My Hysteroscopic Myomectomy experience

This video is all about my hysteroscopic myomectomy experience. I wasn't able to find any other youtube videos of other women sharing their experience (which was disappointing to me because I was so nervous), so I hope that someone else finds this video helpful at some point in time.

I just had my hysteroscopic myomectomy today, and I was in pain for first 3 hours after surgery. I was released an hour after, came home and took extra strength gel Advil, and a heating pad. Slept for another 2 hours but I’m good now, ate soup (first meal) only because I threw up at hospital in recovery. All I can say is to stay mentally strong and the rest will be okay.

I'm having a traditional Myomectomy in 5 days and your videos have really helped me mentally prepare. I had a hysteroscopic one a year ago but mine are pedunculated so it really didn't help. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I just learned about this procedure. I knew there must be a less invasive procedure than a laparoscopic myomectomy. I searched for D&C for fibroid and this procedure resulted. Since then I have been searching for real women that have had the procedure.

There's some research that suggests that Vitamin D and EGCG inhibits the growth of fibroids. It may be useful to look into this.

I just had my procedure done 1 week ago today. Our stories sound the same. I’m still having pain and slight bleeding. I do agree the recovery pain feels very uncomfortable. Glad your recovery was a quick. Good luck! Thanks for sharing.

I am sorry that they returned back! That's what's so worrying to me. Statistically, half of the women grow them again in 5 years of time. How are you now? Did you try to conceive after the first surgery?

Thank you for this video. I didn't know what to expect about the hospital experience. Did they have to insert a catheter before surgery? My gynecologist said that the only pain management that I would need is ibuprofen. So I am a bit concern about that.

I just had mine yesterday and no they didn't give me anything that was strong either. I had left over hydrocodone from another doctor, it's been 24 hours I was already driving today.

I’ve been dealing with severe cramps since I was 14 ( now I’m 30) and as I aged ( especially the past 6 months) my cycle has been extremely off. I had an ultrasound in 2013 and they said I had multiple non cancerous fibroids and cysts, 2cm being the largest.Which explains why I’m so tired and cranky. I just went to get a check up today and won’t see the specialist for another 4 months, my family doctor told me about the light invasive surgery they have where they make two small incisions and go through your body with a scope and cut off the blood supply to the fibroids. Is this what you had? What’s the recovery like? Do you stay in the hospital overnight? Thank you for sharing btw!

I'm having a hysteroscopy myomectomy this week for two fibroids inside the uterine cavity. I have to take medication the night before to dilate my cervix. This makes entering through the cervix easier.

This is the comment I was looking for! But ouch for your experience with having to take the dilation medicine a night before. I was given the medication to dialate one hour before surgery and i had no idea what that was or that i would need to take it. I found out the moment they came in to give it to me. I asked them "is this gonna hurt?" They looked nervous and said "uhh um yeah..." They didn't want to give me the bad news lol. How did you do the night you took it? I asked for a heating pad and thankfully that heating pad reduced the pain. It's not fair we're experiencing labor pains without going into labor. I was so shocked this even existed. I don't know why no one told me about this.

By the way, the pain felt somewhat similar to menstrual cramps but a bit more intense. It wasn't excruciating, but it did hurt. I don't do well with pain so pain tolerance might be better for some than for others. Asking for a heating pad helped reduce the pain. The pain lasted less than one hour And it slowly subsided. If there is such thing as these pains lasting longer than an hour, i won't make it. I'm saying cause idk if being in labor is pain for hours nonstop.

So I wanted to know what really happens down there ? Apart from cutting your hymen what else is cut and stitches ? I’m freaking out..

Yup. They made me sign up some documents and only upon my consent they agreed to proceed with the surgery. It went well . I was discharged after 3 days and I healed completely in 6 months but I had multiple fibroids and some really small ones so those have grown back again and I’m hoping to get another surgery done cz the pain is back again too :(

@@farahnaz8086 Sorry to learn that the fibroids have grown back. I'm researching which procedure I should do. I had 3 small fibroids but 2 of them merged into one big one. Feeling really uncomfortable these days and when I lay flat on my back, i can see it protrude out of my lower abdomen 😕. I think I may see if I can get them removed vaginally because my skin is prone to keloids and I'd rather not swap an inner growth for an outer growth

As long as the surgeon doesn't accidentally cut/slice something that they're not meant to, then yes you can. But it's not guaranteed

Hey I need some guidance on this.. in April 2019 I had 5 fibriods and the doctor chose to make small incisions in my stomach. The recovery took about a week or 2 for me. I still felt pain here and there but then I was OK. Then in December of 2021 I consulted with my doctor again and he informed me I have 5 more fibriods that grown back 4 outside the uterus and one that is about 4cm big on the inside. My husband and I want to conceive soon but, the doctor told me in order to do that the right way is to get a hysteroscopic myomectomy to get the one big fibriod on the inside of my uterus out. I want to know what recovery is like because my doctor is telling me I won't be able to really walk 2 or 3 days without assistance plus uterine pain but, then another video on here who is a doctor said 24 hrs but, I guess my doctor knows me best. Please if anyone has had this surgery please be real and let me know how it feels when u first wake up and First day( by the way my surgery is at 3 pm and recovery will be about an hr or so. So we won't be heading home till 6ish. Please help me understand what to expect! Thank you! 😊
