It is a good tutorial on the setup but you forgot to cover the internet connection setup. I am specifically interested in this aspect of live streaming from another location other than my home. Thanks.
@tombuck2 жыл бұрын
I've never personally done anything fancy with our home internet. It's just average Spectrum wifi (ideally we'd be one some super fast hardwired setup, but oh well). I recently made a video about the YoloBox Pro, which is a portable live streaming switcher/encoder. It's possible to put a SIM card into it and have it operate as its own network source (or you can also tether it to a wifi hotspot). That might be something to look into if you're streaming from lots of difference locations.

@tombuck3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! I would definitely recommend working to use the Blackmagic for streaming since it really delivers outstanding quality and can easily be suited with a power adapter to run forever. But the M50 with the Canon EOS Webcam Utility is super simple/convenient. Luckily both cameras use Canon lenses. I’d recommend getting the EF-M adapter for your M50- then you can use the same lenses with both cameras. From there, finding a good prime lens is key. You can get a 50mm for pretty cheap, but it’s probably going to be too tight. Maybe a 35mm or 24mm if you have the budget.

Great video and tour, Tom! Just curious as to why you use a TRRS cable to output sound from your MacBook instead of simply using the USB channel on the Rodecaster Pro?

If you have a remote guest what in your experience is the best option for bringing that guest in audio quality wise other than through a standard phone call? I read that zoom compresses the audio and skype not that reliable.

The video I made before this one talks about having your guest record themselves locally and then mixing the two files together. There are also platforms like Zencastr, which I haven't used myself but have heard great things about.

Great vid as always! I noticed that you have two cables going to/from the "elvid" camera monitor. Is it the RVM-7B-ALT you're using since that one has pass-through? I'm assuming you're doing pass-through from the camera to the monitor and then into the ATEM Mini? What's the second "gray" cable going to/from? So curious of all the stuff, sorry :)
@tombuck3 жыл бұрын
One cable is the power supply and the gray one is HDMI from the ATEM so I can see what's selected 👍

Hi, I have a question. Do you use your DSLR as Webcam? Correct? I have a situation here that I would like you to help me. I use my canon 90D as a webcam. I connect it to the Atem Mini switcher. Atem mini is capture board. I configure the camera to have a clean output and disable automatic shutdown. What is certain is that after 30 minutes the camera turns off. I am not recording with the camera. I'm just spreading an image. I don't understand why. You can help? I know that a lot of people use their DSLR as a webcam, including Canon 90D. Thank you.

Hey there! I use my EOS R as a webcam, and I recently got the ATEM Mini too. I went into the camera’s energy saving settings and disabled any kind of shutoff or display off and I haven’t had any issues. It sounds like that what you’ve done with your 90D, so I’m not sure why it’s still turning off 🤔
@MalhaAzuleBranca4 жыл бұрын
@@tombuck Yes, I made this with my 90D. Do I have to update my camera's firmware? I made not this never.
@tombuck4 жыл бұрын
You could try updating the firmware, but it might also be a good idea to reach out to Canon’s customer support team and see if they can guide you. I’m sure it’s just a setting somewhere- I’d love to know if you fix it!

Question? Going live with guests on rodecaster I hear the guest can not hear music if your playing it through epidemic sound. And do you get echo through live streaming with guest? I’m thinking of using restream.
@tombuck3 жыл бұрын
It depends on how you're using it with guests. If you've got the guest's audio coming through the USB channel, you'll need to have USB mix minus turned on to avoid an echo, but this will also stop them from hearing your music. You can run a 3.5mm cable from the headphone jack of your computer to the smartphone channel of the Rodecaster and then use that for playing your audio. If your guest's output is set as the Rodecaster, it shouldn't overlap with the audio coming from the headphone jack.
@nickjoe1893 жыл бұрын
@@tombuck Thank you, would that 3.5mm need to be trrs or trs??

@@tombuck also I’m Using it for KZbin live streaming with restream or stream yard that’s how my guest would be coming in. With my rodecaster hooked to my laptop. But I understand what you are saying, in order for my guest to hear any play back coming from my laptop is not possible while they are on the stream?

Great video Tom. Do you find that you have any syncing issues between your audio and video? I find that the rodecaster has almost 0 latency when selecting it as an audio source plugged directly into the computer, but the Elgato camlink 4K has a slight delay (about 5-6 frames on my machine) causing the video and audio to be slightly out of sync? Do you experience this same issue? do you have any methods for handling it? I thought about plugging the rodecaster directly into the microphone input of the camera so they enter the computer together over the HDMI, but I’d prefer to have the cleaner audio directly from the rodecaster.
@tombuck4 жыл бұрын
I haven’t had any issues with streamyard, but I used to have that issue with OBS. I think streamyard work some kind of magic to keep things synced.
@scottpaquette27214 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing with an HDMI video input + a XLR audio input. I know if you're using an ATEM Mini or OBS you can set delays in the audio to match video. Maybe when Tom does his ATEM Mini video (please?) we can see that in action

Hi Tom, first of all thanks for all the high-quality tutorial videos! Really great productions! Just wanna ask about the Edelkrone SliderONE & HeadONE, how long could yours run? Because I'm using the same setting on my weekly piano livestream just like yours, but my SliderONE just keep running out the battery life within 1 hour or even less. I've had a SliderONE V1 and it could last more than 2 hours (but unfortunately it couldn't pair with HeadONE). It really bothers me and I couldn't focus on my livestream.

Hey, thanks for the kind words! I get about an hour or a little more, depending on how new the Canon battery is that I'm using. Several months ago I began using the iFootage Shark Slider Nano and I absolutely love it. Once of the big benefits is that it can run off USB power, which means it has an unlimited runtime.
@SLSMusic3 жыл бұрын
@@tombuck Thanks for reply! Yes I've watched your iFootage video and that seems really awesome! Just like Slider+HeadONE, thanks for information, hope I could find one in Taiwan. And btw I think I've found the problem, it's the battery I bought with SliderONE from Edelkrone website "Wasabi Power LP-E6". The battery storage is much lower than it supposed to be. I've read the review on Amazon and many people have same issues like me. Hope things would be better after I got my new battery.

Tons! As long as you can get clean HDMI out and disable any sort of auto-power off function, you’re good to go. I used the EOS R for both purposes for a long long time. I still do, but now I also have the Sony a7SIII. The Sony a7C and a6400 are great options too.
