I love you Sis ❤️ but I can’t lie I don’t like the idea of having a house help. It’s never sat well with me! I know in Nigeria it’s the norm but in the U.K majority of us just do things ourselves. I believe in the UK having a house help would be considered a luxury. I went back home last year and I wasn’t allowed to do a single thing and that felt so weird to me! I would always argue with the house help saying nope I’m going to do this or that because that is just my norm. Also I remember at the age of 15 I remember my grandparents had a house help who was 1 year older than me. Which broke my heart! Because at 16 this girl is working and not in school. The girl also shared with me that once she’s paid her parents take the money from her. Which even stressed me out the more!! To cut the long short! I made so much noise in that house and insisted that my grandparents pay for her to go to school. Because I’m a 1000% sure that none of my relatives would want me working as a house help. Please note I’m not judging anyone that has a house help but I’m pleading with you all to do the right thing by them. That could have been anyone of us in that situation But we thank God that it’s not. So we that have the upper hand! Let’s try and support these young girls in any way we can.

Fara Brown good point raised but sometimes when you have too much on your plate having a helper can do you so much good. This isn't to nullify your point but I'm just giving my opinion from this part of the globe. It's true one can go without a helper but our system isn't as organized as overseas. You can count the number of homes that can afford washing machines, vacuum cleaners and the ilk to help facilitate things. Also grocery shopping isn't on the go like else where.. you want to cook yam you have to sit down and clean it you want to cook vegetables most often you have to plug them off which is really time consuming (which is why I'm working on something to improve grocery shopping in my country and other African countries God willing ) Most of our chores are done manually which is time consuming then imagine you have to play the employer or employee role out of home , you need to spend time with your kids , you need to spend time on yourself and if you're married you need to spend time with your husband. So it's not easy to go without a helper. Meaning people employing them should treat them well. This is what I've noticed too.. most people doing small scale jobs like cooks, drivers, helpers , nanny are not trained or don't sign a contract with the employer so this then gives room for some employer to overburden them with chores and don't even respect them as humans so yea there's a lot we have to do before we can take off the need of helpers in our systems.

Nanny/househelp are necessary evils with different drama and packages. I eventually put it in prayers for God to give me a help like a daughter and he did. She stay almost 4years until i relocated from naija. God answers every prayer request no matter how silly they her. Tell it to him. I enjoyed the video by the way.
@therealist2866
@therealist2866 6 жыл бұрын
Kenny Ojediran, they are NOT a "necessary" anything, much less an "evil"! You always have the option of taking care of your kids, cleaning your own house, and doing your household's laundry. If that means you or your husband cannot work, then that's a tough choice to make (and perhaps a factor you should take into consideration when deciding on your househelp's compensation). But abegi, let's not confuse our own personal convenience with necessity.

I think both your maids should go. You aren't getting the help you need for the day maid and the 2nd help can't be trusted to stay. You also need to slow down on been emotionally invested. You're obviously a sweet soul (God bless your heart dear) and these people will often take advantage of you. Soooo Sisi you need to turn it down some nutches. I always conduct my interviews first by phone and then I meet the prospects and then the agent takes the help to a lab(which I use often) and they mail me the results. If all is fine then the girl comes. So try and interview and think if you can work with the person and then test before actual resumption. In regards to their stories....hmmm. nothing you can do oo. It's just to pray that a good one will stay as long as you want. Just keep been good to them.

Growing up in Nigeria my parents always had house help but they were men. Living in the USA the only time I have had House help or a house keeper was when we are moving house to help us clean the house before it is sold or rented. I did have Nanny's when my children were babies and I was in medical residency. I hated the feeling of letting someone take care of my babies but I had to for a while. Now that our kids are older it is so nice to have them do dishes after dinner every night or do their own laundry. The cleaning I do now is not much but like most of my peers we do not have any house help. Your stories are interesting as usual! God bless _ Habiba

About the allergy thing, it might be that you are allergic to dust mites or the detergent that you use in washing your clothes. For the dust mites issue, you can iron or steam your clothes before wearing them. For detergent, try using one that is fragrance free or those that do not contain synthetic fragrance.

