Don’t forget the military families. While their sacrifice is no where near their beloved’s, they give more than people know. When their military family member is away, they’re handling the everyday stresses of being single parents. When the member is home, if they’ve got PTSD, their traumatic suffering completely alters a family, too.

Thank you brother. Being vulnerable is the way of the Warrior, it has been from the beginning; the willingness to face the horror without losing one's Humanity, inside, is what separates the Warrior from the mere Brute. Understand, this isn't a judgment, it's a question of what kind of person one wants to be. Ask this of yourself; Incorrigible-Integrity, is the active description of Honor; it's not about rules, it's about who you want to be. ''Share your fears with yourself and your courage with others. In 2018, cancer took my dad from me at the age of 75. I have to admit that while I still miss the old man who held a PhD in architecture, taught me how to use a rotary hammer when I was six, showed me how to pour reinforced concerete when I was ten, and in general was the best dad I could ever imagine (I was with him the day before he died, and I'm glad that I was able to tell him that he was the best dad I could ever imagine and that I wouldn't have wanted to be anybody but him to be my father), I still somehiow fail to grasp what me dad meant to me mum. Because my parents were together for 56 years, married for 51 years and despite having their shart of troubles, they always managed to work out theit problems and had a happy marriage for slightly over a half century. And if that doesn't count for something, I honestly don't know what could. So I sincerely condone you for losing your partner of 35 years, but don't you ever forget: The fact that your wife's not here anymore doesn't even remotely matter in the grand scheme of things - because what actually matters is the fact that you found each other and were married for thirty-fucking-five years - because that is something literally noone will ever be able to take away from you - not even that cruelly insensitive and relentless motherfucker who goes by the name of "Death". So those 35 years were fucking real and they will always be. And if you honor your wife in any way, don''t ever forget that. BTW: I'm an A&E nurse for eight years now who sadly had to give that speech to a lot of people, especially in the last 15 months - but I do asssure you that we mean every word as sincere as it sounds. Because losing a loved one is no easy matter for noone, especially not for us nurses and doctors involved. Believe you me: we do care. And every life we lose hurts. :-/

We really need to start waking up to this, because it's a fact. My own son is the one that woke me up to this, after he got back from Iraq. I watch this video a lot... It makes me appreciate life a lot more and everytime I watch this or replay it in my mind I realize more and more we only have one life and how we are all so lucky to have each other, our own lives, a place to call home... But I'm just 13 and I'm probably just rambling on about nothing

It's an amazing mindset to have! Especially in your teens when you're just starting to figure things out.

You're NOT rambling on about nothing... You're pondering Reality and learning, at a good age, to realize that there are things that truly matter and make life richer. There are also things, ALOT of things, which are nearly worshipped by some, that, in the end, don't matter at all. I pray God grants you the Wisdom to discern the difference, every day.

@Deimos Cain Flip that coin over, there is a whole other side to it. Some people are stuck on the negative of loss, but some choose to celebrate the lives of the fallen. Who they were, what they accomplished, silly shit they did. My own flesh and blood brother was taken from us in 2006 and i am still all fucked up over it. Why him and not me? I failed as an older brother. He was the better son, the better person. etc etc etc... But for the possitive and happy memories of everything he did and we did together, my flag would have been folded too. I Choose Life. And the only way my life is sustained, Positive and Happy memories. HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!! Hooah!

@Deimos Cain now you are saying what i said about remember the positive etc. That isnt what you said in your first comment. Call it what you will, but you are waaaay off about what/why I'm doing, thinking, feeling. Still, Happy Remembrance Day every day. Cheers
