As you discovered, they were founded in Sweden in 1995, and are now one of the longest-running melodic death metal bands of all time. They broke through with their second vocalist, the incomparable Angela Gossow, who joined in 2000 and then retired from regular performing in 2014. Gossow groomed her successor, Alyssa White-Gluz, who has carried the torch since then. White-Gluz has been described as “a stunningly beautiful woman who screams like a demon” while Gossow has been called “quite possibly an actual demon.” More recently, Arch Enemy have been mixing in both metal and clean vocals, taking advantage of White-Gluz’s gorgeous, pure singing voice. Well, in my opinion, this is not a typical AE song, normally they have a more "in your face" sound 😉Check out "Deceiver, deceiver" if you wanna know what I mean. Alyssa is a very good vocalist, she can do those powerful growls as well as great cleans (-> "Handshake with hell") In fact, she was hand-picked from Angela Gossow, the former vocalist and now manager of the band, and SHE was a real beast on stage! You wanna check her out, try "Nemesis" live in Tokyo 2008.

Other great Melodic Death bands you should check out are Parasite Inc, Insomnium, and Eluveitie. Edit: Should be noted Death Metal doesn't have break downs since breakdowns are from the hardcore genre which death metal doesn't use, deathcore however uses Death+Hardcore.
