Just so everyone knows, this is very much a one off video. More real motorsport content will be coming very soon.

About the concern of your channel becoming a gaming channel: Your channel *is* called TyDye RacingGaming, it's right there in the name. We can't really be all surprised pikachu about the possibility now can we. I'd be open to a second channel at least, your real life motorsport content has gotten me to actually start watching some real motorsport events like the Gulf 12 hour race and (for some reason) Nascar Brasil. Back on topic: games should try to strike a balance between casuals and hardcores. When it takes 15 hours just to get a car to work then the casuals will drop out, whereas if you immediately get 10583 supercars the hardcores will feel betrayed. I don't have an Xbox, but what you said about silly cars does ring true. In GT6 I usually entered Drift lobbies with a Volvo 240 GLT Estate. Hell, I once entered a GT3 race in a regular prius for funsies because the timer was about to run out and I panicked. When you stop people being able to have a bit of dumb fun in what is basically a car collecting game, it kinda ruins the one thing that a game with that many cars can really have over its rivals.
@Senhor_Queijo10 ай бұрын
Actually I don't think games should strive for a balance, this is killing the variety of racing games, Wich nowadays all want to be Forza
@namugriff10 ай бұрын
The irony is, when they changed the levels you gain the upgrades, they left the amount of car points needed to buy each one the same, so you still have level grind the cars anyway to get said high upgrades.

Game publishers now often think that games are measured in value by the number of hours it takes to complete rather then by the quality of those hours. My four favourite games of all times are Civilization 4, Jak and Daxter: The Precurser Legacy, X3: Reunion and Team Fortress 2. I've gotten hundreds of hours in this at the low end and thousands in most, yet I'm never grinding away at them out of obligation. Jak and Daxter takes me about 10 hours to do a completionist runthrough of the game and I've play it at least once per year for nearly 20 years now, yet I never get board doing it because I enjoy every minute of it. X3 is a great time waster since I'm familiar enough with the controls after nearly 20 years of playing it that I can enjoy listening to my backup streams while space trucking or pirate hunting. Civ4 and TF2 are games that need no explanation for why they're enjoyable in a way that suits my adult life with a full time work schedule just fine. Personally I don't think we can even put this down to publishers not making games that work with adult schedules, as the children these games are aimed at have school and social lives, this grind doesn't do anyone any good.

I pretty much agree with everything you said in this. I still believe that there is a faint heartbeat coming from FM, that it wants to succeed but that upgrade system is the bane of everyone's existence. It's essentially choking the life out of the game and that just angers me because i know that Forza Motorsport can be good but the devs ignore the elephant in the room. More so, with recent fixes, they seem to be doubling down on this system so for the short term, we're stuck with what we got. Apart from that, a questionable career mode and some small nitpicks that can all be propely fixed, the driving and racing is great... except that they are rotating the same 6 weeks of races for Touring cars and GTs every time with little to no change wich turned me of from playing it for the time being. I can't even be bothered for the weekly rotating events wich i also enjoyed! Multiplayer was arguably the only thing i did at all! I really hope this game ages well because we deserve better.
@DiscGolfLeagueMVP10 ай бұрын
My controversial opinion? I like how the upgrade system works, but I wish it only applied to the career mode. Have the career mode have its own currency, while the rest of the game has a parallel currency that you earn from everything (including career) with slightly higher payouts to make purchasing upgrades easier.

Baffling how the single player was handled when the spec class multiplayer is (widely) pretty well done. cars can be "rented" and do not need levelling up, unless you specifically want one to earn XP/cash or put a paint on it

As a person with a day job, and doing some content creation on the side. I havent found the grind unreasonable to access cars and parts. It may also have something to do with my skill level and how i engage with the game where i do get benefit from taking time lapping in practice for the first few rounds and sussing out howni feel with the car, and after like 2 rounds i have enough upgrades to start building. It does take more time to really get to more exotic options like driveline and drive train swaps, but ifni want to go that deep in a car i dont find it a chore to un lock it that far Between rivals and online racing are some the best xp gains i see, and the most fun

Your experience with Forza is identical to mine. I bought my first XBox, a 360, and FM3 at the same time. I enjoyed it so much, I’ve bought every Motorsport title since from 4 through 7, and all five Horizon games. Just like 4, 5, 6, and 7, I preordered the Ultimate Edition of (not 8). But the more I heard about the grindy nature of the upgrade system, the less sure I wanted to buy the game. Having heard enough, I cancelled the preorder a week before its release. Every review of Motorsport I’ve read or watched has convinced me I made the right choice. It amazes me that the game could get all the way through development with this horribly flawed upgrade system in place.
@CoreyC22510 ай бұрын
I do completely agree with just about everything here. Especially the leveling system The only thing I would say I hard disagree on is making cars TOO easy to get. I haven't dropped a game as hard as I dropped FH5 when I realized the game was just going to literally sensory overload me with all of the most expensive cars an hour into the game. FM8 destroyed the sense of progression through the leveling system, but I would argue FH5 destroyed the sense of progression through force feeding you new cars you don't even want. There's a balance in there, and this generation Turn10 forgot entirely what that word means.
@berserkfuryyy679810 ай бұрын
I didn't buy it either. The upgrade system was exactly the reason I loved Forza. I completely agree with you.
@Evarakeus10 ай бұрын
I don't know why they didn't just adapt Gran Turismo's progression system, it's super straightforward and increasing it is independent of specific gameplay. You improve your collector level simply by collecting cars, including ones you get for free, based on their value, which is imo a brilliant idea considering one of the core facets of the game is collecting cars. The only reason I can think of for not using some sort of system like this is it isn't grindy, which Turn 10 clearly valued over player enjoyment in FM
@zucar1tas9 ай бұрын
Turn 10 already said that they are changing the upgrade system, you can get every upgrade from level 1 and now you can buy car points with credits, fully upgrade a car is like 100/120k credits like in Horizon 5. It is coming in update 6 in march. I'm sad about it because I liked a lot the old system but oh well, looks like I'm the minority.

