My Husband Teaches Me To Bake... Biscuits| Baking for Beginners| #1

Hey guys this week I am sharing my 4th and final series in this roll out of series I am starting. After getting a ton of positive feedback from a Christmas baking video that I did featuring my husband. We decided to go ahead and make this a series. I've never taken the time to learn how to cook or bake and now here is my chance to learn and spend time with my husband. In this video Jordan picked the American Classic... The Buttermilk Biscuit. This is one of his go to food items that he makes. They are quick, easy and delicious!
HERE IS THE RECIPE
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1 cup + 2 tablespoons buttermilk
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
Weight Measurement Recipe... Jordan recommends only weighing out the Baking Powder and Soda if you have a super accurate scale for small measurements. We have a separate scale for small volumes.
330 grams flour
280 grams buttermilk
113 grams butter
12 grams baking powder
5 grams salt
2.5 grams baking soda

As an English person, and an avid baker, this was particularly interesting as I have often wondered what else is eaten with 'biscuits' other than 'gravy'. Our closest equivalent is the scone (rhymes with gone), which we would usually have with a cream tea 😋 Our biscuits, on the other hand are more like your cookies, although we actually use both words - cookies for the larger, squishier ones and biscuits for the harder ones (like digestives). All very confusing! 😂

Oh I’m so glad you found this interesting. I was curious what people in the UK would think of this. Jordan mention he was going to through scones in with the hint and talk about that. But he didn’t want to be too long winded with the hint. Seem like people like the history part so he’ll definitely incorporate more of that.

Oh yes we are a big honey household as well. Haha Jordan does know how to build and he had to learn how to hand-sew in boot camp... Oh can you tell he was in the military! 😂😂😂

@@MaileyElaine so it’s really weird, on my phone watching it, it sounded like your mic cut out. But then watching it on the tv (had to show the kids and hubby 😃) about the same time your voice just became slightly fuzzier but only slight and wasn’t more quiet like when I played it on my phone. I wonder if my phone speaker is acting up or something but Jordan’s sound never changed 🤷‍♀️

Hilarious!! I don't think Jordan likes being a teacher .... especially if you are the student!!🤪. I think it is better for him to SHOW you, rather than try and explain. He makes the biscuits and you follow along with your own bowl and ingredients!! in the UK we call those scones!! They look like Scones!!! You must have been trying to make English Muffins!!! How about you make Haggis from scratch !!! ha ha!! just kidding !

I said make it from scratch, so you would have to go out and chase a sheep to start with!!! But I don't expect you to make it, once you discover what it is.
