Potential fix for the battery issue I experienced. I will test this. See notes from Paul from EGO Hi there, to those who would like clea instructions on starting the snowblower to avoid this, please read below. The safety button in the center of the control dashboard must be firmly pushed for at lest one second before engaging the auger-switch trigger. If the safety button is pushed too quickly or lightly then the batteries will blink red in the first fuel gauge indicator, suggesting there charge is low. This will also occur if the headlight button is pressed too quickly. You can easily correct this by removing the batteries, reinserting them, and starting the process again. If you need further guidance, we are there seven days a week: 1-855-346-5656.

This is a great snowblower. I ran this blower all last year in East Central Iowa--dry snow, wet snow, a couple inches, 8 inches, over a foot, etc. Not to mention the snow deposited in the driveway by the city plow--high and hard packed. This Ego 2-stage blower does it all. To make the snow removal easier at the end of the driveway where the plow deposits its snow from two lots of street, I added a set of the drift-cutter bars, and those have helped getting through deep, hard snow deposits. About using the turbo speed--Not needed very often, and it really hits the runtime of the batteries. I've refined my technique to use the Turbo function almost never, even in 8-12 inches of new snow. The only place I've found I really need Turbo power is getting through the plow piles at the end of the driveway--The plow really compacts the snow and makes high, dense piles, and the Turbo power does allow the blower to get through the dense deposits without a problem. I've learned that instead of cranking the auger speed up to the top, I just slow down the speed the blower is moving through the snow, which usually does the trick. Also as one can see from this video and a number of others out there, throwing the snow great distances often makes a bigger mess than the one the blower is cleaning up, and a lot of snow comes back into the operator's face when the wind is blowing from the wrong direction. The thing I really like about the chute controls is that they can be adjusted to put the snow just a foot or two away from the blower's path when needed. From there, the operator can adjust the placement of the snow as the blower is operating when needed, avoiding blowing the snow out into the street or into someone else's driveway or walk. For those with large areas needing snow removal, Ego is getting ready to sell this blower with 2 10 AH batteries. I'm just wondering why they don't have those showing a a current product on their website since the 10 AH batteries have been around for almost a year now, and this 2-stage snowblower is the perfect application for them.

Well, I have the mower and trimmer...and love them. I just got this blower (had a lot to do with your raving reviews in all your videos). I had very high expectations and tonight was the maiden voyage....it did not meet expectations. I was going through 6" - 7" of wet snow and using eco mode for speed and auger. This was horribly slow and painful. The second drive was packing with snow. I will attempt another use. I love the light weight and the lights however, in all honesty, this very expensive blower has no where near the power of my old craftsman gas blower. I do appreciate all your reviews though.

If the time between pushing center button and activating the auger is too short or out of sequence then the batteries will display the red lights as you have seen. You can return them to normal display by pushing the release button for both and then reinstalling them. This has happened to me during use.

I'll preface with I was using older 5ah batteries that do not have a fuel indicator on them. The issue I encountered was the indicator would blink orange. What I was told by Ego is this indicates an over-discharge situation. If you are trying to move heavy wet snow or snow that is to deep at rate that is too quick for the batteries to supply power to the machine the batteries will shut the machine down and flash orange to protect themselves. During this state the batteries may also become overheated. Letting them rest for a few and then reinstalling them solved this short term. But the answer is to slow the machine down by decreasing the drive speed. Even to the point of just stopping to let the machine catch up and clear itself of snow within the auger. This was most prevalent at the driveway apron with the deep wet plowed snow. By slowing down the issue seems to have been resolved. This may not be specifically your issue but maybe some others have had issue. Also another known issue is the Chute moves on its own towards the right of the machine. Ego has a free solution to this issue if you call them they will send you a clip that attaches underneath where the 2 spare shear pins are located. This clip puts direct pressure on the gears that control the Chute direction. This stops the unintended movement. It does however make the Chute a little bit harder to move via the control handle.

@Tech Made Easy, I cannot wait for more snow blower videos. After watching a few videos I am re-considering getting the 10ah 2-stage & I may go with the 7.5ah 2-Stage. I'm not sure yet. Can the battery be put back on the charger after they have been run down to zero or do you have to wait & then re-charge them? Or, does the charger cool the batteries down & then begin charging them?
@TechMadeEzy2 жыл бұрын
EGo would tell you yes but I recommend waiting to let them cool down, also I would recommend slow charging to extend the life of the batteries. Bottom line as you get into ego having 2 sets of batteries is the way to go especially in areas that get a lot of snow.

looked at this today at Lowes, and i was concerned about how hard it was to move the chute left and right with the plastic handle. Is it easier to adjust when it's running? Did the store assemble it too tightly somehow? I can see the plastic handle snapping off in cold weather after multiple uses.

I couldn’t afford this unit and I really didn’t need a real snow blower per say. My driveway is only two cars in length and a little wider than my truck. I wanted to purchase a handheld version of a snow blower called a power shovel that is battery powered just like the ego products. Unfortunately Ego doesn’t make anything like this. So I had to buy a Toro 60v cordless power shovel. It works great for my needs and does last about an hour after fully charged. Maybe Mr. Tech Made Easy can send a shout out to Ego and find out why they’ve dropped the ball on this particular model of snow shoveling needs. Too bad the batteries from Ego aren’t compatible with the Toro. Just my 2 cents worth. Great video by the way.

Your welcome. I already own the self propelled lawnmower and a one piece hand held trimmer; not the multi-tool version. The only thing that Ego offers for hand held device for snow removal is a bristle brush and a paddle brush attachment, both of which are hard to find in stores or even available online. I prefer Ego products. We can only wait and see. Hopefully Ego will come up with something in the near future that’ll help cover all the bases dealing with all types of lawn and garden and snow removal needs; not just a few. Ego needs to start hitting home runs instead of thinking of just getting a hit and going around the bases of life one base at a time, trying to figure out how to bring it home! Just my opinion.

Just like any other tool is susceptible to problems, these are too, but there are solutions for all problems as long as one knows what they're dealing with.
