I am looking forward to springtime and as Laura S says "Itching" to work in the yard. I totally agree with you on the scent of a candle. I am always excited to see what you find at the consignment stores. My mom has a corner wicker clothes hamper but love your corner basket and can't wait to see how you utilize it. Thanks for all your videos.

For the rust on that pretty pillowcase Linda, purchase some WHINK RUST STAIN REMOVER (brown bottle). Have used it many times on fabrics, especially vintage pieces. A lit dab, maybe twice. The rust should disappear, then launder. Works like magic for me!

Linda, prayers and good wishes for a speedy recovery. You are so considerate to have recorded videos ahead of time. Truly thoughtful. Thank you. This video reminds me so much of my New England childhood. All winter, but particularly at Christmas time, I would select some evergreen trees on our land and spend days filling walnut shells with suet, nut butters and pack them with seeds. I would make suet balls rolled in seed and string fruit and popcorn and then trudge out into the woods and field and decorate the trees. I'd also place carrots and lettuce under the trees. Then I'd burrow down in the snow and watch the birds come (and other critters!). I especially loved seeing the cardinals and chickadees. It is one of my favorite memories. I am older than you - but I think had we been children together we would have become fast friends. Again - healing thoughts! Stay warm and well.

Are used to do the same! I would blow myself into the snow and watch the birds close and sometimes they would even let me catch them and release them.
@kittydurtschi25042 жыл бұрын
@@newenglandfineliving That's magical. Clearly they recognized your kind spirit. I used to take care of injured birds (I kept a special birdcage for them in the cellar) and then would release them when they were well. Once, when I was playing on the beach (I grew up on an island) a seagull flew down and let me hold him. We sat on a rock together for a while, then he spiraled upward until he became just a dot in the sky. And, let's not forget the crows! They are so interesting and smart. We lived out in the country and I spent a lot of time alone playing in the woods ...building forts and creating imaginary worlds. Of course, this was all well before computers, and "screen time"....Again, I hope you heal quickly. (I shattered my wrist 2 years ago in a fall...Take it easy! Let others "do" for you!). Gentle hugs, kindred spirit.

I think the satsuma mentioned in your candle variety would be the Satsuma mandarin as the candle has other citrus in it. The bookshop you bought your books from sounds very interesting. I love the corner basket. So handy for taller items. I was interested to see how the kissing ball went. I was thinking the potato may rot and go smelly but instead the plant material used it for moisture and food. Fascinating.

Satsumas are a type of tangerine. Love the birdhouse. I have always been drawn to them too. Oooh, that England cottage garden book USA, looks so interesting. I hope you share about that! My rosemary always does well by the kitchen sink, in a sunny window. It needs water a couple times a week. I shake water drops on it too. You can make a candy with them. The skin is thinner on the outside then orange. They will be use to decorate the orange baskets. I will send you some recipes. I had kumquat trees at my last house. They come out the same time as oranges. Thank you for letting me know what to do with tulips. Take care.

You make such nice selections! I wanted to warn you since you said you don't do well with indoor plants, Rosemary (and lavender) indoors can be tough. Like outside, they should not be overwatered. What they do love is moisture in the form of mistings. I have learned to water infrequently but mist over the top with a spray bottle of water and they are lasting much better indoors. Good luck!
