If you are in southern Ontario I suggest getting some anti rust lubrication spray from crappy tire to keep the moving parts from rusting & from freezing up in winter

Do you leave the rack on your car all the time? That’s a lot of rust.

The rack lives on the truck. I ride 5 to 9 times a week. Hauling off the rack is just asking for trouble, damage and injury

It is aluminum. It is not rust, it is corrosion. If you live where they salt every rack will look like that. The locks are steel cables that are encased. So they will not dry out and will rust

@@user-mm9hv2oj8d parts of the rack are aluminum while other parts are steel. So there will be respective corrosion on any iron based part that will show as red/brown rust. The aluminum corrosion is a white flaking and dust. The cables and locks also corrode. I have used a special Krown rust spray that's supposed to inhibit rust in the Canadian environment. However, it makes the system oily and that picks up dirt making it messy to handle.
