Tip against the Vannifar deck for anyone playing against it: always Surgical the KIKI JIKI, not the Vannifar. Kiki Jiki is the main combo piece, Vannifar is the engine.

This is my favourite deck! Still play it in Modern, did managed to top 8 some rcq's with it. I have found you don't so much need the extra untappers, monitor and 2 resto have been enough and eldrich Evolution/cord do amazing work with tyvar now. Ice fang/voice are 2 drops worth considering as well as Cankerbloom/goblin Cratermaker in the side now with tyvar. Deputy of detention/Knight of Autum is a really amazing mainboard include as well and by have the 3 drops you can evo into norn more consitently giving you a chance vs scam and omnath. Good luck to anyone that trys to experiment with it. Love to see you play this and your content!

Seems to me, that hippocamp is just worse than resto? Also, I noticed that when you combo, you very frequently trade up the monitor into something else. The monitor kill is the easiest click-wise, because you can save targets on both kiki and monitor, making it really quick to combo (I think its 1 click instead of 4 per creature).

OH and 1 last thing - karmic guide is pretty awesome in vannifar, letting you chain a felidar guardian into karmic guide / flicker it, get something else back - essentially means you can combo if your opp has thoughtseize'd a kiki or milled it etc.

i almost think the pioneer version of vannifar could be stronger or at least more consistant. Just make 8 extraction specialist´s and give them haste :) I think the combo cant be canceled unless they kill the monitor or vannifar in response and itll be 27 damage 24 life

Really like the deck and the idea of bringing different stuff. But i really don't understand the 3 triomes in the deck. They only made your early turns earlier. If you wanted to play with them, why not leyline biding instead of a prismatic ending? Anyways, thanks for the content!

My judge is that Scam players include the type of people who played Tibalt's Trickery. High risk high reward, low skill req. It's not that they aren't skilled, it's that they are acting lazy already, bc that's how they enjoy magic. Similar to how control players like interactive games and having tons of cards in hand. Ideally, you don't want to have a ton of cards in hand in a game of magic, because it means you're playing so few of them

Why on earth did you not ending the lord on turn 2? Turn 3 you can oracle into the 2nd one if you get lucky and hit a land. Your not the beatdown you need to preserve your life total. Also you can call for solitude then pitch the 2nd call to it then block the other lord and survive at 2.

This format really turned to mono-elemental after the MH2. Sadly I found modern interesting AFTER that set, and seeing games from pre MH2 is the refreshing part of the format. As an EDH-player the fact that every deck NEEDS something from the Modern Horrible 2 has me in a mental state of "Nope. Fuck modern, stick to edh"

It seems a bit weird and disingenous to talk about this as though it's a new deck, when Tyvar + Vannifar combo has been run in explorer since Tyvar came out. This is just a modern version of it, which seems worse given how much faster and more powerful the format is.
