of how you might know who he is, and see if anything changes. Leaving a cheap voice recorder down there might be interesting as well.

Katie, I use to work with a lady that thought a corner of our store was haunted by a little girl. She would tell me she hated having to go over there because you would always hear strange noises. Most of the noises actually come from the next store over (thin walls apparently) but I would agree that at times you can hear strange sounds. Now as I myself don't believe in ghosts the whole thing amused me. The next time I saw that lady I asked her how Laura was (I named her ghost girl Laura). She asked who and I told her the ghost, Laura. She looked at me liked I was bat crazy and was like "YOU NAMED HER?!" Apparently naming a ghost makes said ghost ten times creepier... who knew.

I enjoyed really your story Katie - definitely do more of all the cool (and spooky) things in your life. I could see why you would feel freaked with those weird occurrences and coincidences such as your mum working with the Grandson. I struggle to believe the supernatural as I think we should have much more definitive proof by now. There could be lots of explanations of all the shenanigans going on in your house - rats, squirrels, or other animal intruders, noises nearby that you attribute to the basement (sounds are notoriously hard to locate), the house making settling noises (you get lots of creaks and shifts from older houses), someone playing pranks, you mind playing tricks after you've started talking about it being haunted (and your love of the paranormal making you quite edgy), basements can be quite drafty from open windows or have pipes banging, animals tend to sneak into basements etc. But I can't rule out other worldly possibilities completely. But no one would hurt charming Katie - not even a ghost - so you can chill.
@torrentialrage7 жыл бұрын
I mean you have a predisposed interest for paranormal stuff, so it makes sense you would think your house is haunted because you hear tapping and a person died in his own home.
@livingabovethe12th7 жыл бұрын
kneitel023 exactly...very classical example of huge category of cognitive psychology...you believe/are interested in that deeply enough that that becomes the only acceptable solution to you though the evidence to support it is very flimsy and actually does not connect together at all but because that is contrary to your desired outcome and anything else is not an option. the way the evidence was stated was that no matter where you died that spot becomes haunted which we all know is completely untrue but because in this one application that explained everything that she wanted to be true it became law. I'm not saying it's not real to her, it is real to her but stepping back away from it looking at it logically it just doesn't make sense. I'm glad at least one other person here sees the sensibility of what you stated.
@user-ou2ty3ts6k7 жыл бұрын
+livingabovethe12th She never said JUST the basement is haunted because the guy passed away down there. After her Mom told her about the guy she worked with and what connection he had to the house it all made sense TO HER. The little old man probably really enjoyed tinkering around downstairs. I'm assuming like any old grandpa he did some sort of woodwork etc... The property was vacant for 20 years. That is a long time for energy to be mustered up. In any event, they have a new family member and I'm sure the little old man enjoys their family. Seems to me that her and her husband were "chosen" by this spirit to be there seeing it's ironic her Mom met the Grandson that grew up in the home. You don't have to believe her but she does and I believe it too.
@lizzieliz20107 жыл бұрын
kneitel023 it is quite natural to fear with all the gore and horror in games and movies but still someone's already gone through this somewhere else. instead of accepting the fear to live with and make it so much more than what it actually is (not a poltergeist) accept you need help from someone who knows what is happeneing and what can be done to aid the situation. fear calls more spirits, ones that arent friendly....

We recently moved into a new house and after a little bit we started to notice some weird stuff. My dog would bark randomly at the exact same spots in the hallways, every day. Curtains would open and shut. Doors would shut randomly. Cabinets would open. Lights would flicker on and off. We hear weird noises all the time. It's always been more focused in my room/my side of the house. After some researching, I discovered that the previous owners were two older people, a couple. The woman was very sick, under hospice care, and had seizures. Her husband just wanted her to die already. Eventually, she died in what is now my room. One morning, I woke up and saw a woman standing by my window. Thinking it was just my mom, I fell back asleep. Later on, after asking my mom, who swore up and down that it wasn't her, I figured out that it was probably just the woman who died in my room. She's peaceful, not angry or mean, but it can still be scary sometimes.

aww I work at a vet too and you're right about cats using meows to communicate with people. It's supposedly them trying to mimic human voices to talk to humans. Also the way your dog would bark and then look at you was so creepy. Totally looked like he was trying to show you something or lead you to something.
@McGyver-lx3hm7 жыл бұрын
if the guy who used to live in your house was a woodworker and he used to work in the basement then he would of had lots of stains, glues, and various kinds of woods. and even if the house sat empty for 20 years the scent would still be down there. woodworkers also like to use this stuff called hide glue, which is made from animal rawhide and dogs love this stuff. so the animals are probably just smelling this stuff and it's confusing them. as for the noises your house is very old and you are renovating it. beyond that animals like chipmunks and squirrels get into everything and while you can't hear them cats and dogs can. now I do believe in ghosts and that places can be haunted, but I don't think that is the case here. pro-tip: don't use a ouija board, ever.