Question: must people have house-help in Nigeria in this day & now?.... Also, must all the house helps come from the village? I know in Naija, they consider jobs like that low class, but outside Naija it’s someone’s career. SiSi, regarding your sons hair, you can wash it real good, condition it for like 30mins or so. Wash and blow dry the hair that’s if you’ve not tried this method. Use those blow dryer that has comb attached. It worked for my son although his hair isn’t as coarse. May God help you located the best helper that’d meet your needs SiSi wa😁😆😁 For your sinus issues, you can steam your face in hot water. Pour hot water in large bowl/bucket/pail etc. Use towel to cover your head to secure steam. That’d help open up your sinuses. -LoLa

Cos we always calculate what are we going to cook later or tomorrow or see something on sales and must surely buy it to keep in the house 😜😜😜. It’s the men that will go to market to buy that milk and come back with milk . Women are women everywhere. Black or white or whatever background

TheRealist I know Sisi is a sweet soul and won't maltreat anyone. However I totally agree with you. I had rich cousins back home who treat their maids like garbage! Maid cannot eat regular food. Maid cannot sit on nice furniture. Working 24 hours for peanuts...that's abuse. SummerAku just talked about that on her channel. I know Sisi is not like that; she is very sweet & kind but there are very few people back home like her.

I caramba!😨 Sisi Yemmie,you got it all. I have been intensely listening because I'm about to get help in my house and I would love to know all the different tricky stories just in case. I pray to God I have none of those issues.🙏 You seem to be a very caring person but oh my goodness,they really give you a lot of stories don't they?! You're really having a time of it. I hope you have a really good steady help, someone who can really work the way they should. It sounds like a lot of these young women they want jobs but easy jobs that pay alot. Why not they all just braid hair or something like that. They're not being a good assistant to you when they get them self into issues and then they come to your house with it, not able to do the work that they should and then you find out there's something else wrong with them and story on top of story. Oh! I feel so bad for you.😢 Hopefully something will work out soon, and if it is your calling to help girls that have teenage pregnancy or pregnancy out of wedlock then God bless you.

Looool @ the first pregnancy story. Sisi it's not just you that is going through this maid ordeal...i have seen a lot in the course of my search for a good maid. I've had tons of them pass through my home. Maids are hardly ever truthful. They always have a story to tell. Most of the time, the names they tell you are not actually their names because when you ask for their acct details, it would have a different name. However, there are good ones out there...it takes the grace of God to find them.

After I graduated, I was home for one year with my parents and they turned me to omo odo. I had to sweep the compound, wash clothes, do dishes, wash cars, sweep, cook etc. I almost died lol. Interesting to learn that in Nigeria you carry out health tests for the house helps. I'm Kenyan and I've not seen it done here.

Leo Tunapika I haven't been to Cameroon in years but I know we don't that there. It's illegal here in America to test them as is done in Nigeria. As a nurse I have to either get immunizations or show titers, yearly TB test, background & drug testing but no testing like HIV & stuff. Nannies here go through the same process

Wow to get help with house work. Here we do it all work, cleaning, laundry, children and relationship duty. Yes it is stressful. If we don't do it right God forbid you will be the talk of the town. But i am thinking of considering a cleaning company to come in once a week to ease the stress. Nevertheless, Keep prayering for God to move in your situation.

Just finished watching, don't feel bad to let her go. But what I know is that just be patient SisiYemmie, you'll get the best person that will blend in and you'll even become tired sef. If you can ask your agent to get anyone from Jos for you, those Jos girls are very very hardworking and are nice also. If I were still with the Nanny placement agency I would have taken it upon myself to find a very very very good girl for you. I think my former boss doesn't run that business again, she has oyinbo mentality and the girls just frustrate her, Lol. Their wahala is actually plenty

Sisi why did you do this to me?! I said wow, this is a long video, let me listen as I do my housework. Next thing I know, I am sitting down with my jaw literally dropped open at this update. I pray God reveals to you why these women keep presenting the same issues and that we can help in some way. God bless!

Auntie you are too kind those girls know they get belly and still try to dupe you. I'm in the US it is hard and expensive to have help. Its also amazing to me that you can terminate someone in Nigeria because of genetic/health information its illegal here so this is something new to me. Can you get male help? Or get older auntie who is done having kids
