everyone gets so focused on their fretting hand - they don't pay attention to the most important part - their rhythm! pay attention to your strumming hand! make sure you keep time. get your rhythm playing inherently tight and precise. the rest will follow. other than that my advice is to play with musicians who are better than you. and learn the songs you love.
