My Jewish ancestry (and a long tangent on mormonism)

I talk about my Jewish heritage from a midnight rabbit hole into my ancestry.
I also go on a tangent about my special interest in mormon cults, as it is (very distantly) related to my genealogy journey.

Hey Ingrid, I must say firstly that the picture of you and your uncle is just adorable! ☺Was fascinating to hear more of your own roots and heritage. I've long felt we're all interconnected in ways we don't often and may never fully even realize. Still want to look further into my own family's roots. Actually, I have a friend I've visited in AZ for years who married into a Mormon family, and another who lives nearby them who only found out recently about his own Ashkenazi Jewish roots, so you never know...Thanks for sharing all of this with us. -Carm

Hi Ingrid, Interesting video. I only knew few things about mormons. I know very few things about my ancestors and probably I won't be able to have records because probably they are lost ... Oh Lithuania! Interesting. If you remember we spoke about of Lithuania in your last live, what a connection. Oh so you remember about the live! ( I'm commenting as I'm going through the video) You mom didn't become a doctor but you are , interesting how things went. generational traumas... For me it's the probably the case. Truly interesting ancestry! Btw, don't worry, I firmly believe that in the afterlife we cannot be forced to a "specific heaven" against our will. If we qualify for heaven we are free to choose the place that suits us. Or maybe there's only one heaven for all that suits every soul that gets there. That's just what I believe. But either way, I wouldn't worry about it. :)

I was Mormon for 26 years through and through. Just some nit picking corrections: 1) you don’t actually have to be related to be baptized for someone - Mormons just like to do that because it feels more special. 2) in Mormon theology the person getting vicariously baptized is actually given the option wether or not to accept that baptism, so they don’t necessarily become Mormon. Having said that, I don’t believe a word of it anymore 😂. That’s just the way Mormons see it.

Very complex Ingrid! My children are all of Jewish (Ashkenazi & Sephardic) descent through their mothers side, confirmed by genetic testing. Have you ever done a genetics ancestry test? It'll pull a lot of this back out and confirm it. Could be surprising.

That's pretty interesting that you're more than half Lithuanian - I wonder if you have Baltic DNA! (I love Lithuania so I'm a bit excited by that.) Your Mormon-cult rabbit holes are so interesting ha. idiosyncratic

@@vondelpete ah well rather I'm 25% lithuanian and 25% belarussian or something, maybe I'll do a DNA test someday 😅 is there anything cool to see in Lithuania?

@@radishraven9 Yeah a DNA test would be very interesting! Funny, I've seen even more of Belarus than Lithuania. But in Lithuania I had a great time years ago in Klaipeda cycling the Curonian Spit and I wish I could live in Vilnius or Kaunas.
