Nice one John! You're welcome for the recommendation! Asphyx, God Dethroned and Pestilence are fantastic bands, need to check out more of their stuff. I've never listened to Sinister but they're on the list. That Gorefest album is really good, the first thing I heard of their stuff. I may listen to it again, it's been a while. I've heard of Ayreon but never listened to them, the other bands I've never heard of. Will be cool to do a part 2 with more obscure bands 😁🤘🏻

@jcrockandmetalreviews You're welcome! Ah nice that'll be cool, I can't help you unfortunately. I know they have a decent symphonic Metal scene over there, with bands like Epica and Within Temptation (though that's not my thing)

@@JoshKeech no worries. Hopefully this video reaches the Netherlands. This way I can get recommendations from those who live there.

Cool list, I need to check some of those bands out. I would say a few bands you need to cover that you haven't is Circus Maximus from Norway mostly known for their first 3 albums and their singer Michael Erikson. Their last album "Havoc" is not a fan favorite...lol. What might be interesting would be to take a new band you have not heard and listen to their first album and compare to their latest to see what changes they have made if any. I think for music lovers that would be really interesting. Another is Seventh Wonder from Sweden. By a lot of fans of power/progressive metal their album Mercy Falls is a masterpiece. Vocalist Tommy Keravik was raised liking more pop influenced music like Michael Jackson and this singing style is much more emotive than typical power/progressive metal.

Hi John!!! those are really good dutch bands, but i have not heard most of them maybe because i'm not a big symphonic metal or extreme metal fan...... i would like to recommend some old bands from the 80's Angus, Martyr, Mennem don't know if they are still active and of course Vandenberg and the other band he had Vandenberg's Moonkings.... cheers and be well

Check out 'Reformist'. A metalcore band with big melodeath influences. They come with an album in February. They already brought out two EP's. Very much worth your listen.

That's a very decent list! Slechtvalk is not bad, but it shouldn't surprise anyone that they are heavily ridiculed by just about the entire extreme metal scene in The Nether Realms I can recommend Severe Torture as well. Pretty brutal deathmetal. The bass player is heavily influenced by Alex Webster from Cannibal Corpse. I really like their full body of work, but their two newest albums are a wee bit more varied.

I would recommend Doodswens, The Unlord, Fluisterwoud (all "Black Metal") of which the latter has only Dutch lyrics. Or Acrostichon, Kutschurft en Kaasschaaf if you're into Grind Core. Heidevolk for some Pagan Metal and I assume the other genres are already established... ;-)

@@jcrockandmetalreviews Thinking of favorite Dutch metal shows, Aux raus also needs a mention, they stopped in 2012 but they are the most punk band that made it into mainstream. With a combo of metal and gabber. This interview with their dads is cute, but sad how little support they got. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoWol6GPhcyEmZo

I find the lack Epica in this list a shame, They are arguably one of the most popular metal bands from the Netherlands today. Ayreon is pronounced AY-ray-on (emphasis on the first syllable). Transitus is also a very a-typical album. It does not follow the main story of all the other Ayreon albums. I would recommend 01011001 or The Source instead.

Yeah, I will include Epica in part 2. I'll have to check out the other albums by Ayreon as well.
