Therapy is essentially having an insightful conversation with someone you trust, I'm fairly certain we have all done that at some point in our lives, however- some of us pay for a professional and some people will just talk to a close buddy. Good job, keep up the good work.

Aw Carlie! This was such a good vlog. It's just nice to have a really comfortable environment where, even when the topic is kind of on the heavy side (ex. therapy), you still keep things light and good. Anyways, I've just been really loving your videos lately! Good luck with the soccer game! :D

Carlie, grab 2 or 3 soccer balls and ask your players to pass an run, this way they will be receiving a pass quite often, and moving into space. Ask them to pass it, then look for another person with the ball, and call for it. Pass an move drill, great for kids at that age

I think what helps is refecting on your own actions! So I'm studying to be a social worker and we have to reflect alllllllll the dang time. We use this: step 1: Describe the event you want to reflect on. Don't use opinions, just describe. Step 2: Describe your thoughts: What were you thinking while doing what you did? Also describe what you think the other person was thinking. Step 3: Describe your feelings. What were you feeling during? Also describe what you think the other person was thinking. Step 4: Describe what you then did, after the event happened. How did you handle it? What did you say? Etcetera. Step 5: Describe alternatives: What will you do different (or the same!) the next time something equal to this happens? And what are and will be the consequenses? I hope someone will read this and start using it. It helped me SO much. :)

Carlie, I am so thankful that you opened up to us. I am a college student who is studying psychology and counseling and I am a HUGE advocate for counseling! Counseling can help people learn who they are and what they're capable of and it also can be helpful in showing people that life is a journey and counseling can equip them with new strategies for loving and tackling life. Unfortunately, therapy has such a negative stigma attached to it, when in reality, it is such a wonderful tool. So many people see going to therapy as a weakness but it is a way to process changes and gain strategies to go through life happily! I encourage everyone to go to counseling, even when their lives are going smoothly (if it's and option and a financial possibility) because it is so healthy to process your thoughts with someone else. Thank you for being open! With your openness, I hope that others will find the courage to seek out professional help! You are amazing!

You are a huge inspiration in my life because of you I am getting fit. I'm excepting who I am (which is hard to do when you have been knocked down a couple of times). You are an amazing women! :D

In this past year I have realized that I really do need to talk to people and I do need to express myself to others. So Carlie we are all in the same boat, never be embarrassed to go to therapy. Therapy is another way of improving yourself and that's what you are all about. You are awesome for opening up to us!

thank you for sharing carlie! i always felt like i was weak and that i was 'abnormal' for going to a therapist, but eventually i realise reaching out for help makes you stronger because your admitting you have an issue that your willing to fix or deal with. and i never felt like i could admit i had a problem but now i only see my therapist one a month because of my progress and she says i've been doing really well, i feel strong and empowered, it was the hardest thing I've done in my whole life even though I'm only 14 haha but i was worth it for the outcome :) xx

Going to therapy is NOT a sign of weekends but, a sign of STRENGTH!! I think every person needs some therapy at some point in their lives. Good for you for going and good for you for sharing. People tend to make therapy a bad word and its not and there should be no shame in going!!!!!! I hope you are able to work through what ever it is quick. Oh, a tip if you do not click or feel something comfortable with a therapist, go to a different until you find one that you work well with!!! Good luck!!!!

@cathytran570210 жыл бұрын
I'm a few months away from graduating high school (my profile picture was from sophomore year). My advice to you, as someone who just started, is to find a solid group of friends. Sometimes you'll strike gold with friends who have your best interest at heart, but there may also be people who will take pleasure in your failure but don't fret it. Freshman year I was lucky enough to find a mentor. He's guided me through my life for the past four years and is one of the two people who pushed me in the direction of practicing gratitude. Any time you feel down, think about all the things you are thankful for, especially the things that seem basic, like a bed, food, legs, fingers, sight, etc. It really helps put things into perspective, at least it does for me. I was extremely shy and hated being the center of attention, freshman year and now I am outgoing and outspoken (lol). I am extremely emotional and I also have melt downs but anytime that happens I try to close my eyes and experience my "upset-ness". Eventually I realize that life should not be spent in a constant state of sadness. If something or someone brings sadness into your life, let it/them go. Nothing is worth your tears.
@Erica-wx1th10 жыл бұрын
Going off with what Cathy said about finding a solid group of friends, try joining a sport or maybe theatre if you have an after school theatre program at your school! Doing that really helps you create a solid friendship with people because you see them almost everyday, and you share something in common. I joined theatre my sophomore in high school and it was the best decision I have ever made because I had a solid group of friends who I now think of as family. High School really is some of the best years of your life because it's when you start to figure out what you want to do with your life and you really get to figure out yourself! Just enjoy everything and try new stuff out!

Thanks for this Carlie! On my mind today, which put in a really frustrated annoyed mood is that- earlier this week I started this incredible amazing job opportunity which I already feel massively under-qualified for but so grateful the the chance to grow and learn. In my message correspondence with who I considered my best friend in high school but who've constantly been trying to detach from since it's a negative relationship. I received a message from her with a seemingly insincere congrats and asking what I would be doing. She then in a very polite disguised manner diminished my accomplishments asking if I was just an intern than rather than a full time position. After feeling like I had to explain my position etc, she answered with 'that's good. And continued to talk about herself.' While I knew it was a negative relationship, I don't know why I feel that I need that external approval- by someone who's always made me feel bad about myself and make me doubt my capabilities. When I know internally, that I did good. Anyways, a rant to my fav youtuber saying that I get what you mean and this is what's been plaguing my mind with negative energy. I think that finding that internal pride and confidence is something I still need to work on!

Lately, I've been wanting to go to a therapist, not so much because I have family issues or whatever else people associate therapy with, but because I want to understand myself at a deeper level. I want to experience every emotion under a magnifying glass. I want to sort through my thoughts and ideas. I want answers to questions that I constantly ask myself. I have a mentor. He is my "therapist", to some extent. When I go off to college, I won't be able to go speak with him whenever I want. I'll miss being able to go in and talk to someone about everything without restraint.

So impressed you put the therapy out there. As a person who has used it too I can say the stigma is the worst part. The more we admit to need a mind dr as much as a skin dr or eye dr the more socially acceptable it will become.

Carlie, my buddy Michael Collins passed away last week after being hit by a drunk driver. Michael was coming home from a sorority social with his date and two others in a car with a designated driver when they were struck. After his passing, a friend of mine started a page on Facebook called "Pay it forward for Michael Collins" where people from all over the nation are doing random acts of kindness in his name. I encourage you to check this out, spread awareness about drunk driving, and possibly even pay it forward in Idaho to spread the selflessness and love Michael always had. #MCstrong chiconashoestringdecorating.blogspot.com/2014/04/a-messy-beautiful-story-pay-it-forward.html

Maybe because I have lived my whole life here on the East Coast around major metropolitan cities I don't see anything strange about people going to therapy. It is probably one of the most normal things people can do to deal with their issues. And we all have issues. I have often thought of how awesome it would be to have a therapist to bounce thoughts and ideas off of. Totally normal Carly, and healthy. That being said, from all of your appearances in others and your videos, you seem to have your shit together a lot more than most people, so whatever you have been doing is working. Keep up the awesome.