This video wasn't useless I can assure you, ever since I got my very own Xbox 360 alongside forza motorsport 4, I have been purchasing every single forza title, horizon and motorsport (apart from fm1 and fm5) to date... including the most recent one, my opinions on it? The first video game let alone forza title that I tried to refund, putting aside my gripes with the game itself, quick note to add on the 6 years of development, apparently, this hasn't been completely confirmed buy I've hear and seen this from a few of sources, 3 ro 4 Yeats into the development of fm8 as I'll call it, turn 10 and Microsoft got into it and then all of the progress made was deleted, then covid hit which haulted progress even more. This is backed up by the fact that most of the modern cars we got in the game are from fh5 and the car pass cars, which mostly contain racing cars, ignoring the vintage ones, are from 2018 to 2019, this game was supposed to be in development for 6 years, but it was cut short. Thank you for this video, I've already seen ton like this but no so one's that have had a more personal feeling.

I played the new motorsport for more than 200 hours and I completed agree. The driving is the best part of the game, but everything, and I do mean everything, else in the game is broken or is a worse version from previous titles. They massively fucked up this entry and the devs silence probably means the game will be abandoned broken as it is.

Forza Motorsport is my first Forza game that isn’t a horizon and I think it’s fun. The upgrade system is lame but it makes it so I get the most out of every level of upgrades. The game looks great and the handling is a lot of fun. Multiplayer can be bs but that’s all multiplayer games.

I had the full intention of getting a Forza Tuning/Tutorial KZbin channel off the ground with the release of the new Motorsport title. I spent hundreds of hours tuning cars in FM7 learning the ins-and-outs of how to make any car into a weapon. I applied the knowledge I gained in engineering school, and had laid out the groundwork of how to make each Tuning setting digestible, and understandable for the average gamer. The upgrade system in the new Motorsport title literally instantly crushed that idea. There was no possible way to put out a steady stream if content with the immense grind required to tune individual cars. Huge disappointment to say the least, and I'm left with a bitter taste in my mouth from what was my favorite racing game series for over 10 years.

I got the game through game pass because I wasn’t sure of the game. Was a good idea for me considering I put about 12 total hours into it. For context, I used to race and drift competitively on Forza 7, a game which I put numerous hours into. The Motorsport is just so bad
@pagz777910 ай бұрын
The Forza devs have been blatantly lying to the community for so long now. I've been a loyal Forza supporter since FM3 as well, and I was really hoping that the new "reboot" of Motorsport was going to finally make the game what we have wanted for a long time. But seeing how this is easily the most despised game they've created, I'm just about out of hope that they will ever listen to what their fans really want. They managed to create such a cash cow out of the Horizon franchise that they completely ruined what made the first game great, and now seemingly don't care about Motorsport at all. The new game was not a ground-up new game at all like they said it would be, and is pretty much just a super stripped down version of any of the old games thrown together in a hurry. I think a clean house of the top devs might be a start to get this series back on track finally.
@Youbombs10 ай бұрын
The fact that they patched the money exploit and AI progression makes the game just not worth starting new. The grind is such a miserable experience, and all of the cars handle so terribly without any upgrades. It's such a shame, too, because once you have the upgrades the game can be fun

3:51 You don't need a console though. It's on Game Pass and available on PC, where the graphical settings can turn themselves down quite low to run on lower-end hardware. Yes the game will look like a potato, but it is playable.

The upgrade system is horrible for the freedom that the game had. They reduced the car part unlock levels (max lvl of 50 down to 25) but never adjusted the car points you get with each level so some cars starting with low pi still need high car levels to even be brought up to A class. There so many things wrong with the game I have significantly reduced the amount I have played the game since the 2nd and 3rd update (which didn't fix a lot of things). The game feels rushed with a UI that's worse than FM5 in my opinion and game design choices that were just poor.

Forza lost all of its appeal, edge and personality, when playground games decided to try to make their games appeal to everyone, in turn making the game unappealing to their primary audience: racing gamers. I felt downright insulted by the lack of depth, lack of personality and lack of care for healthy online gaming culture found in Forza Horizon 4 and 5. I am disgusted by the fact that there is literally no progression in these games. You start Forza Horizon 5 with a Corvette. A Corvette!! That's perfectly within the current Zeitgeist of putting more emphasis on justifying laziness than reward actual effort. That's also why Forza Horizon rewards players for atrocious driving. The developers just don't care! As long as people get addicted to the horrible eliminator mode and participate in idiotic seasonal events, they're happy. But no one else is. I acknowledge that Forza Motorsport tried to go back to the roots of the franchise, but just like every other developer of competitive video games these days, they found a way to ruin the experience for everyone by trying to hook up players for an addiction. TL,DR: The current Zeitgeist of Gaming sucks.

Just finished watching it; you absolutely nailed the point. Everyone I race with has majority given up playing Forza and racing games entirely because they have only an Xbox, or if they have a PC they have since moved on to brighter pastures such as myself; because if I’m going to fiddle with a game to the extent I have to with Forza I’m going to fiddle with a game that allows me to mod it to exactly how I want for online competition (Such as BeamNg)
