In this lesson for PDR, I'm going to show you some dent damage photos that were sent through to me by my customers for me to quote on. Then we'll compare it to some short video clips I've taken once I've got on-site and assess the damage in person.

When you see the customer in person,do you say l have to adjust the price or keep the same estimate? Advise them ahead of time, it may change when you see the damage in person 🤔

Good question Victor! You have a couple of choices and this depends on how you want to run your business, how busy you are and your relationship with the client, In an ideal world you would physically inspect every dent but as a mobile PDR tech if I went out and estimated every enquiry Id get no repairs done, lol. If you are in person then you can agree the repair and the price, if via email then yes I would suggest giving a ball park figure or an estimate *subject to physical inspection. You can adjust the price once onsite but if your customer was unaware your original price was an estimate only then there is a good chance you will create a negative emotion or perhaps distrust which is never good for business!

Most valuable lesson I can teach after 27 years of pdr is always be learning. No matter if you are working around new techs or veteran. Always adapt and use better techniques that other people come up with.

Its not that bad! Well it could be anywhere between $95 to $325 for the repair in my case. Leather restoration is about the same, depending on grain access and what needs to be removed. Not uncommon for a hairline scratch to cost $195 on a Dash. I see PDR guys doing all sorts of pricing in my area but not sure if they compete with pricing. As for me 10 years in Restoration is what sets the prices. Very informative as always 👍 Thank You for your time Tom

Yes I guess its similar in a lot of service based industries, the pricing is based on the individuals experience and competence, pricing often comes down to the technicians mindset and understanding of the true value of the repair process, Thank you 👍

So when it comes to pricing how do you approach it? Is it call out plus hourly rate or do you know how long something would take and add slight padding to cover 1+ hours. But if finished before time due you offer reduced rate?

Good question, me personally I either look at photos that the customer has sent and then give a ball park figure or I estimate in person for an exact figure. I base my price on how long I think the dent will take me to repair and this is often decided by how complex the repair will be, for example do I need to remove interior trims to access the dent, is the metal stretched what are the potential risk and then I stick to the price I have quoted whether it takes me more or less time to complete. If I think I may only get the damage 90% I will discuss that with my customer before starting and if I go out and then for whatever reason and I can not remove the dent, then I do not charge a call out fee. This is just my own personal approach for what works for me

I received a quote, and they listed flex additive. What does that do?

To be honest I am not sure, on that one, was it a Paintless Dent Removal quote as opposed to traditional body repairs? perhaps it could be a materials cost such 'glue' or the 'releasing agent'

@@LearnPDROnline it was body shop, although I think they had a PDR guy they contacted the work to. I guess that’s probably what it was though. That kind of makes sense.
