The style, the tone, the humor, the script(?) ... still enjoy it after many videos. I end up smiling after every video, feeling entertained, feeling relaxed: thank you! Often enough I also learn something about photography while leaning back. A wonderful channel. And for the gear: you are a working professional, you have to do your math to fund your business and the investment in gear, while impressive, seems reasonable and needs to be compared with other businesses. The way you present it: very entertaining.

The number of times I have this exact same debate with myself (as a hobbyist!) and I sit there with all my gear on the dining table (won't fit on the desk anymore) and think... Wow really? And then I look at how much a 2 week cruise costs and I'm happy again.

The Sony 100-400 f//2.8 is about $2500US. As an Apple shareholder I love that you paid $4000 for the laptop. I don't buy Apple products (phone excluded) because they are twice the price and half as capable as a Dell laptop although I love that you contributed to my share price - WAY TO GO!

That was hilarious, I can relate to your situation . It can be dangerous to let them know what you pay for equipment , because they don't realize what it cost for your profession . You made a honest real video what we have to deal with trying to explain to our wife's what you need for your work and the cost. Keep up the great video's Gavin, we enjoy them as well as you're photography. BTW, my wife bought 8 years ago a sewing embroidery machine . She paid 5500.00 for it and still hasn't use it one time, at least I use my tools, camera gear, Ham radios etc. LOL

I love my Osmo 3. We use it for vlogging for our sailing channel. I actually do real estate photography and my husband sails so I’ve had good excuses to buy gear. Lol. I’ve got the Sony 70-200 gm ii w/2x tele and it’s my very fave lens of all time, I don’t use it for work but starting to get into other genres and stock photography. Just found your channel. Great video! My husband would have a full on stroke if he added up all my gear. Addition sucks haha

I was going to buy the RRS ballhead for my FLM legs.... but then I found the Acratech Pano head. Was it cheaper? Was it More Expensive? I dunno, I just know it meant I had to buy more kit for my FLM legs. I know the video is in jest, I enjoyed it. Your mother in law, your wife, yourself, a great watch all around. But to put it in to context. A Taxi driver needs his/her taxi. A self employed truck driver needs a truck. And so on. If you're a great pro photographer, you need the best kit, the kit that suits you. None of it is cheap.