HOLY SHIT, THE THREE KNOCKS HAVE HAPPENED TO ME TOO!! The first time it happened to me it was around 1am. I was the only one awake in my house, but I was getting ready to go to sleep. Got comfortable in bed & then I heard 3 knocks on my bedroom window. the window is literally at the foot of my bed so I got up right away to look out of it. THERE WAS NO ONE THERE. It was freaky as hell, but I went to sleep anyway. Then at around 3am, I woke up to get something to drink. As soon as I got back into bed, THERE WERE 3 KNOCKS ON THE FRONT DOOR. (the front door is by the hallway that leads to my room) That time, my mom, stepdad, and dog heard it. my dog flipped out and started barking, which made my mom and stepdad jump out of bed and go to the door. when they opened the door NO ONE WAS THERE. another weird experience is the time that my stepdad came rushing into my room in the middle of the night. he swore up and down that he heard me screaming "someone is in the hallway!" but no shit, I was dead asleep. He had to wake me up to ask me if I was okay.

He probably loved his home and maybe he doesn't even know he passed away so is still just wandering around and "living his life".. Or maybe he does know and just wants to stick around a little longer or doesn't want to pass on to the light yet. No need to be afraid I think. Talking to nothing may sound ridiculous but if you want him to go, maybe just talk to him that it's ok to go to the light or something.. We've had the same with our grandpa. He didn't want to die (died of cancer) and then just stuck around for a while before passing over..

This reminds me of my experiences at the previous home my boyfriend and I rented. I would hear and see things mostly only when I was alone and the dogs would freak out at nothing. Could hear things moving and footsteps in the attic. Once I was working and it sounded like a tree branch or something fell on the roof, but nothing was out there. I looked all around the house. It was a still, sunny April day. The only time Patrick heard anything was scratches on the wall that he dismissed as rats even though he does pest control and he couldn’t find any evidence of rats. Terrifying. Glad I moved.

people don't have to die in a place for it to be haunted
@Steiwerd7 жыл бұрын
Did you ever find out what it was that fell over that time when you came home and opened the door? One explanation is that opening the door caused draft between it and some ventilation in the basement, knocking something over that was in an unstable position. Furthermore, finding out that someone died in your house is not proof that the house is haunted or that ghosts exist. If you want to prove that something is going on, then set up a camera down there. It could even be a second "facecam" in your twitch streams, I'm sure that would be interesting for both you and your twitch followers. If you do find definitive video proof of stuff moving around that can't be explained, that again doesn't prove that it's a ghost. What's to say that what we perceive as "hauntings" are dead people, and not some completely undiscovered natural phenomena? If something is really going on, then aren't you eager to find out what it REALLY is?

Okay, this is obvious: if your life has become a horror movie then it's clear that your mom's colleague is involved in the story (honestly - NEW guy randomly knowing everything about your situation...). Maybe he is mad about you for buying the house and somehow terrorizes you now. Or he is a ghost trying to protect you. But anyways, as all these paranormal stories tell us: that grandfather is searching for something. If you help him find it, maybe he will get his eternal peace?!? Okay, just kidding around as a fan of horror movies as well. I don't really believe in supernatural stuff, but I totally understand that you are creeped out!!! Good luck - and please keep us updated.

However, if it was the old man knocking, maybe three knocks was just what he always did when he knocked. Now you KNOW something about the real thing with the grandpa who died in your basement maybe... have you tried doing an EVP session? maybe set up a camera to see if you catch anything. do you notice any cold areas in the basement? we are going to need more proof instead of a dog barking in a room.

Why would you go into your room from your garage after you hear something in the basement?! Smh.

lol. literally my life. I think I hear something and then I stay in my house and just let it happen. I would be the girl who dies first in the movies.
