Well, duh. He’s an imperial guard, of course he is supposed to risk his life. That’s his job! I think both Wei Yanwan and the emperor were shocked that Ling Yunche has such fast reflex and complete selflessness to save Ruyi. Yes of course guards are supposed to protect the imperial family. But that's against basic human nature, and everyone secretly knows it. The emperor didn't expect a guard to be so willingly (without showing even just 0.5 second of hesitation) risking his life to protect Ruyi, much more willingly than the emperor himself is. The emperor probably realises at that very moment that Yunche loves his wife more than himself. And that just angers and shames him to no end.
