I was going to say, you guys must love your ice. But after watching the video, I see your point on having a large ice machine.

Problems like your fridge is having is one of the reasons I decided to get out of the appliance business ten years ago. How do you fix something that wasn't engineered to work in the first place? I haven't looked back.

Working on fridges in a restaurant is bad enough, I could not imagine working on residential units in homes. Heck no.

Are you running a filtration system on the make up water?

Embarrassingly... no. Still never got around to buying something. And I've recommended and installed them professionally in restaurants etc Luckily the water don't seem too bad at all here.

Manufactuers have used "beams" of some sort to prove bin is full. Maintenance nightmare, water splashes on them, builds up gunk, thinks bin is full.

Exactly my right process It would have been cool until the sensors got build up on them. Then a nightmare

#hackfreehvac So I just fixed my Samsung ice maker. It's been a nightmare. I added a freezer drain heater and wrapped it around opening for the fan Samsung SELLS(the FIX TO THIER FUCK UP) dripclips that help but don't solve. I rang out the wires on the mullex connectors in the ice maker and attached it to the ice maker heaters so that it turns on whenever the ice is ready to dump. If the fan is blocked, ice melts and freezes over and over causing that bullshit. It does work decent when it's not froze up. We fill and empty ours once a day. It will completely fill once about 18hrs. I'm glad I finally got it completely fixed. Piece of crap needed defrosting every week before modifying. lemme know if anyone wants to end fix to finally use your Samsung ice machine and not have water dripping from the door constantly.

Damn, what a POS. Now that we have the commercial Ice-O-Matic I won't even bother with the Samsung built in ice maker. It isn't enough for our family anyway as it's ice production was a bit less than our old fridge.

I have the same fridge. I have to chisel the ice out all the time. Worst ice maker design.
